The funny thing is I still can't see any evidence of Twitter dying other than a bunch of Twitter addicts screaming about it's death on Twitter.

That didn't stop them from saying Trump was the worst president since Hitler.

I mean he did murder less syrian children than obama. I'm honestly quite surprised that biden isn't out there with an ak47 in each hand trying to make up for lost time.

Wasn't Hitler democratically elected? I don't think we can accurately call him a dictator.

The title was not "king" or "dictat" or "general", it was "chancellor". The head clerk.

If you are elected and then declare emergency powers, ignore constitution and start declaring your word is law and checks and balances no longer matter, and outlaw other parties, you are a dictator.

The emergency powers were not lifted during Hitler's reign as chancellor.

Major advertisers pulling out is certainly concerning at least in the short term.

Of course, that's not actually organic and is the corporate equivalent of ESG REEEing.

Here's a good post why Twitter is still running fine.
The best part: from the post you don't know if the guy writing it is still employed/left some time ago/ recently got fired. Also the words "elon" or "musk" don't appear a single time. Just a good post about what they did on a technical end.

This is the same type of shit they used to say about Trump.

Here’s the thing, under Elon’s leadership, Spacex became the first and only private company to ever go to space. Under Elon’s leadership, Tesla released the first electric car that anybody actually wanted to buy.

Under their “adult in the room” Parag Agrawal’s leadership, twitter was a slow, buggy barely usable piece of shit, and it wasn’t even profitable.

They used to talk about how Trump was a child who had to be handled, but the results speak for themselves. Trump’s America was a time of prosperity. “Adult in the room” Biden’s America is a time of decline.

The fact that both Elon and Trump are crass jokesters seems childlike to them, but in reality humor is a sign of intelligence, and it shows.

Excellent comment. Trump and Elon bring a certain style and substance, whereas Biden is certainly stale and on substances.

SpaceX is also the only private company to put people in space as well, and now launches crew members to the ISS.

All of this for far cheaper than NASA can, oh wait NASA can't.

Twitter is, for sure, a place barely worth salvaging. There was nothing to ruin.

SpaceX and its ilk didn't exist not that long ago.

It seems hard to do wrong in either of those cases -- either you're successful or you're not.

Yes that detail was totally necessary for the story. 😂

Everything after that is how people deal with the boss at any company. Office politics.

The best part “we had to manage our boss” then lists how they were just slacking on the job. It’s clear the “intern” wasn’t anything but a coffee runner listening to gossip and taking it as gospel. Midwits showing how completely useless they are.

When Hearthstone came out I know most people in my office played it. I know people in IT admin that play FIFA/WoW when they are bored and have nothing to do.
It's the nerdy way of "lets meet in the kitchen and talk for 30min"
It's normal and the bosses know.

As long as you get your job done in time and are productive in general, no one cares. Especially when you do it while staying late and you answer questions your coworkers have who are working late. It's the same reason why all those cool gimmicks like yoga room, sleeping cabs, ... exist in those companies. They want you to stay late and enjoy your time there. Even if you do 15min more work after playing WoW for 2hours then it's better than you leaving immediately.

– Strike08 2 points 3 years ago +2 / -0

Yep. Most of the time it is done to reset your mind as being stuck because you tend to get stuck in a certain way of thinking when you get stuck on a single problem for a couple of hours. Just reset for 30 min and you can go continue with a fresh look at it. More efficient than staying stuck for 6 hours and then solving it in 10 min the next day.

I guess people who play wow have more privacy? It might be difficult to heal a raid with people coming by every few seconds.

▲ 3 ▼
– Grumman 3 points 3 years ago +3 / -0

Raids and dungeons might be off limits, but battlegrounds and world content should be fine if you just have to be on call until somebody has trouble that needs shooting. Just play something that can disengage from combat at will, like Mage, Paladin or Rogue.

The complaint is that he surrounds himself with people who know more about specific subject matter than he does & can present him with good ideas. I don't see how that's a bad thing.

It's bad because the retards that were at Twitter knew less about any subject matter than Elon and the world is only just now unearthing exactly how stupid they are.

Even if Elon Musk is as incompetent as this person says, he is still capable and smart enough to bring together people to make good things happen; which is a good skill to have when running a company.

And that is the impression of Elon Musk that I've gotten from watching interviews of him.

Elon Musk is pretty dang smart, he knows how to get the right people working for him, and he has passion, drive, and a vision for what he wants.

While I don't agree with everything that Elon believes, I can at least respect the accomplishments that his companies have made.

permalink parent save report block reply

This reminds me a lot of what they said about Trump in the White House. Everything kind of revolved around him and his decision making, with people from everywhere vying for his attention, with different groups attempting to gain favor by implementing different things, and being allotted different time and power.

I'm sorry, but it just sounds like the bureaucracy is struggling to understand what it's like when you have a central figure in power, and not a procedural, bureaucratic, technocracy. Power is just handled differently when some one person is in charge.

They don't get it.

Also, I don't believe that anyone ran fake scripts on his computer to look like code.

I actually ran continual pings on spare monitors to specific servers in order to prove that they were still running, and that was more than enough to convince people that something important was happening, and normally I'd just have to explain to them what I was doing and why it was important. If Elon really wanted to, he could do it himself.

Seriously, just open notepad / an ide with some code loaded and it looks more like coding than some script that automatically generates new lines.

Well of course, they are used to the Dems (and Bushs) being president. Where its just a figurehead for a council of elites who actually run the show behind them.

– Assassin47 1 point 3 years ago +1 / -0

They don't get it.

I thought exactly the same as you did after reading the post. These people just don't get human behavior. They've been coddled by hyper-socialization and indoctrinated by a collectivist, bureaucratic view of how society works. The managerial state has built upon itself over multiple generations to the degree that it's become a self-sustaining machine with written and unwritten rules for every role, and if something doesn't follow those rules it's thrown out as politically incorrect, toxic, out of control, and doomed to failure. They actually like being cogs that fit in where everything just works a certain way. They can't imagine working directly under a strong captain who directly guides every motion of the ship - pre-conceived rules be damned - and where employees do their best to try to please the captain or at least give him 90% of what he wants. "You can't do this!" "It's unseemly."

That's all assuming good faith, which I don't necessarily in this post, but there are many such cases.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– Gizortnik 1 point 3 years ago +1 / -0

It's a slave mentality, but it's not a slave to a master, but a process itself.

If I didn't know better, I'd say the machines themselves were grooming people into being more controllable. They're not even obeying specific people, just the procedure, process, algorithm, or rules.

He is saying these things like they don't apply to almost every company, and what people say about their bosses. Like, that applies to almost every manager in existence if you ask their employees.

And "faking work" is the most office worm tradition in existence. Go ask imgur or reddit how many of them are browsing at work, and its probably more than it should be by a long shot.
