People never should have bought the damn horse armor.
And yet, to this day, people still defend MTX because "it's only cosmetic". You know, despite repeated examples of it no longer being "just cosmetic". Never mind the whole thing only got people used to the idea of being nickled and dimed for ever thin cent.
Even ignoring the "its just" cosmetic argument, until shortly after the Horse Armor precedent was set games were usually filled with cosmetics. They still existed without needing 2.99$ to motivate the creators, and often added a huge amount to the game in terms of things to do. Fuck the entire original God of War game built its entire replayability on unlocking costumes.
Heck even the Ubisoft "time savers" MTX used to just be fucking cheat codes or straight upgrades built into the game.
Fine. I'll pirate your cars.
You wouldn't download a car
Lexus Car Mods...but they won't allow the mod to remove the pride flag speedometer.
You wouldn't download a handbag.
You wouldn’t download a policeman’s helmet, and then go to the toilet in it!
I know this is a joke about that "You Wouldn't Steal a DVD" short, but why does THIS line sound so familiar?
It's a sketch as a part of the I.T crowd.

not twice anyway
I get all my car DLC from the high seas. 🏴☠️
I'm pretty sure that anything where a car manufacturer puts a limiter on a car like this, you will be able to hack it to take the limiter off.
Probably. Watch them make it illegal to do so though. Then it just becomes a matter of how trackable and enforceable it is.
but then they'd put in DRM, which won't stop the hackers but will flip out on normies trying to use it perfectly legally.
Fuck. It is going to be just like video game DLC, isn't it?
Can't wait for my ABS not to activate when emergency braking because Denuvo stalled the CPU.
Or the ignition not working because your social credit is too low.
retvrn to cars being pure machines
Yep, the average consoomer has no idea what's about to hit them.
I only know BMWs. Normally it is pretty easy to turn on and off factory options and seat belt chimes and DVD playing and autolocking. You need a bit of pir8ed software and a soldered or ebay cable, but that's all. The question is what will they do in the case of DLC BS to prevent what you can do now.
You know what, old preachy commercial, I WOULD download a car.
With a bear inside!
I would go to toilet in a policeman's helmet and then send it to the policeman's grieving widow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALZZx1xmAzg
And then steal it again! >:D
And they said we were crazy.
hmmmmmm
Not just DLC. A Subscription Service. Course the Gold Edition car has it included probably.
Maybe if you pre-order the car you can get the extra HP for free?
I usually just wait for car to go down in price and get all the unlocked Horsepower Season Passes for $9.99.
Gamergate strikes again!
Go home, driver girl!
Reject modern return to horse.
1 hp, some terrain, cheaper than filling up these days and still annoys spandex twats on their victorian contraptions.
Related incomprehensible shitpost song
I can't wait until my (mandatory) self driving car takes me to "suggested locations" instead of where I want to go.
People will LOVE this!
Remember when everyone was downloading extra RAM over the Internet 20 years ago?
According to a study published in The Information Society, the anti-piracy campaign that included the "You wouldn't steal a car" advert may have actually increased piracy rates. The campaign was widely mocked and parodied. The authors of the study claim that by informing people of how pervasive piracy is, the adverts allowed them to rationalize the crime. They also lessened the impact of the message by comparing piracy to much more serious crimes, like stealing handbags and cars.
and then they turned out to be massive hypocrites:
The delicious irony of Hollywood trying to shame pirates while demonstrating that they screw over more people than we ever could, at a much more sophisticated level to boot.
Given who runs Hollywood it's no surprise
A fair few piracy jokes in here, but this is a really good example of why right to repair/right of ownership is such an important fucking thing.
If I buy that car, I own it. Nobody else should get to dictate what I can or cannot do with my property so long as it doesn't intentionally bring physical harm to an innocent. But the government loves giving corporations more and more power through regulations which never benefit the end user.
It's not piracy to utilise what I own to its full potential.
or just find a guy who will hack the car for you.
Ah, a car "pirate"
Is not even DLC, at least you "own" it permanently.
That shit is a sub.
You wouldn't download a car...
Everything is per month now. You go try to buy a car and you have to basically pry the actual price out of them. They just want to tell you it's 695 a month.
I love how the media tries to spin this as a good thing. Fucking laughable.
So one time I replied to this commie thot to explain why she was wrong about some socialist bullshit like insulin prices & earned my Twitter Silver.
This is worse than DLC. It's Day 1 DLC.
You can't download horsepower. That horsepower is already available on the car, and you are just paying to have the lock/restriction removed on it. Just like they did with DLC content that was pre-loaded onto disks, that you had to pay to unlock.
The only circumstance in which this should be allowed is for services that inherently require an external service that requires upkeep. A subscription for navigation assistance is fine, a subscription to un-cripple your car's engine should get you hanged.
Horsepower you then can't USE because SPEED LIMITS exist
$60 for 60 hp is incredibly not worth it
