All I'm hearing is that women disrupting male hierarchies leads to trouble so they should stay the fuck out of them.
I can still beat you at ghost recon, and other older games like splinter cell. Even if my voice makes you think you're playing a little boy. I haven't played in a while, but I never delt with the above because at my house we played seriously. Even before cross platform my dad bought the xbox and the computer version. They weren't always the same.
My lil bro went off once because I had complained that he'd play 5 levels when I was gone, but he'd come back and I'd have played 20+ levels while he was gone 🤭. AND when my lil bro lost his eye, he had a short adjustment period before he played his usual skill level.
Some people can't play. Imagine getting your ass kicked by someone who just lost an eye. THAT was the best shit talk of all time. It wouldn't have made it these days without getting banned.
The whiners helped ruin that hobby for me, but I don't have 13+ hours to play a game like I did then either. This article may as well say. " no shit talk allowed". My son doesn't even use mics to play. His friends get online, and then join a live on another platform for chatting because the whinners ruined everything.
Duke Nukken Forever is an oldie but goodie you should try. It's just fun.
Your reading comprehension is very poor.
Your racism, and your sexism blind you to my words. I SAID THAT GAMING WAS RUINED BY THE WHINERS. Then you started whining, and we all know it's you that ruined gaming.
Confirmed subhuman
I've been asked to report you rather than...
In English please
What the fuck am I reading? Take your meds.
Coming here is more entertaining than a blunt break.
!?
Damn I feel old.
I remember when Duke Nukem Forever's development cycle began, so yeah I'm right there with you.
Still a fun game! And, you really have to be as old as we are to see how gaming has changed to pander to the woke.
I was so confused my son doesn't use a mic to play. He uses his phone on an entirely different platform so no one he doesn't authorize can hear him just so he can shit talk without someone reporting them. Being told that blew my mind.
When I play with my cousin who I'd guess is your son's age he never wants to use mic either. Perfectly fine with me and way better without an annoying headset. I never liked voice chat anyway. Probably because I'm really not any good, but I spent my time on other things most of my life and it's hard to make up for having 5% of the hours played in a competitive game. Who wants to hear some idiots bad music, obnoxious voice, and ridiculously loud background noise anyway.
That's what said way up there. Both times I was pregnant, I could spend every hour in the day playing all the games. It's not a sex thing, it's a time thing. Just like everything, the more you put time into it, the better you get.
My son said that private lobbies only helped get rid of the whinners reporting until the update that made the enemy team able to hear you. ( proximity chat). NOW son uses his phone to talk to the team while they're playing. No-one not his friend can hear him. The other team hears nothing when playing against my son and his friends. Very rarely will they allow anyone on their team that isn't in their call.
Gaming ruined gaming.
Like Discord?
Discord is so backdoored you shouldn't be using it.
Is this another attempt to manipulate men into "manning up" or whatever by pocking at their masculinity?: "If you don't simp for gamer gurls you are low value".
Reminder that the same people who support muh diversity in games are the ones pushing for dumbing down games ie. game journos.
I don't care if a gurl plays games, I care if the game has to be reworked so that the gurl who sucks at it doesn't feel bad about herself, or god forbids, has to change in order to appeal to them because they think shooty shooty is dumb and we need stronk wymen Cortana because the original makes them feel insecure about their body
Also keep in mind this is about Halo 3 multiplayer, the experience is a lot different than say, a MMORPG or a sandbox game which are more focused on cooperation
Its also different than most other online shooters.
Condemned 2 multiplayer is also an online FPS game on the same console at the same release time, but its lobbies were completely different than Halo's.
Yes
Lead guilds for 15 years and #1 source of drama and issues involves girl members. Usually girls rile everyone up and cause people to pick sides.
I used to be in a guild for Runescape, I remember my friend in our group chat on Skype brought in some e-girl he was simping after. She was super self absorbed, loud, annoying, and never contributed anything meaningful to discussions, and she was also hyper sensitive to the slightest bit of criticism or banter/teasing, which would then lead to tone policing from other simps and then tons of infighting.
Yes, exactly this. I remember my guild being sabotaged somewhat before gamergate by an aggressive feminista on a total lie that pretty much everyone believed about one of our officers. Put a bunch of words in his mouth and made up a bunch of shit about him without any proof whatsoever and everyone ate it up on the forums even though he came out with screenshots. It didn't matter to the zeitgeist.
Few months later he was vindicated when she started destroying another guild with the same routine - but another girl outed her.
Usually women 40+ playing WoW or something aren't so bad to be around though.
Maybe that's why our guild never had issues. I ran with a World vs World guild in Guild Wars 2 for years and we straight up had a doddering old grandma in our guild along with a bunch of other women and never had any guild drama. Maybe that older female presence from a less psychotic generation was a mitigating influence or something. Honestly it was kind of nice to have some of those girls in the guild just for the raid banter they added. It was a good crew and I miss running with them.
Aye, I've had similar experiences. It's pretty refreshing isn't it? Some of my fondest memories WoW center around 5-manning oldschool raids with a kindly older woman who was essentially my surrogate mom ingame. We did everything together with the usual suspects, the crew so to speak.
Never did anything impure escape that woman. Not a single swear word, no drama, nothing. She put up with my teen angst in a very understanding way which is mind boggling to me now.
Needless to say I think highly of a good handful of woman gamers I've met over the years, but they've almost always been older. They're made of better stuff.
If only they did that more often.
Did my decade of raiding and raid leading PUGs, and I can also say that every single breakup or drama either directly involved girls or guys acting on behalf of their egirls.
I run a 100 member group for a game of mine that I play, and have for 5 years. Completely anonymous so this stuff hasn't caused any issues. Plus it helps too that I have full control over the accounts in it (can delete messages and ban people for any reason) but thankfully do to the anonymous nature nothing crazy has really happened. Although I'm sure if there was voice chat I'd have to be a lot more vigilant to prevent this stuff.
Worked in government public service for over a decade. Had a case where a department I was with was headed by a male who then retired and was replaced with a female. Within six months, she had turned the department into her personal social club, everyone skilled left, and the department got sued a lot for shit she fucked up. She responded to this by... plotting against anyone who said that she fucked up.
I'd like to know their sample size, the demographic observed, how they determined "performance", and how much of the data they discarded as "outliers".

There you go.
How did they discern that the player did not just consider them to be bots or whatever, this does not sound like a human conversation.
Example of comment received and classified as positive male, Are we sure they did not run this a simulacra or something, this does not seem to be plausible interaction, not even for halo 3 pvp lobby.
Humans convey the same meaning without saying explaining 100% what they mean. “That was fun” would be the same as “I had fun in that game”. “(Username) fucking wrecked them”=“I’m proud you have the highest ranking”
Those quotes are definitely inhuman.
I'm sure they didn't.
So this is normal interaction of the halo 3 xbox community? in the age of about 2015 and earlier?
Apparently
That could be bants, given prior interaction. I could see two people riffing on each-other mock-voicing themselves in faux-posh-british. The actual study's quotes look like ChatGPT spat them out on a bad day.
I find it amusing the study uses terms feminists would call sexist. It raises an interesting point tho. Their hypothesis is that high-value males (their words) get in "attract a mate mode" and low value-men get more agressive in order for them to not lose their position in the hierarchy, the question is why low-value men are lashing out at females if they want to appeal more to them? (their own hypothesis) Their proposed solution is to teach men losing against women doesn't reduce their value, and that's easier to acomplish in a 50/50 gender ratio split.
Now for hindsight, games like Overwatch proved this wrong, imo. If you want to follow their line of thinking, my guess is just as simply as: low skilled men lashed out at perceived safe targets in high stress situations, and they were less prone to shit talk higher skilled men because, well, imagine being called out by them. You suck at the game and are trying to shift blame.
If anything, the takeaway is feminism at its core is women trying to get the perceived "alfas" to protect them from danger
This one is easy.
Women are fucking weak. They cry at the slightest threat, and their bodies are made to be tossed around. "Low-value" is a social standing, artificial. At any moment those labeled "low-value" males could simply stop playing by the rules and physically remind the women that they are weak and much "lower" on the totem pole than even the most pathetic male. But because its in a video game they can't actually physically do that, so they verbally shit out impotent anger and threats.
Its basic return to monke shit. You tear down the person who thinks themselves above you in the hierarchy because you know you can while not even bothering against the ones you know you can't, whereas the person secure in their standing has no reason to even care.
Given the smoothness of their correlations, they very likely made the whole thing up.
Extremely capable men carry females to get laid.
The average man can’t afford to have dead weight dragging him down.
Throw into this, that smurfing was incredibly prevalent in Halo 3. If someone was lvl 20 they were as likely to be a brand new account as they were to smoke everyone on the server without trying. As soon as you cracked into the 20s and higher, you couldn't avoid this experience of artificially low-skill-rank accounts piloted by literal terminators.
The smurfs were extremely toxic as a rule, because they only existed to maintain their rank with equal wins and losses so they could continue to beat up on players worse than them. They had to let you know they were better by pulling psychic shenanigans only someone with 1000s of hours would be able to do reliably before putting down the controller to let you catch up and beat them. Their intentional losses were where they'd shit talk the most because they had to make DAMN sure you didn't think they couldn't beat you.
A special kind of egomaniac was born in that environment, and it did the most to kill that game. I have a strong feeling that was not in this study's accounting.
Well of course not. That would require context and knowledge of gaming and its social environments.
Studies like this are on "gamers" and the games are all interchangeable and applicable for any other game, because they are just a meaningless bloc of people to be studied instead of a diverse set of infinite niche groups playing specific games.
Ranked isn't even fun, just stressful and makes unfair/unintended strategies very powerful that ruin games. We need to go back to just having the K/D ratio be the main thing.
I would love to see a study that did.
Trash talking has been around since the beginning of competitive gaming, and it suddenly became a social injustice when it happened to women. Ironically, by trying to neuter the communities to accommodate women just creates more resentment towards them.
Study: Low skill gamers - who treat women worse than men - are misogynists.
Why not Study: High skill gamers - who treat women better than men - are misandrists.
I don't need to hear that you are in twitch or some shit, shoot the enemy you idiot.
I really don't give a damn what your sex is, if you suck I will call you out.
I see a slight bit of truth to this in that a more skilled player can carry their team regardless and is usually very casual in their thinking since they don't really have to worry about rank, since they've most likely accomplished everything there is to accomplish.
Lower skilled players are absorbed and tunnelled into what they're doing and zero in on disruptive factors, and will likely blame the lowest in the leaderboard for their loss. They lose progress and pattern recognition suggests that girls usually suck and usually result in time wasted.
Imagine at the end of the game you have yet another wasted match with some tool with a 2-15 K/D most of which being suicides and they have the absolute nerve to hop on mic and go "teeheehee".
Some girls are decent, they are usually quiet.
They still trying to push this? With a 2015 study no less. I rarely hear voice in the games I play and 9/10 I hear stuff it's someone playing obnoxiously loud music so I mute them. If a higher pitch voice does come through, first thing is:
Determine if they are a squeaker (underage) if so mute immediately and don't interact
If female, whatever unless they try to PUSH they are female so you should help them (so mute and block if required)
Gamers generally don't give a fuck and in team competitive games it doesn't matter about gender, race or religion we'll roast the fuck out of you if you suck so bad that it looks like your trolling or intentionally feeding.
They have the narrative in their head that gaming is a hostile community against women, and they have to work backwards from there to rationalize it with whatever scraps they can find.
From my personal experiences with online gaming, I always just chalked up trash talk/hostile behavior with immaturity since I only ever saw it come from younger people (mostly pre teens to early college aged kids).
Leave game lobbies containing a female, find male lobby. Problem solved.
But seriously, in my experience, people who are both shit at the game and insecure about are the ones who lose their shit the hardest when they get owned. Losing to a guuuuuuuurl isn't going to make them less unhinged. These idiots had to do a study to figure out sore losers are sore losers.
None of that is even connected to GamerGate issues with feminists pressuring games into being shitty diversity wank fests though.
I actually don't even buy that submissive part lmao
how do you study a myth?
Which one? Odin, Zuess, or Political Science?
By looking at all the youth today, and seeing that it's not a sex issue. It's an issue with whinny people that believe in gender.
I mean, I don't think it's necessarily wrong. The few (emphasis on few) people who do decide to be obnoxious because there happens to be a girl playing are usually pretty trashy, bad at the game, and rage quit if they get killed 3 times in a row.
Based off the summary, there's a massive confounding variable not controlled for. Console matchmaking is indicative of perceived anonymity and mob mentality. Since you can't track players across changing lobbies and measure general shit-talk, this study tells us nothing about the various types of misogyny and potential implications. Further evidence that expanded federal funding of research and education since the 1950s is shit policy.
Ah yes, "evolutionary psychology". The favorite field of behavioral determinists who observe some behavior in extant society, and instead of simply saying "this is how people are behaving, interesting, huh" they invoke a non-falsifiable hypothesis based on a pop-culture understanding of evolution to argue that such behavior is "in-built" in humans to fit their preferred political agendas. ("this is how people are behaving, and see I can come up with a theory that sounds convincing so that I can tell everyone this is how people are meant to behave).
