Because you need a certain level of IQ to understand the concepts of past, future, consequences, and smoke detector batteries. Anyone below that level just constantly lives in the moment, thoughtlessly reacting to stimulus without a care for what happens next.
Psychopath can't plan well. Because their empathy is broken, they can't imagine themselves in the future
You plan to make things easier for your future self. Your future self isn't you.
At some point you must wonder if these people are even sentient.
When you really drill down into it, the inability to fully understand “past vs present vs future” makes it almost impossible to follow a legitimate morality. How much of our morality is based on order of events? The state punishes the criminal with violence of a sort, but only after the criminal offended. The homeowner kills the home invader, but only after the latter attacked the former. America attacks Germany, but only after Germany invades Poland/France/etc. If someone can’t process the importance time in determining what is justified violence and what is not, then of course their morality is completely fucked.
It's kind of scary to think about how many people out there don't understand basic things like cause and effect. I can't even put myself in that state of mind.
Basically they are just animals.
