These people tie generosity to government. I remember in 2016 so many Bernie supporters acted as if they were moral and righteous for supporting the free stuff campaign. Ask them what they do with their own money to help the poor. Also I think teaching someone to fish is helping the poor more than having them depend on you for a fish everyday

They've been programmed to buy sob stories of "oh the gun went off" or "The guy tried to fight back so I panicked, didn't know what to do... I didn't mean for anyone to end up dead." I have an understanding because I have an understanding of warfare. People do not understand violence. This is one of the reasons I actually object to censoring gore and violence on the news and general television. People don't understand what a brutal attack looks like, and the mentality of the person conducting the attack. All they've ever seen of violence was a scrum, maybe a weapon, then pixels, and a narrator saying that they can't show what happened next.
I used to be a regular on r/WatchPeopleDie and while you can definitely over-do it, people need to see what real horror looks like. Before the sub closed, there was a big discussion on what people had taken away from the sub. Top answer: "wear your seatbelt 100% of the time when traveling at speed." You don't need to many examples of what happens to people who get ejected to understand that the seat-belt rule is a moral imperative. Any cop would tell you the same thing. This is because the horror and gore is valuable information that you should memorize so that you don't let it happen to you.
I know people that work in corrections, and I'll tell you what, nobody is more against "reform and rehabilitation" than people who live and work with criminals every day. If they had their way, the US would have a "Bloody Code". This is because they see what these people do, how they refuse to improve, and without even the slightest filter.

We taught ourselves to fish as 5 year olds using sticks and string we'd loot out of random piles of garbage (its South Louisiana, every yard has at least once pile of garbage). "Nigga poles" as everyone called them. Not incredibly sturdy or capable of much, but we'd still manage to catch smaller catfish and other random bayou critters. At least one a day with a few hours of work and no bait.
Literally the easiest shit in the world to do, unless you've decided to live somewhere where there aren't any fucking fish. And we had no reason to do it but boredom, as we only went through the effort of eating them like 3 times (mostly because catfish tastes like fucking trash). With hunger as a motivator, we'd probably have a much bigger haul daily.
Point being, fuck you starve. If I'm fishing I'll have the necessary knives on me to sort out any "counting".
