They don't see the difference. There's this fundamental disconnect in their minds and ours. They see both comedy and journalism as "telling people my opinions and getting praise for it" instead of as a service for the audience.

If you subscribe to their world view, this guy is ‘funny’ in that sense. If you believed all that nonsense, the structure of what this guy’s saying is comedy. The bigger issue is that some people actually believe that world view, despite all evidence to the contrary.

It is funny, to certain people. The issue is more that those people exist than the comedy. Kind of like when people around here make fun of wokies. If you don’t believe in that stuff, making fun of it is funny. If you do believe in it, the jokes don’t sound true and it stops being funny.

God, I hate the “trans people exist” busllhit so much though.

NOBODY is arguing that they don’t exist. We can fucking see and hear them with our eyes and ears. Nobody doesn’t believe they’re physically real with corporeal form. Such an idiotic fuckin talking point.

Our point of contention is that they’re WRONG, incorrect and misguided in believing that hacking stuff from their bodies and taking hormone pills means they’ve changed their gender. And they should stay THE FUCK AWAY from our children. That is the central crux of the issue here.

But the left being the left like to dumb things down into mental sound bites for their cultists. “Muh trans people exist!!! 😩”

Facepalm every time I hear that.

Yes, 100%. They've chosen this hill to die on, they won't back down from it, so they're making it imperative to stop them.

Equally important, from a societal health perspective, is that they stop forcing everyone to validate them. I know free speech doesn't seem as immediately urgent as protecting kids from them, but on a broader scale it's still extremely important. A society can't function if it's chasing a ridiculous delusion, forcing everyone to take part in it and criminalizing anything that disagrees.

The fact that all of their arguments are semantic nonsense that don't actually say anything, but get lapped up and cheered on anyway, is a sign of how bad things are.

I suppose part of the problem is that even in your response, you’re using ‘gender’ in the sense they use it instead of saying their ‘sex’. Gender used to just refer to the implied or analogous ‘sex’ of things that don’t have it, like words in languages like Spanish. It was just used at times as a synonym for sex outside of that. Now, it’s been completely corrupted.

I don't think there's a single stand up comedian who doesn't just lecture you and is for a change funny. Kevin Heart and Bill Burr don't do much lecturing, but they're extremely unfunny and just loud, maybe they even started lecturing I haven't seen any of their recent stuff.

Sad state of comedy when I have to watch some old Eddie Griffin and CK standups to actually get a chuckle out of a standup.

You want to know a good way to judge that you are TRULY accepted in society?

When people aren't afraid to make jokes about you even at your expense. That means they have accepted you to the point they can be honest about your hypocrisy and failings.

Those that target comedy are afraid of being in the light in such a fashion.

This is why I so often and openly joke about my own disabilities.

"Ooh, what'll I hyperfixate on THIS week? Ooh, can't wait to watch that new show and then zone out every 30 seconds to ponder some hypotheticals instead of focusing on watching the actual damn show!"

Believe me, it's the mundane stuff that's most likely to injure you.

I see the Young Bucks do the most amazing aerial moves and they're totally fine, but Santana does a simple uranage and tears his own ACL.

Another broke his kneecap on a baseball slide.

The high-flying stuff, believe it or not, is safer.

Honestly I gave it some thought and realized a different, more sinister reason on why they target comedy.

Laughter is healthy.

It stimulates organs, sorts out your blood pressure, improves mood, activates stress relief response, soothes tension, serves as a great coping method, works as a limited pain killer and builds up your immune system. It also is great socializing mechanism as laughing people are more attractive and attention grabbing.

Look at the people who often laugh. Look at a society that embraces laughs and jokes at their leaders as a coping mechanism. Look at people faces and just randomly smile and see what happens. Probably a smile back or other form of enthusiasm.

Now look at your typical SJW who rarely has a genuine laugh. Look at North Korea or other totalitarian shithole where laughing can get you beat up. Look at people faces in those places and just randomly smile and see what happens. Likely a bewildered look on a sick, depressed face interpreting your smile as mockery.

I don't know about you but I can see why deebie downers were jumped on recess back in high school. They are sick rats spreading the plague.

Laughter breaks tension, too. I've worked with kids for the better part of a decade -- from high class foreigners to literal juvenile delinquents, if you can make them laugh you can get through to them.

yeah that's an extremely good point. They want to be 'accepted' but they want to be protected from any criticism or jokes. They will never be truly accepted like that, they'll just have everyone too afraid to reject them. But they will be resented by everyone, even their so called allies, and their friendships will be entirely superficial. They will always know they are not really part of the gang.

YMMV- I guess I'm just disillusioned with <current year> Tv. Used to love watching QI, Nevermind the Buzzcocks, Mock the Week and at one time even Jon Stewarts' The Daily Show. Now, even if I watch the same scenes that would've had me roaring with laughter, I just feel bitter resentment once I learned where the logical conclusion to such ideology leads to. Can't stand watching TV now- especially since I can't help but pick up on all the lefty sub-text, bias and false narratives.

Comedians have been complaining for a while how they can't do good comedy anymore cause it might 'offend' someone. And since only one side for some strange reason has all the lynch mobs, guess who they have to jump through hoops to not so much as breath wrongly in the direction of?

But sure, keep jerking yourself off thinking you're the spunky little rebel fighting the big bad evil empire. I'm sure that'll work out wonderfully for you, in the end.

Joking about a thing is a sign you're comfortable with understanding the difference between humour and a serious issue.

People who conflate it are unable to find light in an issue. These people will be mad forever, their own hatred consuming themselves inside and out. Eventually, they show it, the way everyone views them, the way others treat them. These humans are naturally repulsive.

Don't be that guy. Make fun of others, make fun of yourself - because fun is what makes us human.

I can see humor in the last three panels, but it requires you to accept the stupid premise that trans people are as oppressed as they think they are.

The problem with comedy and stand up comedy in particular, in order to work it relies on widely understood truths, expectations and audience experiences. That's why leftist comedy doesn't usually work, it can't just fire off a couple of jokes that rely on audience understanding, it needs walls of text (literal or figurative) to explain its delusional, unreal context.

But this is simple at least. Since the Prevailing Narrative is trans people are oppressed and downtrodden, it can riff off that without much preamble. So it's funny? Sort of?

Still reads too much like bitching though. You can't do stand up comedy if you sound angry and tilted, that's the opposite of funny. Unless you want people laughing at you.

Because as we know. The standup comedy is so well known for not being an incestuous pit of leftwing progressives, and Jews if you want to go there. They certainly never close ranks to try and muscle out wrongthinkers and then use that leverage to keep clubs from booking them.

That's why the Blue Collar Boys and Carlos Mencia were so welcomed and beloved in their time, because they were the norm among comedians totally.

Stand-up comedy peaked in the late 90's - early 00's. Now for a majority of the time it seems like it's just whining, if this angry little boy is anything to go by.
