I hate the term “homophobic” and I never thought I’d hate a term more but I think “transphobia” took its spot. The idea that acknowledging basic reality is bigoted shows how crazy society is. Also shoving lgbt stuff down people’s throat (especially trans crap) gets highly annoying. The vast majority of people are straight yet somehow we need to be inundated with this stuff
It's not even proper grammar in our language or in Latin. Freaks do not elicit fear in anyone, that's projection on their part. They elicit disgust, because they're disgusting.
The correct Latin for that would probably be Fastidum. Not as low effort for a buzzword, but then your average leftist cannot be accused of being highly literate.
Two men kissing is disgusting to almost any straight male. Fag acceptance destroys masculinity and forces women into a contradiction. They want to embrace the poor, oppressed, dick-loving faggots that like dick just as much as they do. Meanwhile, they want manly, strong men who aren’t into embracing faggots. If they look for a man who loves faggots, they get soy boys.
Even racism is bullshit. I have been seeing a lot of content here that would get called racist. It got me thinking about how it’s not all white men here, even if we are the majority. Then I realized that the use of the term racism has us in this all or nothing mentality where if you point out the terrible patterns of racial groups, then you hate all people in that group and can’t see any exceptions. You don’t need to ignore the group patterns to receive people of a different group. You can do both.
I can at least understand how the other isms became taboo, since it's manifestly unjust to judge or treat a person according to immutable characteristics. Of course almost no one actually hates every last individual member of any given race or ethnicity, or of one sex, and even the most racist regimes in history had multiracial cooperation.
But it amazes me that anyone could feel the same kind of outrage at "transphobia" that we intuitively feel towards slavery or genocide or racial caste systems, because a man who thinks he's a woman (or vice-versa) is simply insane. I can understand a certain amount of pity, however the same people who have such strong feels for deranged men who LARP as women are otherwise contemptuous in the extreme towards deranged men.
It's like the "place, Japan" meme, but with "incel" vs "incel, dressed as woman" instead. So I don't think that pity for freaks, let alone male freaks, is what animates proglodytes to get so angry on the behalf of troons.
I truly feel bad for people who believe they are the opposite sex because it’s a mental issue and it’s being celebrated. People who think delusion is something to encourage are the sick ones. As a Christian obviously not a fan of of lgbt movement but I am supposed to show love.
I can understand scenarios like Blair White, but these days if you did any gender bending stupid shit as a kid, this is used to encourage you to become a mutilated tranny freak that’ll most certainly vote Democrat.
I think most of us or at least 30-49% did stupid, gender-disregarding things on rare occasions when we were kids. It’s just kids being curious and stupid.
To Blair White’s credit, he does acknowledge he is a male. Although I personally find him hard to look at he doesn’t force people to accept his personal reality
It's not manifestly unjust to "judge or treat a person according to immutable characteristics". You could even argue it's preferable, depending on context. We don't intuitively feel outrage at slavery or genocide or racial caste systems either. All of the above is learned behavior passed down through culture. Widespread moral opposition to those things (rather than simply hating when it's done to our in-group) is a modern phenomenon brought on by globalization, the spread of Christianity, and expansion of our "circle of empathy."
I only point this relativism out because it's important to realize that our culture is something special that could be completely subverted and turned on its head. There is no limit to the depths that humanity can fall if we don't protect what we consider moral and just, which has been built over generations of civilization.
Yea. The technical definition but it’s always used when anyone questions why the group is so over represented in media. Dont think it’s fear but more so annoyance with the constant push
I don't think it's mistakenly used. rather, I think the use of "phobia" is a deflection. they're basically telling people who object to their gender delusions
nigga you just scared. fraidycat pussy ass coward!
it's a great way to short circuit the conversation
It's just a mediocre expansion. They had no idea where to go after Endwalker wrapped everything up with a bow. The character is somewhat annoying. I liked her at first, but she gets tedious. You never get a break because she's with you almost constantly.
What you see happening in OP are the same kind of pathetic shills who still get excited for Star Wars when it's beyond bad. They need to find anything to deflect criticism because liking $MEDIA_PROPERTY is their identity.
95% of players don't give a shit about voice actors at all unless they're bad at their job or are a attention whore like Rial/Marchi who force themselves to the forefront of all conversations.
It's just not a very good or engaging story this time. That was my opinion BEFORE the psychotic twitter defense squad brought this information about the English VA to my attention and it's still my opinion after.
And why are you using the English voices in the first place?
Edit: As it's pointed out elsewhere, the character is at the bottom of JP popularity as well and any VA issues don't apply outside of EN. It's just a bad story with bad characterization.
The other talking point is that you're not allowed to compare this latest expansion to Stormblood-- an earlier ff14 expansion where another strong female character (Lyse) got shoved into the spotlight to the detriment of the story.
Wuk Lamat's character arc is better than Lyse's, mirroring a journey from idealism to leadership, but she's also pushed so hard that it backfires. The heel among the rival leadership candidates (Bakool Ja Ja) and a bee-themed raid boss (Honey B. Lovely) are more popular. (Mostly because rule 34.)
Even the people screaming transphobia would be hard pressed to argue it was better than EW, ShB, or HW. That leaves the dreaded Stormblood comparison, which I think Dawntrail is better than-- but not by much. It's mostly the polish in production and the consistent mechanics that let Dawntrail win out over Stormblood.
At least Lyse had some history with the WoL and scions. Wuk just shows up and goes, "I heard you're strong, want to help me succeed a throne on the other side of the star?"
Besides, Stormblood had much better new characters. Bakool Ja Ja's got a an arc but Dawntrail doesn't have anyone as likable as Sadu/Magnai, Gosetsu, or Hien and Yugiri. Stormblood had better villains too, even if Zenos ended up overstaying his welcome IMHO.
I don't think DT is awful, but it has the presence of a filler arc whereas SB at least progressed the Garlean Empire plotline... but that's not really a fair comparison.
95% of players don't give a shit about voice actors at all unless they're bad at their job or are a attention whore like Rial/Marchi who force themselves to the forefront of all conversations.
Yea the only thing I even noticed was how inconsistent Y'shtola's lines were. Other than that our group knew going into it she had 'big Naruto energy' so we expected a bit of annoyance.
Wait isn't 14 their online cash cow that is the reason they turn a profit?
I will never understand why management would take an online game that makes it's money from selling customisation and inject ideologies or start practices that piss off the majority.
If it were me, if I can't find a way to improve an income stream without risking it, I'd rather leave it and make a seperate contained project so I don't risk losing it all.
Think the major complaint is the previous writer for all the other expansions didn't write this so there's a huge tonal shift and there's some writers waifu being pushed hard
Ah so the lack of story consistency is the issue. That seems more a leftist issue as EVERY author needs to 'leave their mark' especially in franchises they didn't create.
It's made worse by waifu pushing as only the original authors can really get away with that, thinking of for example Anno and the Rebuild films with that character based off his wife.
It wasn't an impossible task, they just made the stupid mistake of going to South America in this expansion (and then later to North America for the technology part).
There's llamas and hot peppers and pyramids. That's it. There's no interesting story to tell - maybe there was, but if so it was lost to history when the empires fell. It's a boring continent, with shitty pan-flute music.
They have so much IP they could draw on for a new story, for instance going to Spira and fighting Sin or something like that.
They have so much IP they could draw on for a new story, for instance going to Spira and fighting Sin or something like that.
Actually outright doing other worlds like that tends to be more Raid territory than main scenario, but I do acknowledge all the recurring themes they put into Eorzea's world.

I'm constantly being told that I'm media illiterate by people who can't tell the difference between the depiction of evil in fiction and the endorsement of evil in real life.
They did the meme. Anyway, it's not just the fact that the vast majority of people find troons repulsive. They don't want to spend hours listening to the uncanny pitch of a male attempting to impersonate a woman. That isn't fear, but a natural, rightful revulsion. The primary issue is that Dawntrail is a subpar expansion overall. French, German, and Japanese dubs all had the privilege of being voiced by a biological woman, but the general sentiment in those regions was that Dawntrail's writing was not good.
No idea about any of this, so I looked up Wuk Lamat. Furry. No thanks.
I can’t stand anthromorphic animals really in any game outside of a temporary appearance for comedic purposes. Modern ones are worst, because they always act like furries.
Despite the fact I am proudly every -ist and -phobe they name, Dawntrail MSQ is still garbage. I really like Valigarmanda, but I'm currently level 95 with absolutely zero desire to play recently because every session I get, I'm watching some bullshit I don't care about starring people who suck. Wuk Lamat being a tranny doesn't even register on my list of issues because I've played JAP VAs since Heavensward.
This entire narrative falls apart from even a cursory glance at the Japanese forums which have been filled to the brim with complaints about Wuk Lamat since the release of Dawntrail.
The character is pretty overwhelmingly hated by every single community. Just about the only people defending Wuk Lamat are those dying on this weird hill where they pretend all the criticism is due to the identity of the English language VA. It's like they are incapable of nuance on any topic where a fellow tranny might be viewed as anything other than perfect and blameless in all things.
The character AND the voice work can both suck entirely independently from one another. The character certainly isn't bad because of the VA, though I imagine this particular performance didn't help matters any.

I don't really play online games that much, and I've never played an FF online game, so I don't really have a dog in this fight, but generally speaking, one problem gamers have had at least since the gamergate days is articulating their objections to this character, or that creative choice or whatever, and the lefties tend to glom onto this autistic miscommunication to try to pick apart the arguments, shallowly making comparisons to characters/choices that fans enjoy to make their specious arguments about the 'ism' or 'phobia' they want to hide behind.
The only real advice I can give regarding this tactic is to really think hard about why a character or choice bothers you for a little while, and then take some time picking words carefully, so there can be no ambiguity to exploit.
Leftists always attempt to pixel-bitch your argument, because they believe if they can somehow disprove one small, niggling element, that the entire thing comes down like some unholy house of cards.
It's why you'll get constant, repeated questioning and harassment from leftists/soyjacks that's just a tortured rephrasing a question you already answered - they're trying to get you to phrase your argument in a way that'll let them nit-pick it to death. Or, even better, dismiss it entirely because you committed wrong-think.
I've been seeing alot of this recently, especially in Warhammer.
funny enough, the best way to defang them I've ever found is to be polite and even friendly while tearing their arguments down. They can't deal with it. They can handle anger, they can play victim to snark and snide remarks, but be nice to them while completely shredding their position? they completely lose it.
Grummz isn't the best mouthpiece for criticism here. IIRC, his playtime was barely enough to have cleared the MSQ through Endwalker, let alone reach Dawntrail.
"Most insufferable character' also ignores Lyse, a similar waifu/mary-sue from Stormblood, which makes me think Grummz hasn't actually played through the MSQ. (Story skips are a thing, but that's also a black mark against anyone seriously critiquing the game's story.)
Even if the critique is based in fact, Grummz is enough of a clout-chaser to question his motives.
Lyse at least had the courtesy to not fucking hog most of your time in an expansion. You're stuck with that writer's pet furry for pretty much 90% of the quests.
And Lyse wasn't completely written as bad as Ms Popular Furry who basically learns nothing throughout the entire MSQ and gets some sudden hyper level spurt without a single day of training. Lyse at least has some character growth through Stormblood MSQ and didn't end up so strong that she does limit breaks like it's free.
The other 2 NPCs billed to be important to the MSQ got some bullshit 10-20 mins of combined MSQ time and that's it.
Also, in Stormblood the main character (that is, the player) remains the main character. It might be Lyse's story, but if she's Yuna, the player is Tidus. Dawntrail downgrades the main character from Tidus to Kimahri.
I can vouch for how weak of a character Lyse was, but people insist this new character is THAT much worse. I never went back after Stormblood, but that had more to do with life, time, and responsibilities than anything else, I actually wanted to go back after hearing all the praise Shadowbringers got.
not only is it worse than Lyse, but her design is not a cute waifu but a tall gender ambiguous furry, and the voice acting is possibly the worst even shipped in a videogame.
this is the climax of the story - (jap vs english version)
I hate the term “homophobic” and I never thought I’d hate a term more but I think “transphobia” took its spot. The idea that acknowledging basic reality is bigoted shows how crazy society is. Thanks. We do our best. Too bad our mod is cucked though.
Our mod is what?
Cucked.
I personally disagree, I think he's just lazy and isn't here every day, thus should hire at least one more...
Yea. Although I got tired of the word racism being thrown around before homophobia. But no arguments from me. Definitely agree with your overall point
I can at least understand how the other isms became taboo, since it's manifestly unjust to judge or treat a person according to immutable characteristics. Very good point.
It keeps you on the defensive, defending basic reality, instead of working on other issues.
Homophobia is simply the fear of homosexuality. Transphobia is the fear of delusion.
Yea. The technical definition but it’s always used when anyone questions why the group is so over represented in media. Dont think it’s fear but more so annoyance with the constant push

Eh. The game finished it's story quite conclusively in the last expansion. They really just had an impossible task moving "forwards" from there.
It wasn't an impossible task, they just made the stupid mistake of going to South America in this expansion (and then later to North America for the technology part).

Oh the tales I could tell about how mismanaged FFXI was...
Square has never been helmed by very intelligent people.
That reminds me of when Jews bought Disney and Disney bought Star Wars.
I'm constantly being told that I'm media illiterate by people who can't tell the difference between the depiction of evil in fiction and the endorsement of evil in real life.
"Media literacy" is the newest online buzzword. Just ignore everyone who uses it.
They did the meme. Anyway, it's not just the fact that the vast majority of people find troons repulsive. TTD.
Guys, guys! Why not both? I hate it for the shitty story AND the VA of the point character is trans. Y'all gotta step it up!
MUH MEDIA LITERACY!
No idea about any of this, so I looked up Wuk Lamat. Furry. No thanks.
I can’t stand anthromorphic animals really in any game outside of a temporary appearance for comedic purposes. Modern ones are worst, because they always act like furries.
FF kept adding them over time. The early entries weren't so bad and things like Moogles were obviously not anthromorphs.
Yeah, I don’t mind alien races, weird little talking animals, or what not. As soon as it crosses into human with pet ears, I’m out.
Despite the fact I am proudly every -ist and -phobe they name, Dawntrail MSQ is still garbage. The character AND the voice work can both suck entirely independently from one another. The character certainly isn't bad because of the VA, though I imagine this particular performance didn't help matters any.
TLDR?
The English VA for the new main story character (who has a LOOOT of screentime) is voiced by some dumb FtM tranny, or something, but the voice is terrible and the acting is bad, and it's extremely hard to overlook. Because trannies have such immeasurable self-consciousness they translate all of the (completely valid) writing criticism for the character 'Wuk Lamat' (woke lmao) as just hating her because she's voiced by said tranny.
MtF
I just thought the voice actor was trying to imitate having a cleft lip like the character has. Didn't know they were just a freak in real life.
People don't like the new expansion cause new writer and a new writer pushing their waifu plus bad plot so they claim people don't like it cause of transphobia
The main character's name is 'Woke Lmao'
Ignoring Woke Lumat, the story is just a major tonal shift to shit and the new classes aren’t that amazing.
For those who don’t know, the last expansion (Endwalker) was a major end point to the story told until Dawntrail. You literally met and resolved the majority of the world’s problems with a very awesome emotional rollercoaster and awesome fight scenes. It’s a very tight ending to most plot points. This expansion (Dawntrail) you are looking for an adventure and you decide to help Woke L to become the new king of magic Not-Mexico.
Almost nobody who plays the game wants troonery, race-mixing, faggotry and feminism in it.
Gtfo with those shit.
Don't forget the mandatory "It's their culture and we need to learn about it and respect it" every 5 minutes. Even when that culture is causing shit to go bad and the savior is just standing 5 feet away and could stop it all from happening.
"we need to learn about their culture" "hm their culture is different from ours. Guess it's war time"
I don't really play online games that much, and I've never played an FF online game, so I don't really have a dog in this fight, but generally speaking, one problem gamers have had at least since the gamergate days is articulating their objections to this character, or that creative choice or whatever, and the lefties tend to glom onto this autistic miscommunication to try to pick apart the arguments, shallowly making comparisons to characters/choices that fans enjoy to make their specious arguments about the 'ism' or 'phobia' they want to hide behind.
Supposedly cause the character is pushed hard and is a bit of a rey from star wars, suddenly capable of doing great things without cost
I meant this as general advice, but I appreciate you taking the time to explain it =)
Grummz isn't the best mouthpiece for criticism here.
