WHO IS YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE???
I LOL'ed. So true.
And just wait until your “mom” is getting gratuitously slammed from behind by dindu NPC’s and eaten out by fat, androgynous bulldykes with purple hair (because you just know they’re gonna fill the game with “empowering” deviancy too).
If Geralt could fuck and whore his way around the northern kingdoms, so can Cougar Ciri. Checkmate Chuds 😏
There was someone in the YouTube comments who unironically said this.
The youth generation is doomed.
Didnt Geralt pay the price of being a whore if he wasn't loyal to one of his broads though? Try to play the whores and you get jumped and left to die lonely lol.
Yes, if you try and get both Yenn and Triss they lure you to bed with the suggestion of a threesome then tie you to the bedposts and leave.
But they didn't 'just age her up', they say she's a full witcher now which given her powers and the process of becoming a witcher, isn't needed UNLESS you're going to pull a 'it's her turn now' bs.
Which also means, that isn't Ciri, it's not going to be written as HER STORY and she won't act like Ciri, just a bad Ciri cosplay for another annoying 'girlboss' character.
Which...how did she become a witcher? And why? She had better powers already.
Also it conflicts with some endings of witcher 3.
Lastly, the manjaw...
One of the 'gaming media' is putting out there that she did the trial of the grasses, you know, the one that literally rips you apart from the inside to mutate you into a witcher.
This probably means the ending of her gaining a silver sword from Geralt to be a 'witcher' is cannon but in that she hunted a monster BEFORE they met in the inn so safe to assume she had her powers still after taking on the White frost. So why go through a trial that has a high chance of killing people?
If they just have a game set after W3 as Ciri, then she would be op as fuck and with the wild hunt dealt with, be a lot more light hearted. But we are getting too many red flags already to think they can actually portray Ciri anymore.
Well, yeah, but like...why. That's the only way to do it, unless they made some other shit up to justify it. Also, she had more power than a witcher. Why go backwards?
Also, I'm pretty sure the trials kill all women, and only men are witchers, unless I missed something. I didn't get super into the witcher stuff, so I'm not an expert on every bit of lore involved.
Knowing them they'll either go with:
she's trans all along! So stunning a brave! (but doesn't fit their real life denial of biology narrative)
the only men can survive the trial is just a lie told by the patriarchy.
According to the wiki, there's a special girl version. It kills 9 in 10 girls who take it, as opposed to the 7 in 10 of boys of the regular version. So basically it's a retcon that explains how Ciri did it and it's totally always existed and you just haven't heard about it.
The Trial of Long Grasses is administered in youth because the body is more receptive to change. I believe the insinuation is its basically an illusion to puberty and how the body changes then.
It doesn't make sense for Ciri to do it regardless of her powers because she can't live through it as an adult.
And if they say "oh well she lived because of her powers" then why would she need to do it at all if she still has them? Her Elder Blood powers are away and beyond any being left on their plane of existence. She doesn't need some comparatively hack job, bootleg attempt to become stronger.
In my mind, it's akin to a Primarch from WH40k, chopping his limbs off and jumping in a Dreadnought armor to "enhance" himself.
It just happens, you know? Like Rey in Star Wars, Captain Marvel and Mulan from the reboot. She was just born with godlike powers with no need to train before using them and no need for any mentors to support her. The only character arc needed is her letting go of the patriarchy and anyone telling her she can't use her powers.
It's such an empowering story! /s
This trope of “already-powerful female protagonist” is actually a warped reflection of a very true biological reality. Women have innate value to society thanks entirely to their ability to create life. They are born with this potential value, and they achieve it simply by being alive.
The misapplication of this biological reality is the problem today. Right now, in media and in real life, women are being portrayed as having “innate value” in arenas other than procreation - which they simply don’t have. In combat and business and government and the arts, you need to prove skill and competence and talent, none of which are innate to the female sex.
In fact, owing to their automatic value as wombs, women are evolved to be less capable than men in most arenas. So the idea that they are amazing at everything simply by din of existence is a total inversion of our observable reality. Women are literally worse than men at almost everything. Because men have no innate value and must quickly learn to demonstrate and prove themselves to others and society at large.
TLDR: the hero’s journey doesn’t really work for female characters because the struggle isn’t believable - and that’s if the author even bothers with depicting a struggle. It doesn’t mirror what we see from women around us. We’re too used to seeing them flee the frontlines of war.
Yep. The only flaw female characters are allowed to have is Lack of Validation. Everyone needs to openly agree that she's awesome and perfect or she can't girlboss enough to win. Thats why in Witcher 3 failing to validate Ciri enough causes her to die at the end.
It reflects the IRL female desire to be loved universally and never judged or criticized. It's narcissism as game design.
The world is turning to shit, do you tell your adoptive daughter that
A: It's going to be ok
Or do you
B: Throw a snowball at her
🙄
Some of the decisions in 3 were really stupidly written, similar to "push Dijkstra out the way" which results in your breaking his other leg and ending the assassination questline early.
Everything woke turns to shit.
Because progs are at odds with feminity, without outlets to express said power, all they have left is to usurp traditionally male roles
Not video games, but...
In Evangelion, Misato Katsuragi is 29.
She still looks hot.
In fiction, ugliness is a choice.
MattDamonAging.gif
It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling dooown.
There's no real reason a 29 year old should look any worse than a 23 year old. Misato is fond of the beer which is a contributor to aging, but some people have the genetics to shrug that off.
This proves she hasn't read the books because Ciri already did that. GG, tourist.
Most "fans" of the Witcher games haven't even played the first two games in the series. Until Witcher 3 they were pretty niche slav jank titles no one really talked a whole lot about.
The controls were pretty fucking clunky too from what I recall. Maybe better in 2, but the original definitely stood out as handling poorly compared to most other games in the genre.
I was certainly filtered by 2 back in the day (long before 3 existed) and its very clunky tutorial trying to explain you the controls. I can only imagine how bad 1 was if that was the improvement.
But that's part of it being slav jank. Basically every game made there in that time frame was known for being hell to play in some way (Witcher controls, Stalker bugs) by worth it for the wierd world it gave you.
Witcher 2 wasn't an improvement. Witcher 1 has an entirely different combat system. Which, to be fair, is pretty weird and takes some time getting used to but it actually works quite well. Has been a while since I've lasted played Witcher 1 but if I remember correctly it had the least frustrating combat system of all 3 titles.
Good to know. I've only played like 1-2 hours of 2 and 3 and hated my time with both, so I'm not well versed in them in any way.
But I was at least aware of their existence before 3 came out and suddenly everyone I know was a Witcher fan.
I think I've played through W3 twice but I do think it's very much overrated. It's nowhere near as good as people make it out to be. The combat system is probably the worst thing about it. It's one of those where playing on the highest difficulty is akin to banging your head against the wall. From a gameplay perspective the animations are absolutely horrible. Especially in fist fights.
I'll agree on that. The actual gameplay portion was horrific to me and I just could not get around it, even if the writing between those sections was quite good.
And considering most people only talk about the story, and the card game, I think its very much a case of people just mindlessly completing it as filler content to get to more dialogue.
I'm sure some people enjoy it plenty, but I can't imagine I'm in the small minority that find it terrible.
I always see people claim the controls were janky in witcher 1, but I would say it was the mechanics and the way abilities worked that was the problem. Like dodging and rolling were basically useless. A lot of abilities and talent trees were buggy and unbalanced. I remember there was a gold talent in the Intelligence tree that claimed to reduce the stamina cost of signs by 20%, but it actually didn't do anything at all. I ended up reloading to an earlier save when I found that out. There were probably at least a dozen different talents that didn't really do what their description claimed, and Igni was of course ridiculously overpowered. There really wasn't any reason to use any other skills except Igni because I could just one-shot everything with a 360 degree aoe blast on the hardest difficulty.
The controls being janky and clunky are frankly overexaggerated. They were just unusual compared to other games at the time, particularly for the first Witcher as they improved it in the second, and refined it further in the third.
It's just something that stood out enough to stick with since it's been several years since I actually played the first game.
/shrug
You had 3 Witcher games with Geralt to enjoy that and Ciri already gained some exprience in the 3rd game.
Also, why would Geralt put Ciri through the trial that is more likely to kill her than not? He dosen't want to kill her. She already has more power than him. This makes no sense.
We know why. Girboss skinsuit Ciri had to be the REAL Witcher now. She just had to. Ciri Sue has to be better than men at everything, not just at her thing. So The Witcher she must be.
Taking over the witcher job is like some girl quitting Google to be a bail bondsman lol. It's only prestigious to the audience.
She literally gains no proper benefit from even being a Witcher either.
Wow she can drink witcher potions oOoOOoo.
She is a fucking witch, with full access to the entire spectrum of magic and even spells other spellcasters might not be able to do due to her elder blood. Combine this with being trained in how to properly swordfight and you have the makings of a unique and interesting character. But no, let's just throw that all away and make her a fucking discount Gerald. Its just tiresome.
She doesn't have that after burning herself out trying to draw on fire. Not that it matters because the other thing you mention is still accurate.
She can teleport and timetravel, she doesn't need magic anyway!
I thought she still had access to it but in a reduced manner.
Was that canon in the game as well? It's been so long since I completed the game. I get back on every now and then to fart around but I haven't finished in years.
This just further reaffirms my qualms about the substance of this story.
If she doesn't have godlike power anymore, there's no way she survives the Trials. You can't take the Trial as an adult. Your body needs to be young and receptive to change.
.... Now if she does still have powers, what's the bloody point?? As stated above, her peak form is miles beyond some raggedy Witcher. She's taking steps backwards.
Given that Bioware is currently melting down in real time after their last couple releases, I'd say calling the shots is exaggerating lol.
I don't think it's a stretch to say that people like this calling the shots is why Bioware has been steadily in decline for at least a decade.
Well that's the reason why fast onset, fast lethality viruses don't thrive. They kill the host before they can spread.
But the host is still dead regardless. It's just a matter of how long it takes for people to learn to avoid catching it. And just a matter of time before they start burning corpses.
At this point, I’m just rejecting the premise that female protagonists are inherently good. If leftists were allowed to be sick of the constant stream of masculine space marine dudebro protagonists of 15 years ago, then I’m allowed to be sick of the constant stream of masculine frumpy sassy girlboss protagonists of the last 5+ years.
If consumers are permitted to have preferences based upon identities, then that sword cuts both ways. So I’m going to express open annoyance and disappointment with any game that forces me to play as a feminist self-insert, same as all of the feminists behaved when gaming was catering to me instead of them.
Of course, I was a paying customer buying tens of games a year. How are the feminist games doing? Oh, they have to infiltrate and subvert already-successful franchises and studios in order to “flourish”? And then then, feminism can end up tanking once-invincible IPs like marvel and Star Wars? Neat.
Not that you're wrong, but this post is from 2018 lol. As Norm Macdonald said, "The more I read about Hitler, I'm starting to think he was a real jerk!"
Here’s one of her replies:
Again, it’s nothing about enjoying the lore or story, it’s about their feelings and women must be the most important thing ever and girl-bosses galore or this middle aged cunt will throw a tantrum. That’s how truly pathetic gaming has become.
Hard fucking doubt given the other stupid things she's already said that run counter to various material.
I remember a comment back on the original KiA (10 years ago? where does the time go...) that still rings true.
Cool, now let's do the opposite for those rom coms women like.
"I'm so glad the writer dared to make (hot male character) into a loser virgin.
I enjoy reading about characters with less life experience, not just chads who have it all."
Except they do not call the shots, we, the gamers do. Good luck getting your game sold if it is woke garbo like that new Naughty Dog game.
So, will the game have osteoporosis and hot flash mechanics?
The trailer with her rescuing the girl is a red herring, the primary game mechanic will be throwing any younger, hotter women to the monsters as quickly as possible before your sanity bar depletes
I don't care about the looks. And older Ciri, whatever. That's fine. What's damning and should be offensive is the desecration of the lore. It completely disregards everything that Gearlt and the other Witchers had to go through. Just so they can have "female power".
She'll be looking for work soon after they lay her off. More woke garbage that nobody is interested in buying.
What a time to be alive, amirite fellow haggmaxxers?
Nah, that isn't a milf. That's the crazy, cat lady, wine aunt everyone tries to ignore at family gatherings.
More like the homeless schizo screaming at nothing on the street corner.
Witcher was popular because geralt was a badass and a banged lots of hot women and whores...
Now they change it to... ciri. Unless she bangs hot women, which i doubt, its a pass.
DRM free day one so you won't have to give them money either way.
But is it even worth giving them your time?
Fans were begging for a Witcher of the School of the Cat, a contrast with the image of Geralt who was super serious all the time.
If they had to make up a story then going with Ciri while acting exactly like Geralt was the worst choice.
I would’ve loved a prequel series, maybe showing the witchers at their peak (by the time of W3 their castles are crumbled and their numbers are dwindling). Could’ve even starred a young Vesemir or a whole new character even.
But then again, these retards would probably just give us “Kaer Morhan high school”.
I read somewhere that Sapkowski originally didn’t want them using his material for video games because he felt they wouldn’t take it seriously and would fuck his IP up. Hmmm 🤔
Sapkowski is a horrible writer, especially the fighting scenes is just "he slashes with the sword, then hit with the sword again...". He is famous mostly because of the videogame.
Sure there was enough material to come up with a better plot than just "Ciri acts like Geralt" but just like Star Wars they hire people that never watched the movies but think they can do better just by copy-paste, put a chick in it and make her gay.
EA's ceo (who owns bioware) is jewish, by the way
Explains a lot.
Given time, Based Mods will have reskin.
It's not aging up. That's simply a different person.
Yeah because when i was 12 years old i sure felt like shit when i only played as 30-40 year old men with chiseled faces and the physiques of greek gods and voices like they're choking on gravel
Take your two cents and use it to buy more cat food you dried out husk...
I’d rather play a customizable character but OK.
I mean Stellar Blade was badass, but this, we’ll see
