Off topic, but I've always said felons should get their rights back...but what goes with that is not letting people out until they can actually function in society. But yeah, in theory, if you do the time, and are deemed ready to go back into society, you should get your rights back. Sadly, that doesn't make sense when you have a revolving door of killers and psychopaths, and aren't keeping the worst of the worst locked up.

Why I said I think I'm getting more racist is, although it was the context that did it, I felt deep revulsion when I saw a picture of a bunch of black people rallying around Karmelo Anthony.

Footage is wild. Cop just lets him walk off when the taser fails. Then he comes back to fight him, and they start punching each other.
Then he steals the cop car.
Now I will grant you, I questioned whether it was mental illness or just a altered mental state from the accident he had before the cop showed up, and didn't at first think he needed shooting. But any other race would have been ventilated long before the cop got in a fist fight.
This is another one of those cases where it's essentially the opposite of what the agitators claim; the cop showed arguably way too much restraint. It's admirable, as I don't want cops flying off the handle and killing people on a hair trigger, but it can also be borderline suicidal, if the cop loses the fight he lets take place. It can also lead to the death of others, as it could have here, since this psycho managed to steal the car. I don't want dead civilians, and I don't want dead cops.
The cop showed way too much restraint, and it's a freaking miracle it didn't end worse than it is. Cop lost the fight, and could have been killed. The Tender Homie™ steals the car, and could have killed people. Cop needed to put him down prior to losing the fight. Again, I admire the restraint, but it was too much in this case, and could have been a disaster.
This...Tender Homie™ was given every chance to live, and turned it down at every step.

Force + 1 is protocol for a reason. As a cop, it is your job to control the situation. “Fist fighting homie straight up” is not force plus one, and that decision put innocent lives at risk.

When you really drill down into it, the inability to fully understand “past vs present vs future” makes it almost impossible to follow a legitimate morality. How much of our morality is based on order of events? The state punishes the criminal with violence of a sort, but only after the criminal offended. The homeowner kills the home invader, but only after the latter attacked the former. America attacks Germany, but only after Germany invades Poland/France/etc. If someone can’t process the importance time in determining what is justified violence and what is not, then of course their morality is completely fucked.

You'd have better luck using their lack of oversight against them, put up your most convincing spoof "support fund" collection ASAP and quietly organize a mass report of the alternatives to become the de facto leader. You probably won't be able to keep up the charade long enough to cash out, clean it up, and quietly slip the money to the actual victims/family, but hopefully it would last long enough to kill the PR inertia and vastly reduce the amount of blood money the criminals eventually gather.
