On the one hand, entitled beggars are insufferable.
On the other hand, would you doubt that whoever was hired to make these MREs used the shittiest ingredients available and then pocketed most of the money allocated to them by whatever government program?
My high school had an ice cream freezer box, french fries & pizza under a heat lamp, and a handful of other really amazing goodies that I LOVED for my first year there. Then Michael Obama's program began and basically all of it disappeared. The slushie machine was the only thing that survived, and it was extremely low quality to begin with.
The bread all changed to something that was definitely not safe for human consumption, but someone clearly got paid along the way in its production and delivery. I let my little dinner roll sit in a cup of water all lunch period, then squeezed the water out of it like a sponge and it regained its original shape afterward.
Has anyone tried to fact check if the “healthy” changes actually were healthier? Everything just became way lower quality and tasted cheaper than anything else. Maybe Big Mike wanted the clout and didn’t want to step on the toes of his husband’s buddies who make sure to take as much money as possible out of public schools
I dunno, I've watched a lot of Steve1989 videos, and the US MREs are usually among the better ones in the world. Especially considering our military actually does stuff (the Western Euros sometimes will have better rations, but their militaries don't really do anything real aside from maybe play for time until they can convince the US to send in troops)
My (ex military) parents have bought me a few, and I would say the ones I've had are probably better than you would get buying an equivalent shelf-stable meal at a grocery store.
My best friend served in the Army and when he came back from deployment he’d snatch some of his favorite MRE meals and we’d all meet up and try them. Honestly most of them slap but at first they can smell and look pretty dodgy. Just don’t look at what you’re eating and it’s perfectly fine
Honestly my preference would just be to have some pork shoulder or brisket that's been cooked in the can in its own juices, or some chili; but it's something of a miracle that they can figure out how to produce a shelf-stable pizza.
I think one of the only times Steve1989 got seriously ill from eating an MRE was from eating an unexpired Chinese MRE. And this is a guy who's eaten Civil War hardtack, WWI and WWII rations, etc...
Unless it's that cheese and vegetable omelette the US discontinued because it was so terrible their soldiers refused it, they're being real fussy given the situation.
My father was in the military and stationed in West Germany for while, back when West German was a thing.
I don't remember exactly what it was but there was a MRE so bad that he and everyone at his post truly believed that some commie infiltrator created it for demoralization.
To this day, if a conversation even touches on something like long term food storage, MREs he will rant about "the long standing commie rot in the federal government" and the war crime that was that MRE.
It's almost certainly the halal one to give to Muslims, primarily for humanitarian handouts.
They were sacred early on in Iraq, a Marine infantry friend has a story during Iraqi Freedom where their supply line got cut off, no food for about a week, but they had a truckload of these MREs. After not eating for about 3 days, the soldiers asked if they could eat the Muslim food, officers said no, that's only to give to locals.
Who knows though, maybe this whiner is right and not eating was better than this MRE.
Maybe it's growing up an army brat but I've always enjoyed MREs. Still there's a weird dichotomy with a situation where you need aid for food and water but you have the time, motivation, and resources for an online food review.
Well White people are oppressed by the Biden's majority jewish cabinet and so i'm going to assume that living next to a country with majority jews would be even more oppressive
I've eaten MREs in the army. They're not great but theyre not horrible in general ( some flavors werent good) but to say you're being tortured by eating them....
And in the West people buy MREs for camping or just for fun. Maybe we're just so used to shit food that we accept it or that goat herder is too picky and entitled. Probably both.
Could also be that MREs are shitty versions of food that Westerners are already familiar with, making it more palatable. A shitty version of a food that you're not familiar with is probably not going to be a great experience.
That said, entitled beggars can starve for all I care.
the guy didn'T mention the main of the mre. he intentionally wants to shit on it.
he's also "too retarded" to know how to use the heater and ignores it. cause then he had to mention the main to be heated.
The main course for the meal. All the things he mentioned were sides - you can confirm this with Steve1989's videos going back for years on taste-testing MREs from various countries. Crackers, peanut butter, energy bar, etc. are just sides/snacks.
Edit: From what you can see at 1:25 in the video, I'm 99% sure that the meal he got was "Veggie Crumbles w/Pasta in Taco Style Sauce" from the 2016 menu (list of MRE menus are available here and at 1:25 you can clearly read crumbles and taco style sauce) Personally, I would not want to be eating that but as you can see in his "review" he mentioned nothing that would correspond to anything like that.
The Gazan guy is lying because he knows the people he's trying to reach don't know anything about MREs and will believe anything as long as an enemy says it.
Well we should definitely stop sending it this instant. If it's not up to the standards of the glorified shanty town that is Gaza, then clearly it's not fit for human consumption.
It's really weird that this guy can read the labels and speak fluent conversational English, but he was supposedly stumped by the very simple instructions on the flameless heater, which even has pictures so the Marines can figure it out.
Not every MRE is made equal. Some flavors are pretty decent. Others are avoided like the plague. There's also two kinds of people where some hate them and others can't get enough. Seriously, some trainees go mental for the things. Also the chemical cooker bag thing is pretty neat. You add water to it and it just gets REAL hot real fast. That was my experience in the Chair Force at least.
It can't be THAT bad, tho I think the old canned C-rations we got in the 1980s Army were as good if not better than the MREs, Unless you got the lima beans. It was hard to get the heat tablets to light, but the canned main courses were usually edible cold, especially the spaghetti. Remember the fruit cake? It wasn't that bad, tho I was usually ravenous and would eat most anything.
Thinking about eating a box of rations in the 90-degree pouring rain somewhere in Bumfuck, Alabama I am struck with both loathing and nostalgia.
On the one hand, entitled beggars are insufferable.
On the other hand, would you doubt that whoever was hired to make these MREs used the shittiest ingredients available and then pocketed most of the money allocated to them by whatever government program?
Remember the Michelle Obama lunch program?
My high school had an ice cream freezer box, french fries & pizza under a heat lamp, and a handful of other really amazing goodies that I LOVED for my first year there. I will never forgive that stupid fucking baboon.
Damn you young son, but yeah Michael's forced tomato-vegetable program ruined it.
Holy shit, that made literal ship biscuits or Hard tack sound like a better option to give you.
Literal civil war and naval rations were probably better!
Skimming from the top is basic government contract meta. Good enough for government work.
Big Mike is still grifting off of that fuck up. I posted a thread about him starting a "nutritious" food company a while back.
Not one relevant indicator regarding childhood obesity and/or diabetes showed any positive result from the program.
The giant "food"-ish conglomerates made a pretty penny, though.

Imagine a chinese MRE...
I think one of the only times Steve1989 got seriously ill from eating an MRE was from eating an unexpired Chinese MRE. And this is a guy who's eaten Civil War hardtack, WWI and WWII rations, etc...
Some of the meat in the entre was green, IIRC...
Yum, stale noodles with fried cockroach!
Unless it's that cheese and vegetable omelette the US discontinued because it was so terrible their soldiers refused it, they're being real fussy given the situation.
We should have shipped them all the remaining Fingers of Death MREs.
I dread to ask what is that...
Also any guys with military experience or just hang out in those circles, what's the worst MRE you've ever experienced?
Hotdog MREs.
I haven't had one since the late 90s/early aughts, but they were all decent other than the vegetarian options back then.
I never got to try the dreaded hotdog one.
My father was in the military and stationed in West Germany for while, back when West German was a thing.

Oh wait, it was the three fingers. It's frankfurters iirc.

Classic
Maybe it's growing up an army brat but I've always enjoyed MREs. Still there's a weird dichotomy with a situation where you need aid for food and water but you have the time, motivation, and resources for an online food review.
Because they're not actually that oppressed, and yet people still fall for it.
Sometimes it is about finding the right flavor.
Because nothing is happening in Gaza. They are bot starving and even have free time to behead jewish babies.
Ah the JIDF is back. Wasn't your reserve unit activated to go fight in Gaza?
Ah, stormfags are back, didn't you take a break from jerking to Japanese cartoons and posting Hitler memes from your mothers basement?
Clearly they're not hungry enough to require food aid.
And in the West people buy MREs for camping or just for fun. Maybe we're just so used to shit food that we accept it or that goat herder is too picky and entitled. Probably both.

Oh that makes sense. For some reason that didn't even cross my mind and I thought he missed (or mistyped) a word.
The Gazan guy is lying because he knows the people he's trying to reach don't know anything about MREs and will believe anything as long as an enemy says it.
I came here to say this. The instructions are mostly in pictures so illiterate fools can understand them, and it still proved to daunting for him.
I eat em. If you want something better in the backcountry, catch it. hook it, shoot it, trap it.
Remember the other illegal alien lady who said that they're being served pig food a few years back?
She later assaulted someone, and had a gun.
I can't remember who said it (I can) but I think it went something like this:
"They're not sending their best"
Unless... 🤔
Well we should definitely stop sending it this instant. If it's not up to the standards of the glorified shanty town that is Gaza, then clearly it's not fit for human consumption.
Just out of curiosity, I'd love to hear the dude who came in here and downvoted every comment explain his thought process.
Some of the comments were literally just discussions of MREs, without any political content or opinion stated.
It's really weird that this guy can read the labels and speak fluent conversational English, but he was supposedly stumped by the very simple instructions on the flameless heater, which even has pictures so the Marines can figure it out.
sounds like a typical MRE. a cheap, compact, utilitarian way to feed someone quickly.
OK. Next drop needs to be 100% prison loaf (AKA nutraloaf) and a jug of water.
why are we even sending anything?
Because the left is trying to buy back the votes of Muslims angry they aren't supporting Hamas hard enough.
Specifically, the goal of all current US policy in Gaza is to make sure Dearborn, Michigan turns out to vote for Biden.
Not every MRE is made equal. Some flavors are pretty decent. Others are avoided like the plague. There's also two kinds of people where some hate them and others can't get enough. Yea Eastern Europe is better with MREs
Hey now, some of the MRE meals are pretty damn good though.
Chicken Alfredo was my favorite
It would probably be better for him if he ate the food aid that Arab countries are dropping in Gaza, nothing.
Egypt tried to send trucks of water and the Gazans destroyed the trucks and killed the driver.
It can't be THAT bad, tho I think the old canned C-rations we got in the 1980s Army were as good if not better than the MREs, Unless you got the lima beans. Looks like the cheapest goyslop ever made
Did it review this from its terrorist tunnel? Better hide rat, your time is almost up.
