This trope of “already-powerful female protagonist” is actually a warped reflection of a very true biological reality. Women have innate value to society thanks entirely to their ability to create life. They are born with this potential value, and they achieve it simply by being alive.
The misapplication of this biological reality is the problem today. Right now, in media and in real life, women are being portrayed as having “innate value” in arenas other than procreation - which they simply don’t have. In combat and business and government and the arts, you need to prove skill and competence and talent, none of which are innate to the female sex.
In fact, owing to their automatic value as wombs, women are evolved to be less capable than men in most arenas. So the idea that they are amazing at everything simply by din of existence is a total inversion of our observable reality. Women are literally worse than men at almost everything. Because men have no innate value and must quickly learn to demonstrate and prove themselves to others and society at large.
TLDR: the hero’s journey doesn’t really work for female characters because the struggle isn’t believable - and that’s if the author even bothers with depicting a struggle. It doesn’t mirror what we see from women around us. We’re too used to seeing them flee the frontlines of war.
Yep. The only flaw female characters are allowed to have is Lack of Validation. Everyone needs to openly agree that she's awesome and perfect or she can't girlboss enough to win. Thats why in Witcher 3 failing to validate Ciri enough causes her to die at the end.
It reflects the IRL female desire to be loved universally and never judged or criticized. It's narcissism as game design.
The world is turning to shit, do you tell your adoptive daughter that
A: It's going to be ok
Or do you
B: Throw a snowball at her
🙄
Some of the decisions in 3 were really stupidly written, similar to "push Dijkstra out the way" which results in your breaking his other leg and ending the assassination questline early.
Everything woke turns to shit.
Because progs are at odds with feminity, without outlets to express said power, all they have left is to usurp traditionally male roles
