Literally no one who liked Fury Road cared about Furiosa. Shit most nobody cared about the women or even Max in that movie.

It was a movie that was carried entirely on people identifying with the bad guys and getting hyped up imagining them living that life. Every single person who watched it left that room screaming "WITNESS" and probably continued for weeks after too.

It was such a failure of a feminist power fantasy movie they kept trying to portray it as that it made people side with the slave cult, and yet they kept pushing with the plans to turn this bitch into the franchise face.

The theatres can stay alive based on old movies alone, this year has proven that,(25 yr old movies are packing seats while new releases, crickets) maybe theatres can finally put something in their pocket besides popcorn money.

Yeah they just have to rerelease actually good movies people want to see. If somebody knows one of their favorite movies is being shown they would probably want to see it more than [Hollywood woke remake #23].

Honestly the family and I watched Shrek 2, all three spider-man 2000’s movies, and the phantom menace and we had more of a blast than any recent movies I can think of. Even the kids don’t get excited over newer marvel movies because they can tell it all sucks too

That is so cool! I love that the little ones got to see those on the big screen! I will agree I've seen a lot of people stoked about older movies and that's good stuff.

It’s actually not a woke movie. Chris Hemsworth’s Dementus is almost a protagonist as much as the chick is. The movie’s basically her becoming him. It’s a decent summer fun movie.

Her being a frail girl actually does give her explained advantages in rising up some ranks since they need someone small and light to maneuver among dangerous machinery like at the bottom of a giant super semi or along things being pulled up by cranes. She also gets taken under the wing by the wealth of knowledge for the groups so she ends up knowing a lot.

Her being smarter actually makes sense because she came from a place of food and abundance and education and everyone else is basically an indoctrinated malnourished retard. It’s actually a decent movie. It’s not amazing or deep but it’s mighty decent. The Mad Max universe is absurd in a fun way but it’s a decent addition. I’ve only seen the original and not Fury Road. I liked Furiosa. I’d give it a 7-7.5.

The only reason I even saw it in the theaters was because I have a movie membership and Memorial Day weekend is crowded and we wanted something easy to do that we wouldn’t be crowded out of.

If it wasn’t for that, I don’t think I’d have had the inclination to ever see it, even at home. It’s a good movie few people have any reason to see anymore and it does at least from the trailers seem like it’d be some kind of girl boss movie or something since it’s a Mad Max movie with a female lead. It’s mostly guilty of coming out at the wrong time culturally.

Even if the movie is actually good, any movie that's a sequel to a popular movie + has a female main character is going to struggle now.

▲ 33 ▼
– MAGAnic316 33 points 2 years ago +33 / -0

As fucking well it should. If you replace the main character in ANY popular film series with a completely different person (eg a minority or a strong modern whamen), you’re not really making a true sequel anymore, are you? You’re making woke fan fiction.

There is a long ass post back in reddit KIA2 about this movie, fucking out of the blue.

Remind me of that long ass post here about how Fallout wasn't bad.

Wonder if its the same shill.

Haven’t read that KIA1 post but Furiosa was a fun movie when I saw it. Never saw Fury Road. It’s way more like Kill Bill than it is the female Ghostbusters. The way the world works it’s actually not that hard to understand too. She grows and is capable because she grew up with nourishment in a place of abundance. Most people in the show are made out to be retards because they’re malnourished and lied to and grow up starving. She’s a girl that didn’t and was taken care of and taught by a psychopath that she eventually becomes out of revenge.

It’s not literary cinema or anything, but as a fun box office summer movie it’s more than decent. She doesn’t really do almost all the cool stuff in the movie. Her being allowed to not get fucked and be made a baby factory itself doesn’t make sense once it’s clear she’s a girl to everyone but everything else was decent.

Meanwhile, Godzilla X Kong was hated by critics, loved by the audience, and made the most money of any Godzilla film at theaters.

Everything other than Godzilla is absolutely awful in those movies, though. They rightfully portray Godzilla as an absolutely badarse force of nature, but the human characters are insufferable. I have yet to see the newest Godzilla x Kong, but if it's more insufferable human side-plots, I don't know if I can sit through that again.

Props, though, to the writers for making Legendary's Godzilla come across as such a force that he's quickly become one of the most popular iterations of the big G.

I agree with you regarding the Hollywood made Godzilla movies (except the 2014 film, which I thought was pretty good). However, you should check out the Japanese one that came out recently, called Godzilla Minus One. It was really good, didn't have any diversity (everyone is appropriately Japanese, since the story takes place in Japan), it idolized and extolled the virtues of the Japanese people, had good messages in it, had some decent twists in it, and it makes you feel good after watching it, and not depressed from all the degeneracy, nihilism, and brow beating like in Hollywood movies. They made Godzilla the bad guy (apparently that's how he started out), where he's an allegory to nuclear weapons. I can't recommend it enough.

You can sit in the comfort of your own home watching 1080p or higher these days depending on how much money you spend and you've got fancy as fuck projectors now for that cinema feel.

This. I've done about the same thing, even picked up an HF8 haptic feedback device for the chair, which works great when watching blockbuster action films on the big screen. No sense travelling to the theatre when you can get the full movie-going experience sat at home.

People still care about movies, Hollywood just don’t make them anymore - they make propaganda now.

But every once in a while, a Sound of Freedom or a Top Gun Maverick slips through the cracks and slaps them like a dick in their stupid faces.

He does have a point though that "going to the movies" isn't a common activity for young White Americans any more. People don't go to the theater and then see whatever looks interesting. If a movie gets great word of mouth reviews then people will go see it.

I don't mean to quibble (no, I do) but I'm pretty sure it's "worst Memorial Day opening weekend in 3 decade*" because in 2020 the theaters were closed. Looking up Box Office Mojo, grosses were around $2 million. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/holiday/us_memorialday_weekend/2020/ I bring this up because I noticed that in Doomcock's video he makes the mistake of reading between the lines and insists that this 3 decades figure is including 2020, which I'm pretty sure it isn't. Just more shit reporting from "journalists."

I suspect the real kicker is that this is the worst grossing Memorial Weekend opening without adjusting for inflation. 30 years of inflation is almost 250% from some quick math. So it's entirely possible those numbers are the worst non-covid numbers ever.

I liked Furiosa in Mad Max Fury Road....but not enough to pay to see a prequel movie about her in theaters.

I also don't like Anya Taylor-Joy, her eyes are so wide they're migrating to the sides of her head and she looks like a fake person spat out by an AI. It doesn't help she got that cheek fat suction surgery to make her eyes look even bigger, but it's going to prematurely age her in just a few years.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but Immortan Joe did nothing wrong. He set up a system where he had access to water. He traded it for other necessities and set up a trade network. He respected the terms he'd set up with other suppliers and formed alliances. He set up a security force and marked territory. He recruited and supplied an army.

The wasteland is a shithole. Nobody out there has a future, but he did give purpose to fighting age men and those with usable skills. Even the people who had nothing to offer and no means to move on were given water, scant as the supply was.

He sets up a stronghold. He grows food and gets himself set up well. Is it too much to ask to want a family who can carry what he's built into the future? Do these women really have a lot of options? He's the equivalent of a billionaire in the wasteland.

No matter where you were out there, if you appeared on any factions' radar, you got jacked. That's just how it is, and his raiding parties were a necessity or he'd be seen as weak. The man was an adapted homesteader.

Yeah that they wrote "our babies will not be warlords" when they left was cringe. What would they choose for them otherwise if Furiosa hadn't filled their heads with the horseshit story of some green paradise inhabited only by women? Baristas and poets? If they hadn't figured out that it was a daydream by that point, in the world they were living in where everyone has serious issues, then he was right to lock them up for their own protection.

It's an unintentional criticism of feminism.

These girls living better than every other human for 1000 miles around are convinced by a dried up resentful old woman who filled their head with nonsense to leave for a pipe dream (the goal ended up being a dried up desert with dried up old ladies; ironic symbolism), only for 2 men to keep them alive long enough for them to listen to reason
