The funniest thing I heard in discussion about this is the fact you'd only get a small amount of the furries onboard with this. The want to fuck anthropomorphic animals like lola bunny not an actual bear!
Proves the priorities of the left, big breasts, a monogamous relationship is evil, beastiality and child grooming is all the rage...
I actually don't have a problem with it being fictional content, I'm laughing at the fact that studios thing this'll entice people to buy their game when outside their bubble people are like 'oh so this is ok but my big booba dark elf is sexist!?'
The only thing I found slightly less disturbing when they showed this during the devs live stream, the number of journos that were cheering for it….. This is the part where you are supposed to say “eww gross, what’s wrong with the devs.” Not cheer for it
"Only a small percentage" of furries want to fuck actual animals the same way "only a small percentage" of bronies want to fuck little girls. See also: Kero the Fox and how easily he found like-minded degenerates and how blase the furry community was about the whole thing.
Slightly different. The same would be if the person were cursed into being a bear. Most "300 year old vampires" are of the mythos "a person keeps the form they were when they turned, and only virgins can turn into vampires, so most vampires were turned very young and will never age" angle.
But in this case, the person is choosing to transform. I'd argue that's an important difference. In-universe (ignoring the meta-authorial-level), the vamp-loli can't change her form (and the ones that can, such as Evangeline A. K. MacDowell, usually do age themselves up when initiating any overtures), so if she were to have any romantic interests, she would have to have them in that form, but this situation is more voluntary, the druid could have been some dude having some gay sex, but he heard about bears and otters in gay couples and misread some lines.
It's a minor difference, but I think it's an important one narratively. If The Beast could shift back and forth to Prince Charming, but just liked railing Belle as the Beast, that'd be weird, but it's less weird if he's stuck in that form.
Wasn't there a movie that unironically had a 'kid vampire' who kept creeping on little girls and wanted to turn them because he'd been a vampire for like 150 years? I'm trying to remember it, all the other vampires were like, scummy losers living in a van.
Fantasy dwarves and short people actually look like adults just with smaller proportions. I’m taking a jab at lolis “but acktually” stories that crop up in D&D green texts from time to time.
Bestiality is only fine here because its gay. A male human and male bear (male druid). If it was a hot girl like from dead or alive getting it with a german shepard.. those gaming journalists would be calling on congress to bam the game.
I dont give a shit about this.. ive done worse shit in skyrim. But its just double standards. We all know better than to point out double standards to sjw's.
Bestiality is only fine here because its gay. A male human and male bear (male druid).
I was going to ask. It's so sad how predictable it is...I figured this was gay, despite not knowing the context. I guess simple bestiality isn't enough for leftist brownie points, it needs to be gay too.
I dont give a shit about this.. ive done worse shit in skyrim. But its just double standards.
My issue with this is that it's in the game directly but, more importantly, the crowd reaction is the real gross part. You've done weirder shit in modded Skyrim. And you didn't show it off to an audience and act like it was some ground breaking moment in gaming, and the retard crowd didn't start cheering like a bunch of degenerates.
Not just the double-standards, but the partisan's inability to compartmentalize their various thoughts and lifestyle facets. A product of art should be including bizarre stuff because it improves the overall objective quality, not because of some post-hipster's basic-bitch level fetish or cringey agenda.
Remember Mass Effect 2? Remember how you wanted to save every character during the final mission because they were all good and likable? I don’t even want these modern rpg characters in my party at all. It’s hard to even put together a full group in these games anymore without including at least one turbo cunt or degenerate, and the devs generally won’t let you ignore or Jill them. It’s just enforced LGBT and feminism now.
I don’t even want these modern rpg characters in my party at all.
Its a shame that the "Rivalry" aspect from Dragon Age 2 never took off, because that could be the saving grace to most of these characters. Just the ability to have them in your party, developing their relationship and questline, and its entirely based on calling them out, insulting their stupidity, and making sure they know they are only there for what they can provide.
But that would undermine "The Message" of the character and lead to some ugly screenshots for twitter, so we can't have the option to disapprove of these characters at all.
That's what bothers me about this. The existence of these woke avatars doesn't ruin the setting (at least in small numbers), the fact that they're treated as normal does. If they had the balls to treat it as abnormal or even notable, and let the player respond accordingly, it could even strengthen the setting. Instead, everything has to be safe and inclusive, and the integrity of the setting is destroyed in the process.
I agree, and its something I enjoyed a lot about the earlier Bioware games. They had the annoying wokies trying to preach, but you could call them out on their shit most of the time and even other characters would get in on it. Anders from DA2 is given endless shit for his whiney "muh oppression" attitude, which would never fly today.
Shit, just show me a gay getting killed just for being gay in one of these settings, instead of the homophobia being toothless and safely evil like it always is.
I'd still take my favourite brain adled ranger who talks to a hamster over these likely self inserts. That's how poorly these not mentally hindered, one dimensional 2D characters score in my head.
BG1 didn't have the same companion depth as 2 did which is likely also one of the main features players loved about the sequel. Sure there were some characters who you'd rather launch into the Underdark via catapult like Anomen, or Keldorn, or Jahaera, or Haer'Dalis, sometimes Viconia, definitely Edwin, and a few others, but they were still characters that added to the experience because of both their various personal quests and interactions with both the player and other companions.
And for added fun and insanity there was the option of giving the idiotic talking sword Lilarcor to Minsc just for the concept of how utterly chaotic that pairing would be.
Yeah. The real frustrating part is, plenty of these companies were not just good, but making some of the better games for a while. Larian has made some great stuff. BioWare was making great stuff, as was Obsidian, and both had connections to the OG Black Isle Studios. Now BioWare and Obsidian are churning out some of the most laughably woke stuff. And I don't even know what happened to Larian; by all rights BG3 should have been good. And, outside of the RPG sphere, Blizzard went from one of the all time bests, to a company to generally be avoided.
Are they all the same people who made those better games? A studio is only as good as the people working there, otherwise it's just a name. I'm pretty sure Obsidian isn't the same. Also I believe at least one of the Bioware honchos revealed himself to be a regressive leftist, which - in isolation - didn't interfere with creativity at the time but after TDS set in his cult became mainstream and all culture became a vehicle for The Message.
Mordin’s arc hit as hard as a redemption story can in like any medium. It could never be done today because the devs would be afraid have to explain the justification for the like sterility virus as thoroughly as they did in the main ME series. Or worse we’d have some mincing character whose whole purpose is to dramatically demonstrate the developer’s moral outrage throughout the plot And Mordin wouldn’t be allowed to be as likable as he was
I agree. I don't think Mordin's 180 on the genophage fit his character well at all. Mordin is highly intelligent and logical, it seems absurd to assume he wouldn't have fully considered the ramifications of creating such a virus and suddenly have a complete breakdown because of "muh dead Krogan babbies". Curing the genophage will cause another war. Krogan's are unkillable tanks that breed like rabbits and have a warrior culture where violence and conquest is valued above all else. Gee, I wonder what will happen if their absurd birth rates are restored and they once again need to expand beyond their home planets?
I don't remember the specifics, but pretty sure there were some big red flags on BG3, sadly.
For one thing, I think they uglied their females, and...oh, I think I remember. I think they had some super woke blog posts about racism, diversity, and character creation. It was pretty bad, as I recall, and pissed a lot of people off.
It's difficult to tell for certain since a lot of those red flags might be related to Wizards of the Coast and D&D related news.
There's certainly some possibility of some mild layering of wokeness on the surface (like the gender stuff in the customization options and the marketing) but it remains to be seen if it's rotten to the core or not.
Considering it's "100 years later", the list of ways it can tie in is very limited. The only notable events are the deaths of the last two bhaalspawn (including the protag of bg1-2), and the rebirth of bhaal. And since that's just canon and doesn't tie into your choice at the end of bg2, there's no reason for it to not just be some other game set in forgotten realms.
there's no reason for it to not just be some other game set in forgotten realms.
This right here.
The Forgotten Realms is such a fantastic setting in its own right. I'd much rather see it get the exposure it deserves as the rich and historied world that it is. Build a good game(something this studio is quite capable of doing) and then set yourself up to sell the world itself rather than shamelessly pretending to be the next installment of a timeless masterpiece.
The more weird shit I hear about this game, the more I fucking think it's just a mainstream fetish game. If I want to play a D&D video game, I'll play Neverwinter instead. Fuck that.
Minor spoiler, and I didn't get the full story, but in one area you accidentally come across what I think was a bugbear banging an ogre in a random barn. You're given a few response options, but my friend and I opted to just murder them on the spot. Which was easier said than done.
... oh the puns might be unbearable for this one, the bear neccisities for puns has been past... welp if this gets thru i think the sonicfox in skullgirls mess will be a kitten compared to someone having the hots for smokey here... i wonder if this will be annother hot coffie mess again? if they were hoping to get furries on board with this they shoulda went with a werewolf, or something more humanoid. not this bearback riding stunt...
I’m not watching the clip so I admittedly don’t have the full context but I believe Larian Studios is a British company and joking about beastiality is a very common theme in British humor that pre-dates the internet.
Is this pushing degeneracy or just an example of vulgar British humor?
A reminder that Monty Python foretold a lot of woke topics in their films and sketches like with the man wanting to be a woman and have babies in Life of Brian, or the doctor in Meaning of Life replying to the new mother how it's too early to decide such things when she asks if her offspring is a boy or girl.
Jokes and satire of yesteryear is doctrine and rhetoric of today's clown world.
However people screeching about bestiality humour and vulgar content are no better than the left wing SJWs they claim to despise.
You can have bestiality humour without the testicle physics and nude males.
As someone above said, if it were a hot female there would be pure outrage.
But the only thing that makes the scene "humourous", in context, is the squirrel's reaction. But if we take out the squirrel's reaction, would you still find the scene to be funny?
The game follows DnD 5E pretty closely, but adapted into a video game so there are some changes or differences. Early on in early access people were complaining the game was too much like DOS2 with the focus on surfaces, which aren't really a DnD mechanic, and have since been toned down significantly (but not removed). The scale of the characters and traversing the maps is much more similar to DOS2 than it is to BG1 or 2.
As somebody who enjoyed both BG and DOS, but hates DnD 5E, I did actually enjoy my time playing in early access. Expect it to play much more like if DOS2 was turned into a DnD 5E game than if BG1/2 were updated to 5E standards.
If you liked DOS2 you will like this one. I fail to see the connection to BG other then name and being in forgotten realms.
For woke messaging, it looks a lot about being pro-immigration with thieflings being a stand-in for the immigration waves that hit Europe. They are portrayed extremely favorably to the point of being pathetic pandering. I'm also incredibly tired of the "thiefling with a heart of gold" trope in DnD.
There was also a quest with a woman that was controlling her husband and somehow she was in the right somehow? She made him the equivalent of a mindless slave rather then leave him but she was the good one.
The gay vampire dude I did not dislike, he is evil and he reminded me of Milo so I'm willing to give that one a pass.
There is also a good mindflayer because we can't have anyone be evil by birth, despite eating brains. Not sure if woke but I just hate this trope of having good "evil" creatures.
As for mechanics, at level 3-4 you get to beat owl bears, ogre-magi, drow, a beholder, hook horrors, minotaurs and a hag. I hate that, DnD should be about progressing to a point where you get to defeat this monsters and not being able to just kill anything a few levels in.
Not sure if they changed it but you could make your characters any skin color, so you could make a white or brown skinned drow that made 0 sense.
That being said I did not dislike the early access despite its flaws, it just felt like more of DOS2 rather then DnD and definitely nothing related to BG.
I remember replaying NWN2 just to remember how a well done DnD game implementation is done.
There's not one but two other people here who know about this abomination. My years of telling people about the faggotry in newer books has borne fruit.

The worst part about this is the crowd celebrating it.
Same shit, different form.
Slightly different. The same would be if the person were cursed into being a bear. Most "300 year old vampires" are of the mythos "a person keeps the form they were when they turned, and only virgins can turn into vampires, so most vampires were turned very young and will never age" angle.

I love how 80s trailers just had gratuitous violence in them. Also i miss that smokey voiced narrator.
i guess you've never heard of short people or dwarfs?
Fantasy dwarves and short people actually look like adults just with smaller proportions. I’m taking a jab at lolis “but acktually” stories that crop up in D&D green texts from time to time.
i know you're taking a jab at lolis because that seems to be the fad these days on western twitter, but im disagreeing with you on that
how do you expect to have anime dwarfs without it looking like lolis?
I was so fucking scared of what was in this post.
Bestiality is only fine here because its gay. A male human and male bear (male druid). If it was a hot girl like from dead or alive getting it with a german shepard.. those gaming journalists would be calling on congress to bam the game.

JFC seriously? It's bad enough it's a bear, but it's a gay bear? Wait, is that really on the nose?
The squirrel's reaction was good, though.
THE DRUIDS ARE TURNING THE FRICKEN BEARS GAY
So, classic Studio FOW?
Whatever happened to them?? Last time i heard.. they made a game like 5 or something year ago.
They forgot that most people aren't cucks like them so their game didn't do as well as they hoped
Not just the double-standards, but the partisan's inability to compartmentalize their various thoughts and lifestyle facets. A product of art should be including bizarre stuff because it improves the overall objective quality, not because of some post-hipster's basic-bitch level fetish or cringey agenda.
They cannot hate it because its gay.
It's also technically necrophilia as vampires as classified as undead in D&D.
The real question is does it technically cancel out? Does a bear fucking a corpse just become a nature documentary instead of two sex crimes?
If it were an actual bear fucking a zombie, maybe. But the vampire and druid are both sapient, so they're both guilty.
Twilight fans don’t have to hide their fetishes anymore.
They were hiding it before? 🤔
Remember Mass Effect 2? Remember how you wanted to save every character during the final mission because they were all good and likable? Well Minsc is apparently in the game files so they’ll be ruining him too soon enough.

Only the bear necessaries for you…
Stolen from Vee because it's very apt.
I will never forgive them for desecrating the Baldur's Gate franchise.
It's Larian who made the incredible Divinity Original sin series. I have some faith that this is for fun and not because of {{{the message}}}
The devs got butthurt that the players overwhelming created white male characters.
My beef is mostly that the Bhaalspawn saga is pretty conclusively over, so there's no good reason for this game to be called Baldur's Gate 3.
Agreed. The name is 100% pure piggybacking. Might as well call it Half Life 3.
Apparently it’s all supposed to tie into the Bhaalspawn stuff a few acts into the game.
Considering it's "100 years later", the list of ways it can tie in is very limited. The only notable events are the deaths of the last two bhaalspawn (including the protag of bg1-2), and the rebirth of bhaal. This is not an argument in the game's favor, quite the contrary in fact.
The more weird shit I hear about this game, the more I fucking think it's just a mainstream fetish game. If I want to play a D&D video game, I'll play Neverwinter instead. Fuck that.
Progressive "gamer" criticism means nothing, we're seeing what makes them cheer.

They took care of the bear necessities. Druid on paper? Sure, butt away from me. Live studio audience? Humanity has left the building.

Novel about fucking bears from 1976. They've been trying to ram the bearpill down our throats for some time.
There's not one but two other people here who know about this abomination. My years of telling people about the faggotry in newer books has borne fruit.
Could be worse, could be the post hibernation bearplug.
