Not exactly. They made something that they think should be popular and then try to use their incestuous media connections to force people to accept it.
If they were actually playing their own game, they'd have fixed all the QOL issues before release.
Yeah there's a huge difference between making something you think is actually cool or fun, and creating something that you think will appeal to the biggest amount of people.
You can just watch those original Halo devs vs. modern ones videos to see the difference.
Yeah there's a huge difference between making something you think is actually cool or fun, and creating something that you think will appeal to the biggest amount of people.
A game I would want to make would not have a large amount of widespread appeal, though.
It would start with Tarkov's gun autism, have STALKER's A-Life system, and probably numerous have references that are about five-deep chains of references to other references. The complexity would only increase from there.
Yes, that is how markets are supposed to work. The fact you think you are entitled to a minimum of consumption doesn't make it so. People can dislike your game for any reason they choose, that includes political bias.
Yeah. If they cant hold your attention or entice you at the start of the game.. the game sucks. Honestly, i dont like tutorials. I like exploring the mechanics on my own. If people arent getting past tutorial either people think its annoying, too long, or off putting.
Okay, let's also ignore the facts that the game was destined to fail whether or not geoff keighley displayed it at the end of the show, like the thing someone is supposed to most anticipate.
Trailer made the game look awful
Made a game no one asked for
In an already oversaturated market with other free to play hero shooter games struggling to retain players.
A near Flatline of player count inside the release week
I think whether or not keighley did that intentionally is irrelevant. If they just shadow dropped it, there would have been even less players.
The Concord 2 label is accurate, people from Concord worked on this. Apparently losing Sony nearly half a billion dollars is not reason enough to never hire you again. Gotta lose more money for other businesses.
I didn't even want to try it, but the consensus on the reviews was 3x3 was not a good idea, the game pace is too slow. They quickly added a 5x5, but the player base had shrunk so quick getting a 5x5 together would take upwards of 20 minutes just to form up to play an already boring game.
Also, for a team that says they didn't just copy overwatch's homework, but worse: over = high, watch = guard.
Might as well have just gone for straight up ripoff. Like uhh, that's not Junkrat, that's Garbage Mouse. And that's not Roadhog, that's Street Swine. etc.
That's pretty remarkable given the effort that would be required. It's an across-the-board increase in frame costs -- rendering, audio, networking, and game thread, not to mention a fundamental change in the player experience. They must have done some serious crunch doing the absolute bare minimum work to get it up and running, even if the engineers quietly expected and architected for this all along.

The Western nomenclature of trying to keep titles under four syllables is absolutely asinine to me. It really highlights how badly they're seeing low-IQ consumers.
To the credit of many Asian developers, at least they get creative with their game titles, regardless of how goofy they sound. At least they stand out and don't feel like they were focus-group tested to appeal to the intelligence of nigger-tier consumers.
To be fair, the public was unreasonably hostile - people were calling it Concord 2 from the moment they saw it. Their mashup of attack/defend FPS and battle royale might not have worked out, but they didn't have a roster half-full of ugly weirdos like Concord.
Not even about punishment, but about discernment; woke means effort is going in to appeasing "modern audiences" that should be spent on making the game fun.
Woke games all suck, not necessarily because they're woke but because they focus on what they think a good game should be instead of what a good game actually is. They want broccoli-headed numales to be popular, but they aren't and never will be. So they waste time trying to change people's minds (like Communists).
Frankly, the same thing happens to "based" media, which is why all the Daily Wire stuff is DOA. Nobody but your own people want to watch your propaganda; make it entertaining or don't make it.
They chose to make Broccoli-hair their focal viewpoint character. First shown, first highlighted.
If Overwatch was announced with that little "the world needs more heroes!" trailer, but instead of Tracer, it was Roadhog, it would give a very different feel, perhaps to the point of damaging the brand before its release. Marketing 101: Give the people what they want, and then convince them that what you have fulfills that want.
If the game's trailer had a hot spandex-clad woman as the first image, the main thing burned into the minds of the viewers... It would not have fixed the fact the game wasn't fun in its release form, but it would have evaded a good chunk of the bad reception. They advertised the wrong character.
Thought exercise at home: You're trying to sell a set of knives. What should your primary image and presenting focus be on? A) A knife. B) A spoon. C) A kangaroo.
Kinda funny btw. They had a blonde male (unheard of these days) that is a Ken (street fighter) or Terry (snk) look a like. If they used that, it wouldve had a more positive vibe with asians and whites.
Our people are being exterminated from the face of the earth and our culture is being erased. Unless something actively fights against this, I will do everything in my power to destroy it simply for existing.
I watched some gameplay. I saw the pre-fight "resource harvesting" and "base reinforcement" phases. These mechanics were embarrassingly shallow. The geplay "loop" was completely unengaging and, frankly, retarded. This game was comically undercooked, and no single aspect was good enough to retain players.
Generic in the bad way unfortunately. Overwatch but medieval styled, with THE most generic designs and gameplay I’ve ever seen. It actually looks like a fake video game made for a movie or TV show.
Crazy thought but if your making a game then you might want to take gamer culture into account. That they immediately added 5v5 and shortened the pre-combat time shows these idiots never actually play tested the game. If they had been normal and done beta testing they might have stood a chance. Instead they huffed their own farts and went in on this asinine stealth drop scheme.
Maybe shitting on people with that kind of power wasn't the best idea?
Have they tried making a good game?
No no, see they made something the wanted to make for themselves and it was your responsibility as the gamer to play it!
Not exactly. They made something that they think should be popular and then try to use their incestuous media connections to force people to accept it.

It sounds great on paper.
Why make a good game when you can just keep scamming investors into paying your rent while pretending to work?
>:^(That'd be racist
*squats over your plate, pants down* "How do you know it's shit? It's not out yet?"
*Some time later* "They only played for half an hour! It's not a real review!"
*12 seconds later* "Well those people only played for two hours! It's not a real review!"
I'm not seeking out the excuses, but I'm surprised one of the devs didn't pull out a high number of hours for excuses.
Yes, that is how markets are supposed to work. The fact you think you are entitled to a minimum of consumption doesn't make it so. People can dislike your game for any reason they choose, that includes political bias.
If they don't like it maybe they should build their own gaming market
Them probably: "gaming market?"
A review bomb would have zero playtime, those are legit reviews.
Yeah. If they cant hold your attention or entice you at the start of the game.. the game sucks. Honestly, i dont like tutorials. I like exploring the mechanics on my own. If people arent getting past tutorial either people think its annoying, too long, or off putting.
"at launch, we received over 14k review bombs from users with less than an hour of playtime”
Yeah because gamers know if they hate or like it within an hour.
Okay, let's also ignore the facts that the game was destined to fail whether or not geoff keighley displayed it at the end of the show, like the thing someone is supposed to most anticipate.

They probably had it done before the game went gold, because it'd take way the heck too long to do it after the fact.
The Western nomenclature of trying to keep titles under four syllables is absolutely asinine to me. It really highlights how badly they're seeing low-IQ consumers.

Communists hate markets, film at 11.

"The Market" (Gamers) have decided that they will boycott anything that even vaguely smells of woke.
If we punish enough publishers, eventually the industry will get the message. If not? Well, we can always go back to playing good Indy games.
Star Sector still is the best value I've ever spent on a game. It is awesome.
hey hey people
Starsector is the best twenty bucks I've ever spent.

Highguard chose B, Concord chose C.
It wasn’t concord or dust born tier ultra woke, but the main character was a racial ambiguous broccoli sidecut nu-male.
Just because it wasn’t a hamplanet zim/zer doesn’t mean people didn’t smell the woke. It wasn’t unreasonable
Haven't seen this one in ages thank you

Out in the sun, during summer, Mediterranean at best. Maybe. Which is why I say ambiguous.
Apparently not popular enough to get people to play and stay.

It didn't help that Dorito Pope shilled the game last-minute at the Game Awards.

Maybe try not making the literal definition of generic.

It’s literally the Skinner Meme:
“Am I out of touch? No, it’s those kids who are wrong!”
