While the world burns... Here's an anime iceberg I made a while back.

I rather normies dont know about the good shit.
Look what they did to Cowboy Bebop.
Keep it secret. Keep it safe!
Ghibli must have put some clause in their contract that prevents (D)isney from defiling their works.
Don’t give them any ideas, they will just make a gay black spirited away remake full of tranny spirits
Princess Ma'am no Woké
I dislike most anime.
The ones I do like are all full length films.
I should watch Vampire Hunter D again. It's been so long.
I have a DVD that I was only able to find at Suncoast Pictures (a retail movie store that's usually in malls). It used to be the only real source for anime prior to Blockbuster and, eventually, Amazon.
What? you don’t want a my neighbor Totoro where the spirits are all drag queens? What about a Ponyo where instead of being a girl Ponyo dreams of being a boy and gender bends? The possibilities are endless!
Where is Legend of the Galactic Heroes?
Good one! Definitely ought to be filed under "Faded Memories". The lack of an english release for the original limits it from the "Good Stuff" category since people are more likely to learn about it through a message board than from a friend.
I think it would better fit under Gatekeeper's Realm.
I have only met hardcore anime fans who have seen the show.
Or Monster!
Excellent anime.
Johan Liebert is one of the best antagonists in anime.
Deserves a rewatch but my god when will any of us find the time.
Monster is excellent but yeah it is very long.
I am glad that I watched all of the masterpiece animes years ago when I had much more time.
Meanwhile ones that watch one from the top put weeb in their profile (always women). I get a weird sense of satisfaction when I'm on discord voice and I "innocently" press them on it and it turns out they actually don't know any anime. I know it's incredibly petty but I can't help it, it's just so funny.
The dumbest thing about index is simply the fact they refuse to make more seasons. Meanwhile pretty boy swimmers and basketball players get a shitton of them. It's not fair
Also still annoyed at hidan no aria only getting the stupid Yuri sidestory animated instead of another season. It has 38 volumes and the last one came out Christmas last year... So it must have been plenty profitable to go on for so many years.
"Oh, you like anime? What shows?"
"Avatar and Teen Titans!"
I remember the theory back when they made season 3 was that they were just rushing through it to get to the really good stuff. Either that was never true, or season 3 flopped so damn badly it dissuaded them from continuing. I've always heard really good things about the source material after season 3.
There's nothing I would love more than another season of that so I could feel like it's a decade ago again with Rie Kugimiya voicing a tsundere lead.
Hidan no Aria was the one main show of that variety that I didn't watch way back when but I picked up the novels last year when I was shocked to see it was still going strong. Often times the amazon reviews of the latest novels for series that go that long are littered with "ugh this is dragging on" and "just end it already" but the ones for Aria are still quite positive. So I'm very curious how they kept it going that long. I'll go through them sometime in the future when I finally have a lot of time on my hands....I did open to a random part of like volume 19 or something and read some pretty hype excerpts though.
That being said I feel like Aria has next to no popularity in the west so I was surprised to see you bring it up.
I stopped watching Index because of Crunchyroll. Choosing to use "sissy" as a translation for "onee-sama" was among the MANY things that made the series completely unbearable to watch.
There IS a "fixed" pirate version that just keeps it as onee-sama (and fixes a few other of Crunchyroll's "genius" lol-cow-lization choices), but at that point, you're going through a lot of extra effort.
Downloading fansubs from nyaa really doesn't take much extra effort in my opinion. But yeah sissy is absolutely unforgivable.
Do you know Magika no Kenshi to Shoukan Maou? That's the one I will forever be surprised it never got an anime. Great actual harem story from start to finish. I've seen way worse works get animated.
I dont think I've ever heard of it but I'll definitely look it up when I get home, thanks.
Really pointless without titles.
Yes, without titties some anime would have no plot.
I'm frustrated because I'm legitimately curious about some in the lower two levels.
Starting from the left like some western normie:
Code Geass. (dot)hack. Evangelion. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya [needs proper watch order!]. (Text break). Clannad. K-on. SOUL EATER. A Certain Scientific Railgun [A Certain Magical Index is the first entry in this series, look up a timeline, so don't know why they went with the sequel].
Bottom row:
Sorry, these are apparently gatekept from the normies. Since I disagree with Highschool Of The Dead being in this tier, I'll mention that one, but according to the infographic I'm not allowed to give these away.
Some of the "fading memory" ones have had seasons more recent than the "The new hotness", so I'm not sure of OP's chronological sense. Has Stein's Gate imparted upon them some unknowable future?

The Berserk anime is overrated low-budget trash, though. Why are we kidding ourselves? Perhaps the manga was good, but the anime?
And who is the first from the left, top row? And the second from the right, top row? Is that Macross?
And where is Trigun? Or Akira. Or Ghost In The Shell. Or Battle Angel Alita. Or Ninja Scroll? Or Dominion Tank Police? Or one of the most famous mecha franchises out there: Gundam? Patlabor? Guyver? Nausicaa? Mononoke? Lupin?
Original anime where they still tried to use adults as leading characters, instead of adolescents.
This iceberg was made BY a normie.
The 1997 Berserk anime is one of the best anime of all time. You don't know what you're talking about.
There is a new 2022 higher budget anime being released right now anyway.
Robotech in America.
The 97 Berserk was sick. Everything that came after is shameful.
Idolm@ster was invented after 1997...
I mean the Berserk remakes.
Fun fact: The late Carl Macek openly regretted the changes he had to make to get that to air, according to Greg Ayres, voice actor and Macross fan.
Harmony Gold required heavy censorship to get into time slots for children's cartoons.
Sadly, yes, fuck Harmony Gold.
Doubly so because they were largely responsible for gimping MechWarrior early on, and trying to get rid of entire mech classes because "They look too much like our mechs! COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT!"
Wow, seriously? So it wasn't just FASA who sucked.
For years, FASA would sue anyone who used the word "mech." Until the trademark expired.
Essentially, they were claiming a lot of the "sleeker" mechs (like the Phoenix Hawk) were infringement on Robotech. Here is a list of the affected mechs and the various lawsuits (FASA being one of the parties too).
Light from Death Note. Recognize the artstyle.
Yep Macross. I would never call Macross normie tier, maybe Gundam but not Macross.
Old normies would know that as Robotech. Aired on normie stations AND the Scifi channel back in the late 80s, early 90s
The US version of Macross took 3 different Macross stories and wove them together into a seamless Robotech saga.
plucking of gray hairs intensifies
Ninja Scroll, Elfenlied, Rurouni Kenshin, Record of Lodoss War, Claymore.
OP is basically "anime in the last 15 years" and ignored most things before that. Which is fine, but hey...
Yeah, wanted to keep the image small.
A surprisingly large number of characters in your pyramid look exactly the same. The golden age of anime is long past. Instead you're focusing on industrial output with prefab elements that are only mildly rearranged in each iteration to hoodwink a receptive non-critical audience.
We talking the original anime or the more recent one with shitty CGI?
I wouldn't call Kino that obscure, an anime came out for her in 2017. I'd put in One Piece at normie tier, it's big but also decent. Spy X Family would go in new hotness, I read the manga before that became big and it was on an upward trajectory because of just how good it was. EVA still has an audience 20 years later, the last movie only came out in 2021, where Shinji ended up with Makoto. Putting .hack and Code Pants there, along with early 2000s anime is a good call. Bakemonotagari and Strike Witches are still big tho. Lain and Cromartie would be good for gatekeep, any of the overly long talking and boring ones.
Kino and others in the Gatekeep category aren't so much about being obscure as they are about never having any possibility of being normie tier. Gatekeep is either talky, fanservice (or both in the case of Bakemonogatari), or focused on some aspect of otaku culture (AKB0048 or Genshiken).
Even though I made this a while back, I haven't seen Spy X Family yet. Guess I'll check it out.
I forgot about the Eva rebuilds. Third one lost me with the time skip and I didn't even realize the fourth one was made.
A little too hard to remember the face of protagonists in every anime. I've probably tried watching all of these, but a third of them I just don't recognize because it's easier to remember shows by what was special about them rather than the minutia of the protagonist's wardrobe and hair.
But the point of these things seems to not be informative anyway.
NGL, whenever the main was a dark haired male in a dark school uniform I wondered if people would recognize him.
Is that why you thought you could get away with putting SAO in "good stuff" instead of "normie shit"?
You may be right about that! Especially with "Progressive" retconning Aincrad to appeal to the
wokiesbrainwashed.Fairy Tail should be part of Normie tier.
And Strike Witches is way too popular, with multiple spin-offs, to be in Gatekeeper's Realm. If you want something similar I'd replace it with KanColle
Trigun Not Detected: Opinion Rejected.
Left to right:
Normie Shit
Good Stuff
The New Hotness
Fading Memory
Gatekeeper's Realm
Scans list
Disappointed to not see Steins Gate anywhere...
I'd probably put it at Gatekeep. Too complicated for normies.
Should have included "Rosen Garten Saga" in "The New Hotness". Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari's light novel ended like 8 years ago, so that's already pretty aged, isn't it?
Girls und Panzer should be taken out of that category too. I love the show, it's fantastic stupid fun, but it's hardly new. The first season came out a decade ago.
Golden Kamuy should definitely be in there.
Sir, this is an anime iceberg.
Oh sweet, I've seen all of Monogatari, which is fourth from the left on the bottom!
Need to read the books, though.
Bottom right, second from the left. Is that motherfucking Busou Renkin?
Man, I don't know if that could be gatekeeper's realm; it was pretty standard shounen stuff. I'd put that more into fading memory.
Ah, fuck, I looked at the "similar anime", and now I fucking feel old. I'm gonna go drag out my rocking chair and shotgun, go shout at some kids to get off my lawn or something.
High School of the Dead
https://myanimelist.net/anime/8074/Highschool_of_the_Dead?q=High%20School%20of%20the%20Dead&cat=anime
Almost all of this is "normie" shit
I watched a lot of anime ... 20 years ago. I only recognize a couple. Fill in the blanks?
What about Trigun? Rurouni Kenshin? Azumanga Daioh? :-P
https://communities.win/c/KotakuInAction2/p/16aAIYAOFV/while-the-world-burns-heres-an-a/c/4TrGoae58ui
Probably fits under "Fading Memory"
Where does Castlevania fit on the chart?
Not anime. Animated doesn't make it anime even if it tries to look like it. High Guardian Spice isn't anime either even though crunchyroll funded that trainwreck.
Probably leans towards "Normie Shit" because of Netflix and name recognition from the games. I assume it has a dub. Can't break into the normie tier without it.AnotherSchwarzesMark is correct: Castlevania is not an anime!
I feel like a failure as a weeb for not recognizing any of the bottom row despite having been in the game since downloading episodes of Trigun back on fucking dial up.
Also Evangelion is shit and no one can convince me otherwise.
Honestly, I dont really care where the stuff I want to watch falls on any list. I will watch what I want to watch, and no one can stop me.
To that end, I recently finished up with SpyxFamily, and am about halfway through Eight-Six: 86. Finally getting around to Chainsaw Man is probably next on the list, and then either between My Dress-up Darling (started watching, didnt finish), Fire Force, or Beast Tamer.
People no longer talk about Code Geass? I still bring it up when people wanna see something with mechs but not gundam(which imho you should watch, gundam's awesome!).
Not as often as they used to. Are people still arguing about who was driving the cart at the end?
There's a continuation and IIRC there's an alternate scene that shows who it is clearly. I have not seen the continuation, I probably should rewatch it alongside the continuation movie.
Why is Sunabozu not in Gatekeepers realm
Why is GITS not on here at all
Why is dogshit Re:Zero even in the same row as glorious Kazutrash
Why is Fairy Tail listed as good stuff when it is C tier shounen
Why is a filthy casual making this chart
>No Redo of Healer
>No Ishuzoku Reviewers
>HotD being "gatekeeper realm" instead of "fading memory".
>Iceberg not having a School Days "Nice Boat" meme photoshopped in.
Normie get out REEEEEEE.
Don't put Redo and Ishuzoku on the same boat: Redo has an actual plot, Based on a story-rich light novel series, While Ishuzoku is just broadcast-legal hentai.
On Good Stuff, next to Sword Art Online.
>NGE as fading memory
/a/sshole on 4chan constantly have daily fights over which underaged girl they'd rather plow.
When Shinji masturbated over Asuka, he spoke for all of us.
I'd probably put it on "Good".
LOL

Go be a faggot somewhere else.
You seem to be lost. You don't belong here.
Says the guy whose panties got in such a knot he had to say meany mean words to the OP.
That attitude will make you ugly, and ConPro hates ugly.
