Exclusive | Suspect in fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson ID’d as Luigi Mangione, an ex-Ivy League student
The suspect nabbed in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is an anti-capitalist Ivy League grad who liked online quotes from “Unabomber’’ Ted Kaczynski —&nb…
We know more about this guy than we do any of the Trump assassins.
And conveniently they found it all with him at the time. Like all of it. Including, get this, all relevant scapegoat information to further censor and subjugate the internet with, because he liked some people who did some things. Wow, they really lucked out with this.
They should play the lottery with luck like this. They might even know who wins ahead of time with a crack team like that.
Alright, I'll just eat the downvotes. We have a normal amount of information about all of these people.
Thomas Matthew Crooks was shot on scene. There is extensive video of him at the scene at all stages of the crime. His life history is brief and boring. We have pictures of him and video of him in a Blackrock commercial that was filmed at his school. We know he donated to through ActBlue. We have hearsay about his social media posts.
Ryan Wesley Routh didn't manage to fire a shot and was arrested after a short pursuit. There is video of his arrest. He has an extensive criminal record. We know he supported Ukraine and we have photos of him at a rally in Kyiv.
For this guy, Luigi Mangione, we now know where he went to school, we have some photos and some hearsay about social media posts. We have surveillance photos of him at various locations. The same amount of info, if not less.
Someone finally does something you've been fantasizing about your whole life and you still think it's a psyop. Take your meds.
His name sounds like Luigi's mansion, and an NBC journalist either last night or the night before tried to pin this on Among Us. I mean, come on now. It's just hanging there.
I didn't imply that it was a psy op, I did say however, that we know very little about the people that tried to shoot Trump compared to this guy.
This dude was allegedly caught with everything you'd need to convict, and also condemn/shift blame/whatever to things on the internet that a lot of people really want to censor.
It just doesn't pass the smell test, friend. If you want to get away with something, you wouldn't keep all that incriminating evidence on you, and lug it around for a week, and have social media up and running on your laptop at your own arrest. So he must have wanted to be caught.
It's the only way this scenario makes sense to me.
Thank you for bringing the information. I don't think you will get downvoted though...
Odd indeed.
He had negative interactions with the industry, because he had interacted with the industry. Huh. What an odd thing to say.
Every picture they release of this man just further prevents any female member of this country from being allowed on the jury.
The truly picked a bad patsy for this, as unlike all their other shooters, he isn't some gremlin with psychotic eyes that can be easily dismissed.
You're assuming they're going to allow this to go to trial, and he doesn't get Epstein'd to conveniently close the case?
Considering he is already reaching folk hero status for shooting a member of the elite on the street, I think they know they can't do something at blatant as that and hope to suppress the bubbling he turned up.
But I do doubt he will see a jury of any kind either, it'll be some legal fuckery to railroad him into perma solitary where they can drive him insane.
Adamrises is right. If they Epstein this dude he will reach mythical status. Dude will be the new Che.
Ok? And? When will people finally eat the rich? Wake me up when the folks storm CEO mansions like J6.
Like real J6 or like leftist fanfic J6?
Inb4 Hollywood actually does it so they can get Jack Gyllenhaal to do the biopic movie about things and not have to pay royalties.
Or he gets a visit in prison and goes stark raving mad like Jack Rubenstein.
Everyone wanted Epstein dead - it's bound to be way easier to persuade a prison guard to look the other way while you murder him if the victim has already been let off with a slap on the wrist once for pimping out teenage girls. This guy assassinated the CEO of the worst health insurer in the industry - a man whose company defrauded countless people who were forced by the government to do business with him. Epstein has more in common with the man he assassinated than with him.
Both the left and right like him. He will not see a jury.
Let me get this straight:
Killer is Luigi Mangione, Ivy League grad with degrees in comp sci, avid reader and active contributor on GitHub.
He has a 130+ IQ but he takes off his mask at a Starbucks to flirt with an employee, then an hour later goes and calmly kills the CEO of a major healthcare company, and rides away on a bike.
A week later goes to a local McDonalds where he brings the murder weapon, the fake ID he used to check into a hotel, and a written manifesto on how horrible the American healthcare system is. He somehow gets identified by the cashier after he sits down.
He works on his laptop until police come inside the McDonalds, sitting there with a ghost gun and suppressor he made himself.
Gotcha.
He flirted with the girl a week before he did the assassination. It's still a weird story, but that part has an explanation.
Where are you going with this? That he made obvious fuck ups? Sounds like human behaviour in extreme situations because assassination isn't exactly a side-gig you can pick up and get used to. If he had military background and deployment history on the other hand...
Very few people get to the point of murder while retaining all other rational faculties. This is some Mary's room shit too, unless you've committed a serious crime yourself and gotten away with it, you don't know what it's like.
I am not like lesser men. I could murder and get away with it no problem. In fact, murder might not even be wrong for men of my caliber. Built different.
Well folks, I can hear the narrative wheels turning already. He likes Uncle Ted so this is all somehow our fault and censoring social media will put a stop to any and all violence anywhere ever.
what the fuck is with you people? have you actually been successfully propagandized into thinking nothing ever happens? oooh he's too educated to be a vigilante killer - so what, you're all saying you have to be a dumb retard to do anything good in the world?
this guy is literally the worst person they could frame. he could have escaped at any point but clearly intended to get caught, which makes the police look stupid and like they lucked out, and is handsome to the ladies and wealthy and educated, which shows that everyone who thinks killing is a problem solver isn't Cleetus rolling around in the mud.
there is no conspiracy here. we've been handed what is ostensibly a win and you mongoloids want to pretend it's actually more 5D chess from the unbeatable cosmic creatures that control us down to the atom. fuck me.
Tend to agree with you on this one
The population of this site is equal parts schizos, retards, actual paid foreign operatives, and bots. It's the result of multiple filters. First you've got TIA, then that split to form KIA, then that split to form KIA2, then that split to KIA2.win. Each one of those steps is filtering 50-95% of the norm, so we're down to the literal 0.01% of disagreeableness.
We should get to wear the Sorting Hat when we first sign up to see which population we fall in to!
None of that pansy British boarding school larp shit. This deep in the internet dystopia pit we use the Neuromancer AIs to vivisect people's psyches thank you very much.
Why did he not flee the country? I dont understand this at all.
He was found barely a few hours away, with a manifesto, ID used in the shooting, and possibly the gun itself on him in a random McDonald's with his entire internet history wide open filled with easily found political quotes and ideologies, and "friends" from his past already weighing in about him.
Either he was trying to get caught or its a complete conjuration from the Feds to stop the egg on their face.
None of it makes sense. This guy isn't an idiot, he should have known places to get rid of all that shit where it never would have been found.
All I can think is maybe it's a real "it's not about the money it's about the message" moment, and he had intent to go immediately onto making more examples.
He was supposedly booksmart. It doesn't guarantee smartness and competence in every domain. Or at least under pressure, anyways.
Edit: as Bandolier suggests, it could be part of his plan (or instruction).
Also, there is a certain point where if you think you are smart, you will make a lot of stupid mistakes thinking you are smarter than the people coming after you. It has been the doom of a ton of "smart" killers in history.
The problem is that most of those mistakes happen due to overconfidence in thinking one's self clever and capable of continuing to stay ahead. This guy was caught putting in literally zero effort to hiding not even a week later in an almost comical sense.
If he had been caught like this the next day, that might be the case. But the prep and escape he demonstrated are completely inconsistent with this lack of any effort after.
This times a thousand.
He could have systematically dismantled the weapon and tossed bits and pieces of it into random trash bins around the city while making his escape. There would be no way for anyone to link it back to him if it was wrapped in random trash wrappers or rubbish.
He could have stayed in a rundown motel living off of microwave food for a week until the media circus died down, and then easily skipped down any number of different ways and hid out in some rickety no-name, middle-of-nowhere bed and breakfast in midwest America until a few months pass and then leave the country.
Even with all of the surveillance, there are still easy ways to stay hidden, and he didn't seem bothered to make any effort to stay hidden at all, assuming this is all above board information.
There are a million easy things he could have done, because he had given them the complete slip and the last they had on him was a bus with 6-7 stops to narrow from. And that was day one, which means by now he could have been anywhere in the country, burying evidence under random trees hundreds of miles from each other as he just started over in any random town. Because all they had to recognize him was a poor image of a smile from under a hood at a bad angle.
As the day has progressed, I've become more and more certain that in the event this isn't a complete patsy from the FBI (which its almost too good to be true to not be) that he absolutely intended to get caught to spread his message.
Everything you figured out is something a professional investigator would figure out too.
anyone with a goodreads account and logs (brag) about what books they've read is an idiot.
Guy, how do you get a computer science degree and not learn about operational security?
I know actual, real, working computer engineers who only do transactions in cash, because they know very well about "customer loyalty programs" and what they are for, and how often they "leak".
Did this guy do his "How to murder" research on the open web? Is he mentally ill?
Could be that he just wants the government to pay for his medical bills. Three hots and a cot with paid medical doesn't sound to bad, especially since NY doesn't have a death penalty.
Except people in law enforcement by principle would look in those kind of places first because they're not dumb NPCs in some mid stealth game.
By "places to get rid of all that shit where it never would have been found" I'm thinking of stuff like burning the IDs and passport in a fire and stirring the ashes.
The gun's harder, but spraying it down with brake cleaner, running a rat tail file down the barrel, disassembling it, smashing the major components with a sledge, and throwing all the pieces in random bodies of water or wooded areas anywhere along his 5-day journey would do the trick.
It's not rocket science: don't keep the shit with you or any place associated with you, and destroy it before disposing of the remains in places that have no connection to you.
Yeah, there's a lot that doesn't add up here.
Although some of that could just be that the story was blown out of proportion to begin with, so people were prescribing a lot more competence to the shooter than was actually merited.
I thought from the start this was merely...baseline competence. More than we've seen from some losers, and he gets credit for not immediately running after the shots (thus drawing immediate attention), but he brought a gun to the assassination that didn't even cycle.
So, yeah, some of the confusion could just be that people were expecting some elite assassin, when it could (emphasis on could, we still don't know the full story) just be some random retard.
I don't think professional assassins are anywhere near as capable as people think they are. I have no proof of this, of course, but I suspect it's mostly Hollywood glamorization. Just think of how competent they made secret agents, and then compare that to the clowns we have running the intel agencies.
Or imagine a movie like Olympus has Fallen with Gerard Butler being a super super secret service agent. And then remember that the SS is actually a bunch of retards that in broad fucking daylight, let a dude carry a ladder, set ladder up to a roof, climb up, post up on the roof with an AR-15, point it at former/campaigning President, and take a shot before they capped him.
If the COVID era taught me anything it's that most people are retarded, and that includes those same people when acting in their "professional" capacity. Teachers, nurses, doctors, scientists, cops, etc. Assassins probably are not some exception to this rule.
"We were just pretending to be retarded" -- Secret Service
I mean, to be fair, weren't the other agents, while not pants-on-head retarded, not so bright/competent? Butler's character was the exception (to an unrealistic degree, of course), and we weren't supposed to believe all SS agents were like that. Most of the SS got mowed down by equally retarded terrorists, or something.
Yeah but that's storytelling and portrayal. If everyone is a badass then the movie can't have a hero save the day. So I think that had less to do with them be generous to reality and more about power scaling for the sake of action.
Also, the secret service were compromised because Dylan McDermott's character sabotaged their protocols, which led to them getting ambushed.
Yup, can't argue with that.
True, I should have specified. I meant that Hollywood brand of professional assassin.
The only real life requirement to be a "professional assassin" is to be unscrupulous or otherwise twisted enough to accept payment to attempt to kill someone. It might be a somewhat rare breed, but that doesn't mean it's exactly a high bar. You have to crawl under a low bar to be a professional assassin, not leap some elite hurdle.
Point is, people were heaping all sorts of perceived competence on this guy that he probably didn't deserve. At least, that's one explanation.
Cops always say that if you're a normie who isn't in the system for anything over a traffic infraction, go to another state, kill someone you have no connection to whatsoever, and never tell anyone about it, they won't be able to catch you.
Most people aren't psychotic enough to be able to keep that kind of shit to themselves.
The assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in 2010 showed a pretty high level of coordination and sophistication, from what I remember of Dubai's investigation.
My guess would be that he was using underpowered ammunition rather than a faulty weapon. He was already using a silencer, so subsonic ammunition would be a plausible choice even if it wasn't enough to reliably power the semi-automatic action of the pistol.
I hear that it was a 3d printed gun so the malfunction makes sense. In my limited experience they need a significant amount of breaking in to get them to function as well as an off the shelf version. A friend of mine made one and it jammed a lot
Awww, fuck. A 3D printed gun, and a suppressor? Welp.
They're going to redouble their efforts to throw the First and Second Amendments out the window, aren't they?
No doubt lol. Everyone go download your gun cads now in case you want them in the future and they’re harder to find
The 3d printed gun uses a Glock style mechanism and Glocks and their clones need modification in order to run suppressors. The added forward weight of the can makes an unmodified Glock not operate correctly.
From what I saw it was a standard metal Glock slide and barrel. Wouldn’t it only need a threaded barrel to put a suppressor on?
Glocks should be equipped with a Nielson Device when shooting with a suppressor.
Why did he still have his gun? That thing should have been at the bottom of a riverbed in Wisconsin by that midnight.
Maybe if he was going to go down blasting, but he didn't.
We may find out soon enough. With how things sound presently, I think he wanted to be caught after letting the mystery and hysteria build up about him.
My theory was he took a bus to Canada right after leaving NY then going to Cuba or whatever
With eyebrows like that, no fucking wonder he was IDed.
Right now I'm thinking 80% chance this is a fed op and 20% this was a legitimate wildcard.
If it was a fed op they wouldn't have made him an Ivy League anti-capitalist. Look at the article - "he has a Republican cousin" is the closest they could get to pinning this on the right.
His youtube channel's already been taken down, in case anyone was still naive enough to think the video would get released
After occupy wallstreat we had all companies pushing gay propaganda and made the left love them and funny enough the right hated them.
Considering both left and right consider this guy as a hero, what will be the next big thing? Patriotism, charity, double down on woke?
Sorry for the delay, central casting took a while to find this one.
He's not very smart if he thought he could schedule a video like this on Youtube and actually have it come out.
Hate to point the obvious but if he wanted to succeed he should have changed his name to Mario. Clearly not that smart.
Manifesto video, eh? Anyone got a link handy or has that already been memory holed?
TLDR (if to be believed) UHC kept denying claims for his mom's chronic pain, which he watched her suffer with for years. Ideologically it's incoherent, because (if the writing is to be believed) it's clearly a deeply personal matter he's trying to rationalize.
Just read that he had back issues.
Bullshit.
If the stuff around his manifesto is true I'm weakly leaning to the opinion that he wanted to get caught.
No idea why he didn't just hand himself in or do some publicity in the meantime but who knows.
