Could it be, now hear me out, it's not your ideological enemy, you just made a shit film because you're a shit director HEAVILY relying on improv from E list 'comedians' and was more focused on making the main guy of the cast look dumb as possible and having a dance number?
In the original, Egon had a standard dark brown jew fro, but in the cartoon Egon had a blonde curled pompadour. The 2016 movie, the 'Egon' character had blonde hair with a curled fringe.
I'm sorry Feig, but I thought this film wasn't for us? I thought that this was for the modern audience? How can it be the fault of people who aren't your audience?
These people love to blame everyone else for their own failure. And it's funny because anyone with any talent can recover from a bad original screening. The Thing, The Shining and Blade Runner are all examples of films that flopped in the box office but recovered after the fact. 2016 GB has never and will never recover. It's a bad movie.
And the fact Feig can't let it go only strengthens the idea that it was meant to be a statement. So when he says:
“It turned the movie into a political statement, as if to say: ‘If you’re pro-women, you’re going to go see this. If you’re not, then …’ I didn’t think it mattered at all that the main characters were women, but people brought a lot of baggage.”
his implication that this film isn't a statement just can't be taken seriously. Because it's clear that it was very much a statement since it still needs to be defended instead of just accepted as a loss.
We had another clear example of this with that statement the Ubisoft frog put out the other day saying, “we don’t push political agendas” after a decade of lacklustre DEI propaganda and one of his company’s minions literally being a Sweet Baby Inc founder.
The narcissism with these people is always off the charts.
pfft good luck with that. any shareholders who aren't already convinced it was just misogynistic trolls on the internet who killed the film aren't gonna fall for this angle...
Ubisoft says that everytime one of their games gets slightly controversial in the mainstream. Almost verbatim said the same thing with Far Cry 5 and The Division.
And those prior times, heck even this one, they end up so clumsy with their attempt at being Woke that it almost seems believable in a way that they are just that retarded.
It could just be embezzling and money laundering too. Makings movies is not always about making a statement, or even about money. Like Sony spiderman. Probably loads others. Reviving franchises can't really make comebacks later on because by then a new regurgitation is 'peoduced' and consumed by specific audiences, like u said.
And if it's not for money, then it's for power. In this case though influence in the target audience. Ya, it's not for us. Obviously. It's for someone. Not money either.
okay, full disclosure; the failbusters was for me what gamergate was for most of you; a massive redpill moment that sort of avalanched over the next six months to a year.
Lemme try to summarize the timeline (i'll try to put the month/year when I remember it):
2009 the ghostbuster's video game comes out. it's basically the script for ghostbusters 3, and it has most of the original cast involved. it has a plot that's a bit sequelly, but it feels like a ghostbusters story (basically, it's a third person shooter with some ghostbusters gimmicks and the hud built into the back of the proton pack, actually a really clever concept the more I think about it). Dan Akroyd/Harold Ramis talks about how they wanted to make a new movie, but this was basically the third film, so they're happy. on a personal note, this makes me excited for the possibility of a third film, but things die down, and we don't hear anything for almost a decade.
the Exec in charge of Sony at the time, I forget her name, but she goes to feig to make an all female remake.
Paul turns her down twice, but she persists, and basically he says he'll only do it if he has complete control of the project, which ivan reitman basically has full veto power over. She gets reitman to give up control, and feig makes his version of the film.
a couple of teaser pics come out in Nov/Dec. of 2015, and there's some hints of what's to come, but it goes over the heads of me and (I assume) a lot of other people who were hoping for an actual ghostbusters 3.
the first trailer hits in Jan/Feb of 2016, and it's utterly raped online, going on to be one of the most downvoted videos on youtube of all time. (I personally was livid). There's no real clarity over whether it's a remake or a reboot, they (indirectly) call winson zeddemore a scientist, even though he's the everyman, and there's a cover of the original theme by a group that hasn't been popular since the late nineties (I think they were a bit niche even then, but this is more or less off the top of my head, so yeah).
spculatively related, but Deadpool drops in Feb 2016 and absolutely crushes it at the box office, in spite of no faith in the project at Fox.
I'm sure gamergate veterans can guess the next part; the new 'ghostbusters' actors and the director basically blame it all on the usual suspects; misogyny, losers in their moma's basement, you know the song and dance, and sony starts deleting any comments on the trailer that don't fit that narrative, these then make it into the trailer of the movie, with the actors playing the "ghostbusters" live reacting in character. The gaslight is on meanwhile, they scramble to get as many actors as they can from the original movie to recut some scenes for cameos as damage control.
the second trailer drops, and sony sprinkles it across multiple youtube channels that they own to try to dilute the downvoting and make it look like the film isn't as hated as it actually is, "correcting" the "four scientists" to "four friends," still implying winston was a member of the original crew, but not that he was a scientist. Again, no clarity over whether this is a reboot or a remake. (by this time, I'm praying for the film to bomb). Sony is using every trick they can to get people to go watch this trainwreck, free tickets, ecto cooler, whatever gets butts in seats.
James Rolfe, aka the Angry Video Game Nerd, puts out a video explaining why he wont be going to see or reviewing the film, titled "no review, I refuse." He's honestly a hell of a lot more fair about it than I would have been, but he catches the damage control hate maelstrom all the same. He ignores it and continues to make his own projects, gaining at least one more fan in the process (me).
The film drops in june/july 2016 and barely makes its money back domestically. I don't remember what the overseas returns were, but apparently they weren't the fantastic numbers they were hoping for, because it basically kills any hope of reviving the franchise for a few years.
Somewhere in the middle of all this, Sony has a huge cybersecurity breach, taken credit for by people claming to be N Koreans, angry over the portrayal of Kim Jung Un in The interview, and a lot of the backstory comes to light.
Apparently Trump called out the film at some point. I honestly don't remember as I was barely paying attention to politics at the time (bernie bro back then, let the hate fly, lol), but that's what Feig's trying to blame it on.
some of that might have been out of order, but yeah.
Feig didn't even want to make the damn film, now he's trying to blame it on trump. No Paul, you ate a bran muffin, washed it down with a prune smoothie, then you dropped your drawers and took a massive diarhea cascade on top of a beloved franchise. That backfired, and now you're trying to revive your career by jumping on the trump hate bandwagon. Sit your ass down.
He could have just kept his mouth shut and nobody would have even remembered him. Instead he chose to remind everyone he exists and is a retarded crybaby.
He isn't even gay. He was just picked on so much that any reference to "locker rooms" or masculinity makes him tremble in fear. He talked about it in some article about his reaction to "grab em by the pussy is just locker room talk" thing
The cartoon was better, by the way. Take your pick whether it was Ghostbusters with the gorilla by Filmation, or The Real Ghostbusters that took after the first two films.
It was a truly horrible film my god where do I start? Everything was cringe about it none of the girls were Sexy or even likeable aside from maybe Kirsten Wiig's Dr. Erin character
After a few drinks maybe Her tomboy character was semi likeable but Melissa Mcarthy and the Black chick were bad characters and horrible picks all around
He turned The Hangover on its head with Bridesmaids, hats off and dicks out.
A one-trick pony.
Was it Trump and Trump supporters that stripped away all of his intimate involvement with that cartoon bull movie immediately before it was released?
I actually thought Leslie Jones was the best woman in the movie and she got the racist pay check which was much shorter than any of her peers on the movie.
I guess he wants to make himself relevant again and guy more socks for his hopeful dream of Spy 2 becoming a reality.
The best thing Paul Feig ever did was being a side character Eugene Pool in Sabrina the teen-age Witch Tv show Imho Here's his Wiki https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Feig
Can't blame people for not going to watch a film that was unfunny and poorly executed to the point that no one wanted to see it. That's your fault, it's not even the actors fault (usually, as a generalization, these actors may have actually just been that bad but again that's not their fault it's the directors fault for allowing the casting manager to cast them in the first place), it's entirely your fault as director for creating trash.
Of course it had nothing to do with making a reboot nobody asked for. Honestly should’ve just done a movie where the original ghostbusters train a new group.
I believe it was Paul himself who was boasting that the film was a runaway hit that was on Sony's top grossing films of all time list. When people looked to confirm this, it was NUMBER 91 right behind Green Hornet and Ghost Rider and only 10 spots behind the RoboCop reboot.
I remember Leslie losing her shit on twitter as she ran her mouth and people posted harambe memes at her.
Dicks out!
What probably stings most for her is that Harambe gets infinitely more dicks out than she ever will.
And then the universe punished us for paying attention to her by making that time totally coincidentally be when her nudes were leaked.
Omg nudes?
I must have blanked out that memory like a major trauma.
She was just jealous
Could it be, now hear me out, it's not your ideological enemy, you just made a shit film because you're a shit director HEAVILY relying on improv from E list 'comedians' and was more focused on making the main guy of the cast look dumb as possible and having a dance number?
No, no, I'm willing to take credit, because it's hilarious.
I DID THIS. I killed female Ghostbusters, it was me! And Trump, he helped. We even coordinated, it was a total conspiracy.
You lie.
You don't mention Russia's role.
I mean...I figured that went without saying!
How did the chuds get so powerful??
Was this at the patriarchy meeting in 2015?
It was a petty feminist parody of the original. The original adult caricatures became cartoon caricatures infused with feminist rot.
It does make a lot more sense that it was a genderbent version of the first cartoon series rather than the movies.
That wasn't my suggestion but that could be plausible as well. They seem like the type that would go that route.
In the original, Egon had a standard dark brown jew fro, but in the cartoon Egon had a blonde curled pompadour. The 2016 movie, the 'Egon' character had blonde hair with a curled fringe.
Don't forget doing the "loud black funny chick" stereotype. The fuckers can't even follow their own rules. That's some old 90s comedy shit also
Paul Fag doesn't make movies people want to watch.
I'm sorry Feig, but I thought this film wasn't for us? I thought that this was for the modern audience? How can it be the fault of people who aren't your audience?

Kinda makes you wonder who they're trying to convince; themselves, or the general populace.
They’re trying to convince the shareholders.
pfft good luck with that. any shareholders who aren't already convinced it was just misogynistic trolls on the internet who killed the film aren't gonna fall for this angle...
They genuinely think they're not being political. They're just "being good people."
"Blame everyone else for their own failure."
Those were my watchwords as a teens/20s liberal. That's a big reason I loved progressivism without even recognizing it.
It could just be embezzling and money laundering too. Makings movies is not always about making a statement, or even about money. Like Sony spiderman. Probably loads others. Paul Fag is right. Normal people don’t want to watch his trash.
Damn you DRUMPF, why did you make my film suck?
It's 2016 again lmao
R E T V R N
...you're shitting me...🤣

Amy Pascal
thank you, lol
What the queef jokes didn't land with the modern audience?
He could have just kept his mouth shut and nobody would have even remembered him. Instead he chose to remind everyone he exists and is a retarded crybaby.
Has he tried not being shit? 🤔
Lol the fucking fag.
He isn't even gay. He was just picked on so much that any reference to "locker rooms" or masculinity makes him tremble in fear. He talked about it in some article about his reaction to "grab em by the pussy is just locker room talk" thing
Lol what, he's not gay? I always assumed he was. Not even trying to be insulting. He just presents himself as a slightly effeminate homosexual male.
"This was everyone's fault but mine."
The cartoon was better, by the way. Take your pick whether it was Ghostbusters with the gorilla by Filmation, or The Real Ghostbusters that took after the first two films.
Goes Dumpsters 2016 somehow managed to age poorly despite starting dead and rotten.
It was a truly horrible film my god where do I start? Everything was cringe about it none of the girls were Sexy or even likeable aside from maybe Kirsten Wiig's Dr. Erin character
I've always found Kate McKinnon attractive.
She was comparatively attractive because SNL wouldn’t let a conventionally attractive woman on the cast.
After a few drinks maybe Her tomboy character was semi likeable but Melissa Mcarthy and the Black chick were bad characters and horrible picks all around
She is attractive enough, but I think in that movie they made sure to give her lesbian sexually aggressive energy to offset it.
Like, an attractive woman licking a gun should be hot. But instead its just uncomfortable and wierd in that movie.
But not in Ghostbusters.
Her Verizon ads made me want to claw my eyes out.
Hollywood: "We're going to make a new Ghostbusters movie."
The Public: "Please don't. The original cast and Harold Ramis' writing is what made those movies special. This movie will suck without them."
Hollywood: "We're making the cast all female."
The Public: "We never asked for this and don't want it."
Hollywood: "Your sexist."
The Public: "WTF?"
He turned The Hangover on its head with Bridesmaids, hats off and dicks out.
A one-trick pony.

When you find out that Melissa McCarthy made $14 million vs Leslie Jones’s $150k lol
How could there not be uncomfortable tension on a set like that?
But clearly we're all women hating racists for not liking a creative output that was specifically manufactured for us not to like??!!!?
The best thing Paul Feig ever did was being a side character Eugene Pool in Sabrina the teen-age Witch Tv show Imho Here's his Wiki https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Feig
They gender swap iconic and hugely popular movies.. immediately fails. Hmm. Remember that all female oceans 11? Lawl.
Can't blame people for not going to watch a film that was unfunny and poorly executed to the point that no one wanted to see it.
