Whenever I see people hoping for a Fallout New Vegas 2, it’s depressing to realize that the Obsidian that made that game is effectively dead. The writing talent is long gone and have been replaced by women and trannies who are barely functional psychopaths. I know the diversity and inclusion rhetoric plays a huge hand in how people are selected, but why do these studios have a knack for hiring the most degenerate, low effort people imaginable to work on a part of the game that basically molds the structure and tone of the entire game? It’s just so bizarre how all of these writers that are being hired are all basically identical in terms of them being leftist, social media obsessed, and barely functional people who are most likely a nightmare to work with.

If you really want to hurt just realize GTA San Andreas will be the last good GTA, since they’ve not only got their claws in GTA VI, the trannies are already editing GTA V to make it terrible and sexually equitable

GTA IV was decent, but it was let down by the constant nagging cellphone mechanic and the needy and obnoxious friendship/relationship mechanic constantly getting in the way of all the action and missions.
GTA V singleplayer was fun at launch IMHO. I enjoyed the campaign. But the way they've exploited and capitalised on the multiplayer version is just depressing.
Lastly, time to start a fight with an unpopular opinion: Vice City was the best 3D GTA, not San Andreas.
I thought GTA V singleplayer was really fun too. I played it all the way through on way back on Xbox 360 near launch. Haven't touched it since either, live service multiplayer like that is the worst of multiplayer to me.
I'm with you too about Vice City. The way I always saw it, GTA 3 and SA were both hailed as much because of how advanced they were for when they released, while Vice City was actually the best overall. I never got bored playing through that story and it's one I've played at least a few times.
GTA V is the only one I've played all these years, but I'm starting to get a little bored with it. To be fair, I've been playing online in a private lobby for the past few years, so it's just me and the NPCs.
I want more realism from the next one. All buildings enterable. Vehicles having gas tanks that need to be refilled. NPCs living actual lives where they have homes, jobs, and don't despawn when you're not looking.
The vehicle despawning drove me nuts all the way back to the first one, haha.
You see a nice car you want to grab, it takes a turn behind a building, and when you catch up, it's disappeared into oblivion. Infuriating.
But yeah, GTA with a more realistic fully-simulated world would be pretty fucking amazing.

I tried to play in line with the story. Niko had a new life, and didn't want to kill anymore, so I avoided combat, and obeyed traffic rules. Roman calls, and it takes half an hour to drive to the other side of the city. When I got back to where I was, Roman calls again. I immediately stopped caring about traffic rules. Defeated the impact of when Niko had to kill again, for the story, when I had already run people over.
I didn't do any of the other stuff you said, but yes, this was a major problem I had with the story. They want to talk about how Niko is so sympathetic and was traumatized by killing and doing all these horrible things in the war... but you're just a psychopath running people over while he cracks wise at bodies flying off the hood. Dumb.
I was so happy when I learned of the exploit of simply turning your damn phone off. It was the only way to "maintain" the relationship mechanic while actually playing the game you want to play. Anything else (letting the phone ring or telling the person to fuck off) penalized you. Oh, and I loved how if you randomly DID want to throw darts the other friend could tell you to fuck off with no penalty.

There were warning signs in gta iv, thankfully when the regressive left is dealt with these can easily be censored when the game is ported to a new version of rage.
Chris Avellone is the perfect example of what happened. Massive resume with a ton of good titles on it, but a bit of an awkward guy IRL so he gets a bunch of #MeToo allegations thrown at him and is basically blacklisted. (Edit - and a lot of people who had worked with him for years just blindly believed the #metoos) Hopefully the libel lawsuit comes out as a win for him, but it was filed in CA so I'm doubtful.

Horizon Forbidden West. It has major issues with not loading chunks fast enough when you open a door, leading to you falling through the floor or objects spawning on top of you.
Solved at least as long ago as Metroid Prime, where sometimes doors would take extra long to open because the areas behind them needed more time to load. This is like game programming 101 type shit and they still somehow forgot to implement it.
If the area has an unloaded floor-collision, simply add a tiny animation, door is "stuck", you need to put your back into opening it in a way that takes 3 seconds. Still unloaded? Repeat animation.
That's the thing. HFW already has things like that. There are doors that need to be pried open for no reason other than because prying takes extra long, thereby giving the game more time to load what's behind it. So someone at that company understood the concept. But I guess not everybody.
What if the problems I have with games isn't problems that had been solved years ago, or worse are problems the industry INVENTED years ago?

Unpopular opinion: KOTOR was the last worthwhile game Bioware made.
I don't know if I'd necessarily call that an unpopular opinion. Everything post-KOTOR (from Jade Empire and beyond) has been a downhill slide. Sure, there have been some bright points, but even the relatively good ones like Dragon Age: Origins and the first Mass Effect were marred by MS and EA forcing MTX into the equation.
There's enough Dragon Age and Mass Effect fan boys out there that I feel confident my opinion would be pretty unpopular in a crowd.
Baldur's Gate 2 was the studio's magnum opus but I don't think most modern Bioware fans would be able to appreciate that masterpiece.

Planescape: Torment was not actually a Bioware game.
Baldur's Gate 2 was a complete package whereas Planescape kind of fell apart in some of its basic game design. I challenge anyone to make it through the game as a mage without either installing a mod or screaming at their monitor once they realize how much the game actually limits your spellcasting. That said, all is forgiven because of just how good some of the dialogue choices are. I will never get over the finale and my jaw dropping as I was presented with no less than 17 dialogue options, including ones that referenced a macguffin I'd been lugging around since the start of the game and had long since assumed I was supposed to have discarded. Very good experience, but I've never gone back for a second playthrough, whereas I've genuinely lost count of how many playthroughs I have on BG2.
That is unpopular. Sure kotor was better then DA: Origins but Origins was a good game, interesting game mechanics and had an interesting world. Same with ME.
My unpopular opinion is that ME2 is not as good as people make it out to be. I was not a fan of the armor/shield mechanics and I felt that the renegade/paragon dialogue options were not as well done as ME, although I can't exactly explain why.
My problem with ME series entirely was that it made paragon options idealistically good. You save the queen rachni or cure the genophage and there is only positive outcomes. In retrospect that seems such a leftist idea. There is no down side for taking the "good" options, ever.
Most people who worked on the games you loved are probably working elsewhere now. Best case now is to study the games you loved by them and take what works and make your own.
They people who built these companies were largely nerds who never grew backbones as adults. It's tragic really.
The old adage of "It's not what you know, but who you know". A healthy host has the rot set in from its HR team. Those HR people almost always know a guy, who knows another guy etc etc. Before you know it you're infested ticking timebomb activists, ready to mask off at a moment's notice.
People play these games modded to hell and back and then forget how completely broken the vanilla experience is. Then give the devs the credit for making all those great memories.
I'd argue that fans of Bioware/Obsidian placing their games in any high notes have done incredible damage to the industry by allowing the "just release it broken, mods or patches later will fix it!" mindset to permeate.
Even modded with the sole purpose of fixing the games, FO3/NV are still broken as all fuck. Every fix just makes something else more unstable. You want a ticrate fix and a memory allocation fix? Congrats, now your save corrupts randomly, and you're still gonna crash all the time.
And that's not even going into stuff that you can't fix, period. Like basic movement. Running diagonally on keyboard or jumping are both FUBAR.

They went from an all white retelling of Polish fantasy to a murky brown cast of racing druggies in a tranny truck. If Cyberpunk really wanted to "Examine society from a good guy's perspective" it would start with asking why every character looks like a cross between a goblin and a mudshark and end with the protag shooting every druggie fuckfiend and the people who enable it.

The game has plenty to criticize, as did the company actions. But the point being is how quickly everyone treats them as bad as fucking Bethesda after a few slipups compared to most companies decades of offenses.

I think in a lot of ways it was inevitable due to the evolution of gaming. Not necessarily the woke infusion, but the rest of it. Everything has gotten too big and complicated and takes way too much manpower and money. Game development is no longer a labor of love but profit and marketing driven.
I actually blame a lot of this on journalism which I guess is actually appropriate with this sub. When they aren't being paid off, they go around making the same demands and critiques so we end up with pretty graphics and a huge bare and boring open world overlaid with a leftist story because that's going what gives the game journalists the biggest orgasms and sells their games to the "I still preorder things" crowd.
But nonetheless, it's gone to me. I'd love to see some western indie RPGs come out. So far I don't think I've seen anything in the style of a Bioware or Obsidian yet, at least that made it past my anti-woke filters. Maybe it will come as it gets easier to do that type of development.

It’s like a brain infection. Once the infection is in, it’s very difficult to remove it. And it’s hard to convince an infection to leave on their own.

Didn't Obsidian do Torment: Tides of Numenera? That game was made when other companies were going under and it turned out well received by players.
They made Pillars of Eternity. InExile made Torment: Tides of Numenera. Unfortunately InExile is lead by people who are very dedicated to the woke cult. All of the Western RPG studios (and probably all game studios) have been infected by the cult.
Here's the thing about western RPGs: Their core principles are absolute freedom in character customization and open world. It's more of a sandbox than anything. Meanwhile jRPGs, good ones at least, focus on specifically crafted world with specifically crafted character who are meant to deliver a specific message through their story.
Western RPGs are simply too liberal to tell a good story because they are saddled with sandbox expectations.
