“3 times more nutritious”? scientists say that? 3 times more of what? Calories? Vitamins? It can’t be 3 times more of everything 😄

I found the paper, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6123606/, and it's based on calorie per gram which has to be the dumbest of all possible metrics. By that metric table sugar is 12 times as nutritious as broccoli.

So bug milk is 3x more calorie dense than regular milk. What an idiotic thing to praise. People want less calorie density in their food, not more. This is directly lying to people.

They did mention that it may be more useful for populations that are underfed, but peanut butter already fills that niche pretty well (and by their own dumb metric is 4 times more nutritious than cockroach milk). Really I think they just wanted to do some science on roaches and needed a bullshit application because you can't get a grant these days without something about climate change in the proposal.

Don't give the fuckers any more ideas, please.

Then again, they already said sugary cereal is better for you than eggs or meat, so I suppose we're already there.

Pick two options, declare one desirable.

Pick some metric (or maybe a group of metrics), declare them desirable.

Find one (or more) of those metrics that is higher in the desirable option. Ignore all other metrics. Declare desirable option to be superior.

Stand back and watch while journalists who never even passed basic algebra spread headlines and articles declaring your desired option to be superior.

Reminds me of a paper that Chris Martinson went over where, according to one metric (some protein in the blood or something), Hydroxychloraquine did nothing. According to other metrics that weren't mentioned in the study's abstract for some mysterious reason (these being number of days in the hospital and continuing to stay alive), hydroxychloraquine showed a positive effect.

They don't make mammalian 'milk' but they produce an internal fluid to feed their egg-sac's brood.

The article is fucking retarded though because not only would it probably taste like shit, there is no way you can 'milk' the cockroaches in the first place.

Once again: you might not think of them as much of an animal but they probably do feel on some very low level. This is kinda fucked up and they complain about cow milk. At least the cow isn't slaughtered to harvest the milk.

What is it with them and bugs? It's getting to the point of fetishism.

We have a lot of food, the problem is logistics, there aren't fantastic transportation infrastructure in not just the third world but a lot of the west's has been neglected for years. Improve importing goods and watch starvation rates decrease

It's getting to the point of fetishism.

It is. You've seen the glee they have at the idea of humiliating their ideological opponents - that's where the "you dead, your kids gay" thing comes from.

Their fantasy world appears to be some kind off dystopia where "for the good of the planet" you're forced onto cockroach puree for long enough to break your spirit before you're disposed of permanently.

The bug population is actually decreasing in certain areas which could fuck over everything. If you still have the logistics problem people will still starve to death, bugs or no bugs.

As for global warming, we are past the point of this kind of tactic, our best bet is technology and innovation like having automated, efficient ways of recycling to reclaim areas used as landfill or just heavily polluted. No point 'giving up meat ' if we aren't going to reclaim and cultivate areas affected by pollution (waste or even radiation) or climate change.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– The_Shadow_of_Intent 3 points 3 years ago +3 / -0

Great points, and also if anthropogenic global warming was really an imminent threat then two things would happen right away:

  1. we would actually have a hard number for the number of tons of CO2 we would need to eliminate in order to prevent the sea from rising or whatever

  2. we would develop carbon-trapping machines and carbon-recycling plants

Fairly straightforward ways to solve the problem, except it doesn't actually exist and the real problem is how to invent an unaccountable bogeyman that can appear and disappear as needed to control the population. They were much more successful with covid.

Yeah they keep trying, they tried with monkeypox early on but once we quickly found out only those not just into butt sex but also into swallowing gallons of piss at an orgy were the ones affected, fear died out real quick in 99% of the world.

They think they can rule by authority alone but if you really push a lot of them buckle and fall. It's just a matter of knowing where to push without them causing significant damage on the way out.

There is a certain utility in accepting the inevitability of death. It is... liberating, for some, to truly understand they will one day die.

If I believed that I could make the right choices and live forever, I could not have enlisted as a younger man, and I'd be less capable and less experienced today as a result. It took a brush with death for me to understand my time would come whether I was ready or not, and it's shaped who I have become.

Reposting what I said in another thread about moving to rural locations:

I'm just going to remind everyone who thinks of moving to somewhere rural; The elites live in the cities.

What you think happens when the supply chain fails: The cities descend into chaos and the people in buttfuck nowhere weather the storm while guarding their property from the chimps spilling out of the urban centers.

What actually happens when the supply chain fails: The military rolls up to the farm and tells the farmer their goods are being taken as a matter of national security. They ship all their food to the city, and leave the rural folk to starve to death. This will happen before people even realize the shortage is coming, unlike a mere price hike, the shortage will not be televised. It will be privileged information.

Of course, this is assuming the supply chain fails.

The reality is that nobody knows how shit's going to go down until it actually happens. The collapse is probably not going to look the way any of us expect it to. We all imagine some big event that people are going to be able to mark on a calendar, but such a watershed moment may honestly never come to pass. Instead, you might just see a slow, rotting decline until the United States looks like a giant, spread out version of eastern Europe where everything sucks and everyone is poor, nobody trusts anyone, and there's just a pervasive, perpetual, low-level misery. Nobody starves, but nobody has anything to smile about either.
