Final round of most prestigious national high school debate tournament. Team A tells Team B they won't debate assigned topic (benefits/costs of the IMF) because trans people are being genocided by MAGA Republicans and that is way more important (twitter.com)

There were two distinct schools of thought among proponents of gamergate:

  1. this psychotic woke tyranny is largely isolated to academia, and these kids are in for a very rude awakening when they collide with the real world outside of their university hugboxes

  2. this psychotic woke tyranny is already making its way into the halls of power and could unilaterally dominate our culture, our industries, and our governments very soon

Looking back on it now, most of the people in the first camp developed terminal TDS and eventually outed themselves as crypto leftists. They refused to acknowledge that their side had been completely taken over by Marxism, and now they spend their days fighting the imagined fascism of MAGA white nationalism.

TLDR: fuck you lying classical liberal/libertarian retards, we were right

  1. This psychotic woke tyranny stuff actually emerged from the halls of power because we were already deeply subverted by the time the tranny shit rolled out in force. That's the one I believe.

Ironically, these debate teams were set to discuss the IMF in the final round. So woke retards leveraged an unrelated social issue in order to avoid discussing global finance. Kind of amazing.

Bureaucracy is too slow and stupid to create something like this. It's powerful but the way it works is mostly by reacting to and exploiting opportunities that arise. You can see this with covid for example - remember the first 2 months when the legacy media was calling it just the flu? And then saying not to wear masks because they don't work? They're powerful but slow as shit.

GG has, and always will suffer from the fact that a lot of the people in it were leftists who found themselves cast out, willing to do anything to get back within the loving confines of the herd. Just like a Soviet praising Comrade Stalin as he was led to the wall, or a member of Mao's government clutching his Little Red Book as he's beat to death by the Red Guards, what's happening to them is just a silly little mistake, and if the cool kids knew about it, everything would be cool, right?

The problem with that is all totalitarian governments spend massive amounts of time and effort making sure that their voice is the only one heard, and that everyone knows what the price of dissent and defection is. The average person might realize that they're being lied to and slowly starving to death, but everyone who leaves just disappears.

But I do agree with you in spirit, and I know people who defected from both countries. Hell, I know someone who defected on an embassy trip in Detroit in the 70s, because he realized that Detroit was the shittiest town in the US, and it was as nice as the average Soviet town.

The average person might realize that they're being lied to and slowly starving to death, but everyone who leaves just disappears.

This comes to mind:

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn , The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956

Even the right-wing people still on half-KiA tend to have a lot of problems though. They think the cultural stuff is far more divorced from politics than it is. For example, they might see something like black Little Mermaid as just being woke virtue signaling instead of seeing it as propaganda in service of physical demographic replacement of actual white people.

There was never a need for "eventually." GG was always openly and loudly calling itself a Liberal movement, with most people writing screed after rant about how they were the True Left and how the Woke were just perverting "good" ideas.

KIA1 tried to ban any T_D poster because they were that afraid of the fact that Trump people might be in their midst. Shit last time I was there they were fellating that Narwhaltz tranny's every single post and word.

If the Woke had gone a little slower and less obvious, a solid 70% of the GG supporters would have followed them to the end and still be right there marching with them.

"Classical liberalism" is divided between those with genuine interest in 17th-early19th century republican (the way Europeans use that word) tradition, and those with a misplaced sentimental attachment to mid-to-late 20th century center-left societal tendencies. I almost don't blame the latter for their desperate behaviors, being the largest politically homeless grouping in current era.

I utterly forgot about first kia pre-emptively banning t_d posters. That's irritating because that subreddit winds up with so many lost morons posting typical internet noise, separate form the confused leftists described in this thread. It wasn't about quality control (old t_d was basically a parody of ordinary reddit) but optics.

By "classical liberal" they unfortunately seemed to all mean "Bush-Era Democrat." What they saw as Pre-Woke Leftism, with all the same policies and just less "crazy." Not even the "colorblindness" of the late 20th century, as shown by their rush to prop up every minority (race, gender, sexuality) to their talking heads and leadership, but the on the cusp of Intersectionality wokeness about how someone being a "gay Jew who loves blacks" somehow makes them super worth supporting.

The T_D ban gets forgotten a lot, probably because it got dropped after heavy, instant backlash. Which I'll give the userbase credit for, at the time they still had some free speech principle to them over their Leftism. Though if you said the meanie things about women or blacks of gays, then all that went out the window.

I consider anyone who espouses classical liberalism, i.e. "woke leftists aren't really liberals because dictionary definition from 1830" to be apologists for all of the crimes against humanity that liberals have performed. They're the non-woke version of self flagellating white liberals.

Another actual quote. "I feel like a lot of judges don't realize, like, how violent debate is"... In reference to being misgendered.

You could spend hours trying to explain the fundamental material differences between violence and mean words, and they still wouldn't believe you. But a 2 minute demonstration at any point in their lives would probably fix that.

To be fair, I competed in debate in high school and university. The one thing I learned was that winning a debate has absolutely nothing to do with what you said and everything to do with how you said it. The good debaters make other people feel good about what they say. Debating is basically nothing more than being a con-artist in debate format.

And this is 100% correct of an assessment. Anyone ever in an argument with a woman before would recognize the implications. When a woman is proven wrong in an argument she spins the whole argument to be about how the way in which the man showed her she was wrong is wrong.

That's debate in a nutshell. You can be 100% right but if you said it in a manner the women didn't like, it doesn't matter how right you are.

They're usually not "debating" in the sense of critically thinking together with the shared goal of arriving at the truth or a workable hypothesis, they're just "sharing." It's only about emotions and social signals, not the actual conceptual content or the pragmatic questions of what and how to do things.

There's a speech is violence section (paraphrased later on too). Complaining that the participants as well as the judges should be able to call out 'violence' when they experience it.

You'd think debate club would be the last place the 'I win because feelings' would pervade. How did they win that argument? Debate is over now, just say trans.

If the woke revolution ended tomorrow, it would take at least two generations to clear the damage from the essential systems of the West. These kids ARE learning. They aren’t learning how to think, but how to get what they want with credible threats.

Imagine you’re on trial for a notorious crime of which you are innocent, and one of these kids, now all grown up, is representing you but doesn’t like your politics. Or the judge, prosecutor and defense attorneys all agree that your adherence to some belief that nearly everyone shared at the turn of the 21st century makes you very bad—and so the facts of your case are beside the point because society is better off with you safely locked away.

This madness is already affecting the courts. At some point it will dominate them. And there can be no West without impartial courts obligated to follow rules that favor no one. We must #RekindleTheWest. Immediately.

Imagine you’re on trial...

No need to imagine. Ask men who have been railroaded by the legal system and "family courts" since the end of no-fault divorce because of a bias towards women. Hey, nobody likes racists, right? I suppose it's possible a notorious racist could get a fair trial, but I wouldn't bet on it. "Racism" is not against the law, but you're not allowed to be "racist" if you want to make it in life.

And there can be no West without impartial courts obligated to follow rules that favor no one.

No such thing. This kind of entrenched liberal philosophy even among normal people is why I'm doubtful the woke revolution will end any time soon. This person fails to acknowledge that extreme diversity of people and by extension ideas prevents you from having a functioning culture with any idea of impartial courts. There is ALWAYS some bias. Whether it be based on Christian traditionalism, protestant work ethic, common law, our ideas of property and ownership, or a belief in disparate impact theory. These traditions passed down by family and later codified in law school sort of become axiomatic principles in our minds that we are unable to remove from our decision making process. We can enjoy courts that appear fair when we live in cultures that are homogenous enough that bounds of the most extreme views (something related to the Overton window I guess) of any jurist fall within the acceptable range of fairness for all "reasonable persons" within that jurisdiction.

Yes the wokism cult will make things much worse, but it's magnifying a pre-existing problem. Until the whole world finally becomes a Communist paradise and then all courts will be fair and just to the workers of the world.

Not just family courts. Look at Derek Chauvin's trial. At no point could he possibly have gotten a fair and unbiased trial when all the jury members were comprised of people biased against him.

Not a jury trial, but I thought of this example from a few months ago: https://archive.ph/da835

A judge has dismissed charges against three Native American women for their efforts to disrupt construction of the Line 3 pipeline, citing what the “dominant culture” did to “try to eradicate our indigenous neighbors.”

On Thursday, District Court Judge Leslie Metzen dismissed all charges against all three women.
“In the last 20 years I have come to a broader understanding of what we, the now dominant culture did to try to eradicate our indigenous neighbors. We moved them by force and power and violence off the land where they lived for thousands of years. To make peace, we signed treaties with them that promised many things they never received,” Metzen wrote in a memo accompanying her order.
“When they had been forced to live within reservation boundaries, we stole their children; forced them to attend boarding schools where their language, long hair, spiritual beliefs, and contact with their families were forbidden. Many of them died from disease, violence, and some probably from a broken heart. I know only enough of this history to wonder how those of us in the ‘dominant culture’ could ever have thought any of these actions were okay or justifiable,” she continued.
Metzen described the actions of the defendants as an “expression of their heartfelt belief that the waters of Minnesota need to be protected from damage that could result from the pipeline.”

I'm a Native dude (Lakota Tribe). Generally speaking I hate when either side of the political aisle bring us into conversation for reasons like this. It's a bad example of the original subject.

The above case you mentioned has a little bit more nuance involved. This wasn't so much woke as it was the US having to rapidly back-peddle their enforcement of laws because that pipeline crossed into territory protected by US treaty and thus by their own agreement the US had no claim to continue.

Debate as a sanctioned sport has been like this since before any of us were probably alive. Its just a game of teaching people how to do politician rants, where you manipulate the audience into think "you good, other side bad" and then handing you the W off that. Its got about as much depth as the Family Guy episode where Lois wins all political debates by saying 9/11 over and over to rile people up and ignore her actions.

The only thing that stopped this kind of political angle prior was probably stricter rules against doing it this directly on the nose. But as we know from the "say trans rights" meme, you can't even cite "we don't wanna get into it" against the trannies.

The purpose of debate is not to win a logical argument. A society capable of having civilized debate, is not really arguing. They have a common framework and cultural goals.

The left understands they can continually cuck the other side. They win because of this. All they have to do is refuse to abide by the rules, while insisting you constrain yourself to them. Which the right continually does.
