They shit talked and name called the fans of the saints row series. Told people to fuck off if they didnt like the changes. They did what bud light did lol. Berate their loyal fanbase for being non woke.
You're coming at this from a rational perspective that considers the impact on the industry at large, and I agree with you in spirit.
But if that 1 game is squarely aimed at subverting an existing series and giving a middle finger to its fans, I absolutely think a studio should be shitcanned for it.

It is one of the things that a channel I watch called Valliant Renegade gets a bug up his ass about all the time. His day job is doing financial work, and one of this biggest pet peeves is the push in the last decade or two that all companies should be focused on growth rather than profit. It is why you have this push for constant investment and credit even though companies are losing money hand over fist.
Meanwhile, many of those investors will turn up their nose at a company that had limited growth but made solid profit.
He sees it as the number one reason that so many of the streaming services have failed to make any profit because they must get that growth, which then also causes the drop in quality (that is further made worse by the beliefs of the Hollywood types).
I've never understood people's willingness to put their healthcare into the hands of their employers. I may pay a hefty chunk out of pocket, but it gives me the freedom to know that I'll never be without medical coverage so long as my bank account isn't empty. Makes it real easy to weather something like a contract getting canceled or an employer being otherwise retarded.
This is why. Its not a lazy choice. Its a "its the only affordable option" choice. Most people wouldn't have any insurance if not for the "give us 7$ per check and your family is covered" monthly options employers offer, compared to the average of 560$ a month for private.
Lefties may be retards with bad solutions, but they aren't wrong that healthcare in America is absurdly expensive and well beyond the ability of most families to pay without employer coverage at 99% cheaper than personal coverage.

I really doubt a lot of the studios that exist currently are the same as even 5 years ago and many are just skinsuits.
Pretty sure the studio more or less shut down years ago when THQ went under. They sort of flopped around for about a year, finishing up and releasing Saints Row 4 and doing Gat Out of Hell, but that was basically the end point.
Probably as some companies go broke and then take the woke money which is drying up now after over a decade of cheap credit.
Now I wish we could have a proper Paradise City sequel.
I think this began with Agents of Mayhem. It was a fun idea on paper, but the execution wasn't all that great. It never really found an audience. Then with the SR reboot, they made a game that not only didn't have an audience, but outright didn't want the old audience either. If they weren't so openly hostile about it, I wouldn't have cared and would have moved on without a word.
But they wanted this, so enjoy it. You earned it.
AFAIK, no one from the original saints row trilogy was even there anymore.
I guess the SR2 update they told IdolNinja they'd work on is officially done too. Not that I expected anything from it, honestly, given their track record of fuck people who kept us afloat all these years.

Yeah the game was extremely woke. You had female Muslim superheroes, a black lesbian soldier in an interracial relationship with one of the other agents who just won't shut up about it throughout the game, and every other diverse checkpoint you could think of.
The livestreams and developer updates were all about how "diverse" the game was and how "diverse" their voice acting casts was, and it was all about "diversity" this and "diversity" that and creating characters for a "diverse" audience, which is why it was such a soulless, bland, EGS-approved shooter.
They should have been shutdown then, but it's good they're finally shutting down after that horrible Saints Row reboot.

Nobody who had any touch of the magic that went into those games remained at volition, I'm certain. That was 24 years ago and all they've made since is family guy humor does GTA.

With all the stuff you can do with a game engine these days, why choose this? It's like the studios haven't figured out their size isn't worth it anymore, so they insist on doing a really bad game as their last one. A spit at us as they drown.

Prototype was a better "superhero action game in an open world," as was Infamous (and Infamous 2 has the best bromance in any game ever made) unless you were only in it for the wacky shenanigans.
Which if that's your desire, I guess yeah that's basically the only choice.
