Boys are so much harder to screw up unless they get groomed at an early age, abused, molested, suffer some kind of trauma, etc., because they're hard-line hardwired once they hit puberty (I'm not going to into a lengthy discussion on the neurology of why that is) and this is why the Left is pushing so hard to put prepubescent boys on hormone pills, but girls are susceptible all throughout their life due to emotional influence.
I hate to use the Left's terminology here, but girls really are sexually fluid based on circumstances, especially when it comes to social pressures. It's why so many girls between puberty and post-college years claim they're "bisexual" or "lesbians".
With awful media influences, stuff like Tik-Tok now convincing girls that heterosexuality is "compulsory" and a "social construct" (which makes zero sense when you consider that humans have been mating and procreating before there were even societies).
It sounds like the couple has unfortunately been brainwashed beyond the pale, and don't want to come across as "bigots" because they're afraid of labels. At least they're right that pressuring her one way or another would be bad, but they also really, REALLY need to be vigilant in monitoring who their daughter hangs out with, what she's watching on the internet, and what the teachers are teaching in the school (assuming they even care).

A friend of mine lives with a lesbian, she only dated one incredibly abusive butch girl for a long time - up to mid-late 20s.
