I think part of it is it's antithetical to their view of men as emotionally inferior when they can have close friendships without the drama and backstabbing of female friendships.
Rowling is no darling crusader fighting against woke. She is extremely woke, but draws the line when the wokeness impacts her gender's spaces (perfectly fine for women to invade and subvert male spaces of course)
It was convenient that they used an alternate universe version of Garak and Bashir (now thay I think about it, wasn't it an EMH hologram based on Bashir, not the real dude). But yeah, I never considered Lower Decks canon, I don't care what the faggots who run the Memory Alpha wiki say.
Which is always how it starts. Green Lantern Alan Scott was made gay, but only an AU version of him. Until it was also the prime version of him. It's a wedge and the tip of the spear is always aimed off center so the complaints are minimal and dismissed as being less important.
Can't have two men be friends. Can't have a straight man and a straight man be friends. Can't even a gay man and a straight man, or even a gay man and another gay man be friends. Everything has to be sexual.
It's also propaganda to convince men to be loners and not have male friends. Family, friendship, and community are bulwarks against corruption and degeneracy, as well as the original safety nets for when we fall on hard times or need help, and the original policing and protection mechanism for people, as we seek the people we're closest to when we're in danger, and those are the people who will drop everything and come to our aid.
This propaganda weakens men in every way, making us easier to control.
Faggotry is a poison pill to the kind of natural male fraternity you'd find in a Roman Legion or order of Crusader knights. Because such a group would've done something about those pushing aforementioned faggotry by now.
I just assume this is tied to the hyper obsession to inject lgbt into everything or find “gay coding” in classic literature. These people can’t just enjoy a show
Neither of them were canon gay but the degenerate actor who played Garak did always say he tried to play up Garak's attraction to Bashir because he wanted him to be gay or bisexual.
You mean like how the Wachowski brothers said The Matrix was always an allegory for being a tranny even though it obviously wasn't? Hollywood golems will say whatever they're told to say.
No it's definitely real. Garak comes off like a genuine sexual predator in his first few appearances. He was actually trying to play him as a flaming homo, which he evidently saw as monsters, and he still thought it was a good thing.
Yeah, the actor who plays Garak says on several occasions that he played the character as having an attraction to Bashir. So the people getting gay vibes aren’t off base.
I never saw it but growing up I rarely saw anything gay related and my only exposure to lgbt was knowing it existed. Personally never saw them as anything but friends. Haven’t heard his interviews like you have but no surprise he would say this.
I saw his relationship with Bashir as entirely non-sexual, but assumed Garak himself had grown to position himself as sexually ambiguous for espionage reasons. I don't think Garak would have had a sexual relationship with a non Cardassian of either gender.
Perhaps but it's ultimately up to the writers to dictate what is canon or more specifically, it's up to whoever is paying the writers. Not the actors and actresses so his opinion as an actor means nothing. Like you pointed out, his opinion should be taken with less than a grain of salt.
I mostly agree, but I enjoyed Terminator 3. "Judgement Day is inevitable. Stop being little faggots and make a family! Ignore the fake boobs on the robo slut she is trying to kill you!" Very based message.
T3 and even Salvation are fine, canonwise. You can nitpick about certain things and you'll be right, but they at least TRIED to respect the overall story and themes. Salvation, while flawed, finally gave us a full story within the post judgment day future.
Anything after that I don't consider canon at all. They had to destroy entire movies worth of timeline just so they can have their grrlboss say "come with me if you wanna live"
The way I see it is that because both the resistance and skynet are constantly fucking with the timeline, each film exists within its own little continuity bubble, and the next film is free to ignore parts of the previous films.
We can all laugh at this, but the reality is that building and maintaining a social circle isn't as easy as it once was. It requires genuine effort and a little bit of luck these days, and if it ever slips away entirely one can be effectively crippled. The fact that society is in such a shape where this can be a regular occurrence rather than a wild and unheard of aberration is frankly horrific.
I recognized this phenomenon years ago and now make a conscious effort within my own sphere to try and drag people out of their houses to come be sociable with a group of other people in the hopes that we can all build and maintain some of those social bonds that are so important and increasingly hard to find.
It really does bother me, how quickly people these days accept retcons and new media that doesn't line up with old stories. If you don't care about consistency, then why care about anything?
It's just female fantasy being mistaken for reality. Women find gay men to be amusing like clowns so they want to see a faggot inside every man, just waiting to come out. In reality, a lot of straight men can become good friends. Men evolved to be social creatures who are capable of forming warbands. And hunting parties. It's called simply not being antisocial.
I have flat out hugged and gave a buddy a kiss on the forehead when he broke down after his dad died. Men can be emotional. We just dont do it publicly or for no silly reason.
It's not just porn addicts. It's mostly women. Look at Rowling. She made Dumbledore gay cause men can't have close friendships with other men.
I think part of it is it's antithetical to their view of men as emotionally inferior when they can have close friendships without the drama and backstabbing of female friendships.
Which ironically made him look like a huge groomer.

Women are so unfamiliar with the concept of friendship they invented the term "bromance" to describe it.
She made Dumbledore gay because she was the 1990s equivalent of woke.

Did they make alternate universe Garak and Bashir gay together or something on lower decks?
As mentioned in the other reply, yes they did.
Which is always how it starts. Green Lantern Alan Scott was made gay, but only an AU version of him. Until it was also the prime version of him. It's a wedge and the tip of the spear is always aimed off center so the complaints are minimal and dismissed as being less important.
Yes, yes they did.
They love ruining our memories.

He said that in retrospect. There's nothing contemporary that indicates that's what he was doing.
It's most notable in the pilot after which he was told to tone it down.

Julian and Miles were the gay ones. Garak was banging Dukat's daughter.
But for real Garak loved messing with Bashir because he was bored and needed someone to tell all his spy stories to.
Andrew Robinson is a shitlib who goes along with it. Talks about how he played Garak in a way where he "might be" in love with Bashir.

At this point in my life, I believe that it's wrong to care about a franchise to the point of discussing what is or isn't cannon.
Yeah, fictional canons are silly. Just watch/read/play the good stuff and disregard all the garbage.
Well, how do you feel about The Legend of Zelda timeline?
There are only three entries: A Link to the Past The Legend of Zelda Link's Adventure
and the inclusion and chronology of A Link to the Past is up for debate.
Everything else is fanfiction.
One, why those three?
Two, that's dumb. Each game is its own thing. There is no "timeline."
If anything, Breath of the Wild was an attempt to fix that, saying that all three possibilities eventually end up there, but whatever.
Faggots have to push their perversion into everything. Because they have nothing else going on.

All Star Wars without Lucas's input is not cannon. The christmas special is cannon.
