I think the lesson from the last decade of entertainment is clearly that everything doesn’t have to include everything. The obsession with putting black ppl into everything has ruined period pieces which is something I love. Also I loved pre diversity obsession bbc and I can’t watch it anymore (still watch the old stuff of course). Problem is the obsession with black/female/lgbt has killed a lot of interest. White people just like everyone else will watch something that is good. In the 80s, the Cosby Show was on of the top shows. I knew plenty of white people who enjoyed Sanford and Son, Jeffersons, Fresh Prince, Benson, etc.
If a gaming company had the guts to do it I’d love to see a game where you are a slave in one of the biggest slave trading African Kingdoms and you have to try to take them down

If a time traveler ever achieves that change in history I would fade out of the photo like back to the future, but that is one of the alternate history stories I'd love to read. So many have been done regarding what if the south won, but I'd love to see someone tackle what if they abolished slavery as part of the constitution or what if British had won the revolutionary war. There are some other ones, but I'd definitely love to see that parallel U.S.

I’m black and I loved watching Kung Fu stuff on Saturday mornings and to this day I’ll drop everything to watch a Bruce Lee movie. I got into the dynasty warriors series and it made me research more on ancient China and watched Crouching Tiger Hidden and absolutely loved it. All this to say if it’s good I’ll watch. I’ve never cared about “being represented”

Valhalla insulted me, annoyed me and wasted my time enough that I didn’t bother finishing it, nor picking up Mirage. Far Cry 6 was clearly going to be woke commie garbage, so I avoided that one too. Now they’re offering me nigger buttfucking in feudal Japan and Ma’am Solo (which basically appears to be Skull and Bones with a space reskin).
Proud to say I haven’t given this company a dime in almost 5 years now (like many of us). When Larry Fink’s cheques eventually stop clearing, they’re going to be in a world of trouble.
Did not even bother with Valhalla, even though the viking setting sounded cool.
The setting was undoubtedly cool. First few hours of the game in Norway are actually very enjoyable.
Then you hit England and it’s basically “enter a territory, befriend the king/lord, help them fight some bad guys, get a little Raven statue on your England map” about 20 times. Repetitive copy/paste laziness from the devs.
And of course, endless moments of cringey current day peppered throughout, thanks to the sweet babies. I kept hearing myself muttering, “fuck you, game…”
After a while I was just like, “what the hell are you doing with your life 😒” and quit out of apathy.
I haven’t played most of their games in years because they’re all kind of the same. Gay black samurai in feudal Japan doesn’t help, but they were already just rehashes of the same thing filled with stupid fetch quests. Assassin’s Creed was pretty cool. Then they made a million of them with minor differences.
It’ll be an 80 hour game where 60 hours of it was you going around collecting pens and feathers and assorted bullshit. Not what I’m particularly interested in when it’s a game themed after assassins or shooting or something.
Valhalla was so bad looking that even as someone who put 100hours into 100%ing Odyssey right before it came out it couldn't interest me.
Like they had stumbled into a great "turn off your brain, do some mindless but fun enough tasks" system. And they couldn't keep it going into a second game with an even more fitting setting for it.

It's no secret that Disney will hire teams that have zero talent but are comprised of nothing but PoC activists and LGBT poison pushers, then when that team churns out a shit product they'll blame it on consumers for "giving into hate."
Ubisoft has gone a step further by building all of the gay and racebait directly into their game, readily expecting it to shield the product itself from scrutiny and criticism because it's so blatant and obviously tone deaf it appears to be a trap.
I mean are people surprised? The last couple of games had gay options and I'm pretty certain the animus user, herself was dyking it up. Gay people are disproportionatly represented in settings that weren't accepting of homos.

And for pointing out they are disproportionately represented you will get the "you are such a snowflake because you see a gay person". Same thing when a show that takes place in 1000ad England has a bunch of black people, or when you roll your eyes at the latest gender swapped girl power show.

As someone who has never played an Assassin's Creed game in my life:
Why does Assassin's Creed have romances at all? I thought it was a game about sneaking up and stabbing people.
Around the time of Origins it reinvented itself as an open world action game, with stealth being basically just one of the gameplay styles you could use. Considering the franchise had basically been dying since 2 (with Black Flag being an exception for succeeding at being a different type of game), it was basically a necessity.
But if its anything like the other games the "romance" will be a random NPC in a single quest that gives you the option for reject/accept a flirt for a PG13 after and then no real consequence to that action after.
In these games yes, because they are literally nothing. Something a guy probably slapped together in a weekend for a cheap checkbox check. It has no deeper value and never matters.
Its not even a purely gay problem. Sleeping Dogs is a famously beloved game that basically shoved in a bunch of empty romance quests that immediately disappeared after it was done.
This game it is not. Games in this genre live and breathe off their romance lines. Its basically 95% of the replayability for them once the hype passes. Mass Effect is the most famous example where people decide who they romance as they make their character.
While some of them are made to be clickbait-y, I can say the product feels like the "game" portion is just dressing for reaching the "dating sim" portion. Which is an industry wide thing, as games like Persona can attest.
