Top one should say “what if she falsely accuses me of rape?”

Irrelevant, such an accusation can still happen even if they never meet 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, but being noticed is step #1. This is why you don't lock eyes with strangers on the street.

Off topic but may as well ask it under this post, what is it with women and true crime series?

I mean the most I'll ever watch these kinds of things is because of the narrator/content creator, women seem to seek this stuff out all the time. Can't be planning the 'perfect crime' as that would fail 100% if the guy they choose has the 'do not hit women' switch turned off or is togglable..

It turns them on. Women are drawn to dangerous men because they crave domination.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 13 ▼
– SoctaticMethod1 13 points 3 years ago +13 / -0

And they seem to have a shit idea of what domination TRULY should be looking at the fiction they write for it. They latch onto whenever men write it though.

One of the funniest things I ever found out was that the author behind Redo of Healer, who wrote it as extreme as possible to stand out and fund his other work, had a majority female readership lol

Well, at its core, Redo of Healer is a love story. A romance.

Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi is good, but it's far from extreme I'd say.

Maybe 'most extreme that got an 'anime' adaption', unless there's another that isn't just straight hentai lol

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– Gemmaugr 3 points 3 years ago +3 / -0

Fair enough. There's Elfen Lied, Goblin Slayer and Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi, but it isn't quite as extreme. There are story-heavy hentai that might have passed as anime today though, like A Kite, Tiny Evil, and Rance 01 Hikari wo Motomete.

As for manga/Manhwa, there's Jigoku no Alice. Lion Coeur Senki. Maou no Hajimekata. Re:Monster. Fukushuu wo Koinegau Saikyou Yuusha wa, Yami no Chikara de Senmetsu Musou suru. Rosen Garten Saga. Gedou Tenisha no Harem Dungeon Seisakuki. Akuma datta kimitachi e. Gleipnir. Isekai Kuimetsu no Same. Ingoshima. Tentacle Hole. A Female warrior Who Fell to the Goblin Kingdom. etc.

I love that shit also, it's not just women. For me it's morbid curiosity, doesn't mean I think a murderer is around every corner... unless they're some minority.

All jokes aside its kinda weird how it's mostly women who are into it though, I know more women than men who enjoy that sort of content.

Women imagine themselves being murdered because they’re narcissists. They imagine the whole story is about them because for a woman she is the center of THE universe.

Gillian Anderson's character in the tv show The Fall (sucked don't recommend.) said something to the other detectives while looking into a serial killer that was something like

In a questionnaire when asked what men is most afraid of when it comes to women they said they fear women would laugh at them. When women are asked the same question about men they said they fear men would kill them.

And the room of male detectives fell silent and no one had an answer and everyone just kept their eyes down as if they felt ashamed of their gender.

Well motherfucker, I wish I was in the fucking room because if you make a goddammed square diagram of men and women with the same stupid question:

men -women: they might laugh at them at their insecurities. i.e. weight, status, hair, penis size, etc

women - men: they might kill them

men - men: they might kill them

women - women: they might laugh at their insecurities. i.e. fashion, weight, body and facial features, status, etc

What makes them not think males also perceive male strangers to be a threat, or at least a greater threat then a female. Oh right biology, they don't prescribe to that branch of science.

That "laugh at them/kill them" thing has been in a lot of TV shows recently to the point it feels very manufactured.

Legion series 3 had Sydney tell it to David/Legion in the first episode for some random reason, although considering the various characters in that show Syd was possibly the most pants on head retarded.

For example at one point Syd is talking to her younger self and the topic of the time young Syd sexualy assaulted her mother's date/boyfriend comes up. Background info is Syd had the power to become someone for a while and so "swaps bodies" with her mother, climbs into the shower with the date, and has sex with him. During this the date turns her around so she is facing away from him and the younger Syd asks why he did this.

Ignoring the whole point about how she deceives the date about who she really is, which then gets turned around on him after somehow, when you are both standing up, in a shower or otherwise, the anatomical and mechanical requirements for sex mean that a position where the woman is facing away from the man are needed. Because otherwise penetration isn't very likely to happen. Instead this gets explained away as men treating women in certain ways, rather tha than the truth of Syd being a complete moron, which is a running theme in the show.

Another example deals with how the show ends. Pretty much everything bad that happened to David/Legion is due to a very shitty childhood where his father, Charles Xavier, wasn't around. So to fix things time travel happens and this gets changed. While this does at least change David's life, for better or worse we never find out, it does absolutely nothing for Syd who only met David when he was 30 or something after he entered a mental hospital.

Syd still grows up to be a moron. She still fucks her mother's date. She probably still ends up in the mental hospital except this time David won't be there to help her get out!

But as I said, Syd being a moron is a running theme in the show so having her spout that laugh/kill line is perfectly in character because it's pants on head retarded.

You pretty well nailed it. They whimper and whine about “male gaze” and so on but where does the apparent pressure to look good cone from? Partly from within and heavily from other women mean-girling them. Biologically women are programmed to want to be desirable for reproduction, and part of that involves competition. It always made me laugh how women could complain about how it’s men demanding they look good, and yet there is also the universal joke about the woman coming home with a makeover or new hairstyle and the husband doesn’t notice. I’m married, this has quite literally happened in real life. Men have preferences but we don’t care half so much about what women look like as women do, both themselves and other women.

When I mention this on reddit they seem to blame these innocent victims because of their gender…

If you look up medieval bestiaries, you can find paintings of “giraffes” that are just spotted horses, where it’s clear that vague news of giraffes has trickled to Europe but the artist had clearly never seen one.

I get the same vibes from that picture of a “man.”

Edit: Also, they already don’t want men to talk to women in person, and it looks here like they’re beginning a movement that online dating is also the new “problematic” thing. I think I might know where this is trying to go, but I don’t want to speak it into existence. Thank god I’m old and safely married at this point, I couldn’t make hide or hair of the dating rules and standards Gen Z faces.

I didn't downvote him but I don't agree, and I'm certainly not gonna bother arguing with him either. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up the subject of a True Crime documentary one day, and frankly, the only thing I think could possibly help him is to join a monastery.

There are women who fake their fear, yes. Women's tears are weapons and many of them know it. On the other hand, I think women are naturally a bit androphobic, probably for good and deeply genetically-embedded reasons, but still not very rational in our culture. They don't experience it as an acute fear, like you'd see in pop culture, but more as an anxiety. It's not bad enough to make them actually fearful of men, though it can make them completely neurotic if left unmanaged.

Like any anxious phobia, they can easily fall into patterns where they reinforce their phobia, like an agoraphobe who closes their blinds in the day or an arachnophobe reading about Recluses. For androphobes, that's True Crime. It's not the only one, of course. That little bit of anxiety crack is sprinkled into most pop culture now. True Crime is just ones of the most pure forms of it that doesn't cause (extreme) outrage.

– Assassin47 4 points 3 years ago +4 / -0

That makes sense, especially about it being an irrational neurosis. We can use that to flip the artist's implied "men need to do better" framing on it's head and change it to "Haha yeah women do be crazy like that".

It is a good idea for anyone to be cautious when meeting random strangers. Some men are probably too brave and don't even consider something bad happening to them.
