A while ago I would have agreed...and still do, but with some caveats. Firstly, all modern economies are lies. All major countries use fiat currency, which is inherently manipulated. USA is the petrodollar...which has an will continue to accrue losses as more and more people bail out.
Trade is the real currency, and you can see from that map that China is actually overtaking the USA. So, yes, China's currency is fake and gay...but so is ours...and now we're losing our backing on much of that. For all I know, China now has a more stable currency (again, even though it's totally fake) than the USA.
Yeah, military is about the only thing the USA has going for it, but even that has been slipping massively. We may even still have Chinese drones and other tech in our fleets, too. Our training is some of the best in the world (because we keep fighting everyone), but I think much of our equipment is nowhere near as competent as we've been led to believe.

This goes against the zeitgiest here, but I think it's one of the few good things in this era. This isn't a map of control, it's a map of giving the fruits of your nation away to others, or the map of importing foreign shit into your country.
Most of the US's trade in 2000 is offshoring and sending our wealth to foreign counties for cheap shit. Giving all our stuff away is how we got into a bad state here. By 2020, we already started seeing a return to onshoring. The US is currently the country with the lowest percent of their GDP in exports, not counting countries like Ethiopia who simply cannot have trade. We now have more domestic production and make more things in America, and we give less to other countries. This is good, IMO.
The Chinese work hard, extract wealth from their country, then send it to other countries so they can get fake and gay numbers on a bank account balance. That's retarded. It can buy you soft power, but we're rapidly realizing that isn't real. Physical objects and resources and production facilities are valuable, but promises of fiat are not. As Russia in 2022 proved, all of your assets in clown world can evaporate overnight. And as 2020 proved, those trade links to other countries are liabilities, not assets.
I'm not sure if you've been to other countries, but other countries are not self sufficient. There's way more 'Made in America' in America, than there is 'Made in <country>' in any foreign country. China produces stuff for much cheaper than the USA could.
China has access to plenty of high-demand minerals both domestically and through agreements with other countries ( especially in Africa ).
Lower labour costs, more workers, less civil unrest, no blacks and browns ( the % potential pool of actual worker is higher ), copying other's tech and software, less knee-caping regulations, less environmental protection, etc.
They are also alot more willing to cut corners on quality and then adjust based on feedback / recalls / fines with the least costly fix. For all the bad things comming out of this, some pretty efficient manufacturing comes out of that too.
Would you buy a $5 cable with a 0.5% rate of defect, or a few $0.5 cables with a 2% rate of defect? They will do exactly the same thing if your cable isn't a faulty one.
