I have just started Nightmare of Decay, a retro looking FPS with scarce resources. As someone who had quite a bit of fun with old school shooters, this promises to be quite a lot of fun. Just before that I have played Forgive Me Father, another old school shooter with an interesting aesthetic, this time of the Lovecraftian flavour. Not sure what I will play next, but probably something other, than shooter.

Valheim. I played it in a creative capacity over a year ago before setting it aside, but recently I got a friend into it and they are absolutely hooked. Now we play to get through all the content; and now I build structures for function instead of decorum.
On occasion I'll also play on a TF2 2fort 64-player community server to unwind. So much chaos, so much trash talking that would get people banned in other games...good times.
To me, multiplayer is where Valheim really shines. I tried it single player at first and didn't like it.
When I tried it again with friends I got totally hooked.
Up to you of course but I strongly recommend some QoL mods for Valheim, as well as additional equipment options. I'm not big on adding too much immersion breaking mods, but I really enjoy additional building options and having a variety of weapons on hand.
I like how retarded everyone is in TF2 2forts. 90% of players aren't trying or they're just fucking around. I love it.
Ive been playing Kingdom Come. I played it around when it came out in 2018 but hadn't picked it up since, fantastic game.
Same deal here. Game didn't click when I got it but now I'm having a good time. Just hoping I can finish it before I decide I want to play something else in my backlog.
I was in the same boat. It was pretty buggy at first and I was terrible at combat. Once it was patched and I learned to be patient/trained more I really got into it.
Its a really wholesome game, but the combat is definitely not designed for multiple foes at the same time
Hopefully WH has remedied that in the sequel
I was all high and mighty and then got absolutely worked by a few peasants with polearms yesterday. One thing that helps is the headcracker perk and using a mace when you're fighting armored guys.
Yeah untrained peasants unironically make a bigger threat than veteran cuman soldiers, esp since the peasants just rush you and since its early game you can't just talk your way out of the encounter
But late game you kill everything in one hit (Herod's sword or the ravenbeak) so the difficulty spike is like in the gothic series
Thankfully you can cheese everything with a bow
Actually went back to playing Fallout 4, not for the story as it's one of the weakest, I just got inspired in building settlements, tearing down the warehouses I did and making actual fortresses and post apocalyptic towns in some of the larger ones.
I might get back into playing Witcher 3 with them releasing basically the dev kit for the game as the mods might go hard with that.
I know I need to get new games but still playing modded Skyrim but downloaded oblivion. Also playing Sword Art Online, Sims 4, and recently started Baldurs Gate 3. Maybe in a few months I’ll revisit the Sierra games from my childhood
Talking about old Sierra games, I recently played Lord of the Realms II (Steam's version).
It was definitely a blast, and it was pretty cool to actually play the game with all the update patches and expansions that I never had back in the day.
I’ll have to check it out
I've been meaning to mod oblivion and morrowind. I miss playing them but need a little bit more upgraded UI and graphics.
I finally started bg3 myself, been enjoying it for the most part, definitely noticing that I can't even be kind to the male characters in my party or they will try to have sex with me. Outside of that and now that I'm only kind to the women for any social situations, the combat and battles have been quite fun.
I haven’t got that far but I’m liking it too. Love the dice rolling
Lots of fun stuff with that, rolling for silly things, serious things, interesting things, background rolls for perception and survival as you walk around, arcana/history/religious checks mid-conversation that can open up new dialogue, I really enjoy the way they have set it up.
I seriously hope you're talking Fatal Bullet here, that's basically the only SAO franchise game to have a positive reception.
I didn’t know there were others. Saw it for like 5 bucks in the used section
Truthfully, the only other SAO game I've played is Hollow Fragment, which I'm pretty sure is the start of the alternate timeline the games run on. Honestly, it wasn't that good as a game, and I think most of the later games used similar, if slightly refined, playstyle systems.
Fatal Bullet was something entirely different though, being a TPS using the Gun Gale Online setting. It wasn't the best, but it did what it needed to, and was entertaining.
I picked up Noita again. That is probably my desert island game.
I do run a coupe of QOL mods to increase the fun factor but so far haven't even come close to winning on Nightmare.
I’ve bounced off Noita twice now. Guess I should keep trying lol
install the mod that lets you modify wands everywhere and the game gets much more fun
I did beat the game on normal difficulty legit but having a couple of QOL mods on nightmare and it becomes an infinite timewaster for me.
Got all of the Command & Conquer games on a Steam sale for $30. First time I've played the OG Red Alert in probably 20 years.
Recently started in on Ghost of Tsushima and have been having a blast. It is amazing what happens when people actually stick to the vision they had of a game and seeks to have both good gameplay and story.
Other than that, I have mostly been hopping around between a railroad management sim called Railroader (set on a short line in the Carolina's/Tennessee in the transition between diesel and steam era) which will probably eat all of my railroad itch until the seemingly better Century of Steam drops. For more chill games, I have been playing Victoria 3 and continue to have an absolute blast. And am looking forward to the update dropping next week.
Starsector, Tails of Iron, Age of Wonders 4 for single player. Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers for multiplayer games.
And for tabletop I've been running a game of Ascendant, a superhero game from the makers of ACKS, and a system I highly recommend to anyone interested in a superhero game.
Hey hey, people... I really wish I could get into Starsector more. I've played the first 2-4 hours of a playthru probably about 4 times over the years. It's just never stuck.
Rock and Stone brother.
Nioh 2. It's the most satisfying combat in any game I've ever played ever. The deep combat mechanics, the numerous armor sets, and the (optional) crafting system can comfortably accommodate a wide variety of playstyles. Highly recommended.
I still need to finish this.
Do it! I recently picked it back up after a year-long break. It can be intimidating jumping back into a game with lots of game mechanics to relearn, but it was easier than it sounds.
To be honest, nothing. I uninstalled blizzard launcher and associated games, and feel pretty good about that.
I saw Animal Well, which is right up my alley. I might buy that some time soon. I only wish "videogame dunkey" wasn't getting money from being the publisher.
Rogue Trader for the millionth time.
Getting a character ready for the Elder Ring DLC
And some Star Citizen every time I get a desire for some space stuff.
Though I have other stuff installed if I want to change genres those are the current thing.
Though I'm shifting a lot more time to writing background lore for a universe to set stories in.
How playable is SC these days, in terms of performance and gameplay? By gameplay I mean activities beyond combat, mining, and package delivery.
I stopped right after they added the floating city on Crusader, and while you could see development ramp up it was still a mess in terms of optimizations. Lots of error 30000s. There was still only the Stanton system. I'm not playing again until after alpha and they can guarantee they won't wipe credits.
I have good performance but I have a PC purposely built for it. It keeps getting better but still far from release performance. Servers are still the main issue to performance though they had a test recently which went well so hopefully in the next major patch server stuff if get much needed polish.
Though if you left from when orison got added, performance is much improved (though still mostly CPU bound), and 30ks are rarer (though I play on EU servers and I'm generally lucky)
For gameplay you have more stuff to do but not more gameplay, sure I can go do bunkers or the centers but it's not new gameplay, yet.
Development has picked up now that teams are moving from Squadron and we have got quite a few revamps to old systems (map, mobi, EVA, flight modes, etc) but they were added recently and need a bit of cooking.
Overall I'd say if they deliver this year on the servers the project would be at somewhere around late Alpha and so they can move onto content to play rather than base tech. The 800 people test did work out well with a few hiccups (displacement of bullets while crossing servers in space).
Forgot about activities and trying to edit on phone is pain so new comment.
Beyond the ones you mention there is racing, salvage, there is technically towing.
Beyond that there are some fancier of the ones you mentioned but content is still the area than needs improving
Just played through Unicorn Overlord again. On a JRPG binge with Octopath Traveler 1 and 2, Fire Emblem Engage and Three Houses. Also playing Smite.
I finished Unicorn Overlord (worst name for a game? idk why I just dislike the name) and was thinking about starting a Zenoiran difficulty run soon, really loved the game overall.
Occasional car games (mostly) with friends. We also played Outlast Trials quite a bit.
On my own, I just started up Skies of Arcadia this weekend, and I don't really know why that game got my attention, but something in my head said it was time to play it. Not that far in yet. I also rushed through what I had left in Yakuza 4, as I was dropping game pass where I had been playing it and didn't want to start over. It wasn't that great. I've started 5 on PC now, but I'm really just screwing around with mini games for now. Other than that, I go spend an hour here and there in Prodeus. All in all, I haven't been gaming a ton. I'm considering a job change and have been spending time on a little bit of those such things along with maybe trying to take some of the dumb certifications to have to throw on credentials too.
How is Trials for solo? The first two games were pretty good.
It’s pretty fun. The trials take about an hour each, but they did a good job of offering multiple reasons to want to replay maps with different objectives, starting points, etc. They’ve also added a lot of content and I believe a whole new map is coming sometime in summer. Solo wise, it works fine, but you might want to prepare to be more stealthy. Instead of relying on other players to revive you, there’s opportunities to gather items in the trial that allow you additional respawns.
Currently: Shin Megami Tensei III- Nocturne, HD Remastered (Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series)
Later this week: Elden Ring- Shadow of the Erdtree
As July comes around, I'll be looking into The First Descendant, a co-op looter shooter.
SMT5 was pretty fun, I believe the re-release with extra content is coming to PC soon if it hasn't already. Stylistically I enjoyed it, and I liked the gameplay a lot as well, looking like this new version will be good too, if you haven't checked out the newest entry.
SMTVengeance was released last weekend. I am at the moment looking forward to getting it sometime, but I'm prioritizing other games first, may as well also wait for a deal.
That is my plan as well, I am a big SMT fan but I have already played through 5 so no reason to buy it again at full price imo.
Barotrauma. Best Finnish death by Submarine simulator ever.
Same as ever... sc2
Evil Dead: The Game (apparently it's dead, but I always loved the Evil Dead franchise (the ones starring Bruce Campbell) and the game has some really awesome mechanics, but it's one of those terrible asymmetric multiplayer horror games. But it has some offline single-player content and it's super hard and kind of fun. It has all the weapons and gameplay mechanics I always wanted out of a good TPS horror game, but I just wish it had a proper story mode and proper progression in the offline mode.)
Hot Wheels Unleashed (pretty cool game, and it's extremely basic when it comes to the mechanics, but if you have sons I would highly recommend this game to get to play with them. Has local split-screen races and a ton of cars to unlock. Be warned that it also has a ton of DLC, I'm not even sure how much of the DLC I have versus what's available because I bought it a while back but didn't play it for the longest. It has a track creator and a livery editor, so there's a ton of replayability. Also, it has zero woke content, which is good)
Prodeus (modern boomer shooter like Doom. It's fun and serviceable that I've been slowly playing off and on)
BlazBlue: Entropy Effect (we don't get many side-scrolling platform beat-'em-up games like this, so I hopped on this when I saw it on sale, and definitely not disappointed. It's an awesome game that's considered a roguelike, and the combat is on-point. The graphics are fantastic and it controls really well. It's a night and day difference whenever you play a quality Eastern-made game versus the Western slop out there).
Star Citizen (mostly just been doing a lot of hunting across the prairies of MicroTech after the fauna was added. It feels like a retirement game now -- I like hopping into the Syulen, grabbing a bunch of food, supplies and a sniper rifle, and doing the poaching missions across the plains and the forested mountain regions. It's very relaxing sniping the animals from a 1 kilometre out.)
I was pretty bummed out about what they did with the Evil Dead game. Like I'll admit, the general direction wasn't exactly a bad idea for that kind of setting, but at the same time the overall gameplay design was just "Meh".
I think the devs put almost too much time into the grind, loot, and reward mechanics than actual fun. Which is very much NOT in keeping with Evil Dead and Bruce Campbell's style..
Exactly. I wish they could have taken the graphics, characters, character design, and weapons, and put them in a more linear story-focused game like the older PS2 Evil Dead games.
Heck, even if they kept the maps open and made it where you progressed through finding items, activating switches, or killing enemies like in Resident Evil, it could have been awesome. But yeah, the overall design just left a lot to be lacking. But I did enjoy the gunplay and the melee was serviceable enough, it just needed to be baked into a better overall presentation of the content.
Heck, if they could make something akin to the story mode in that World War Z game, I would be a super happy camper.
Prodeus have been on my wishlist for a while, looking forward to it.
Campaign mode is definitely interesting and different from other boomer shooters, and I actually really like the upgrade system.
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier for the DS.
FORCED EVASION
Team Fortress 2 until I get tired of constantly kicking bots.
The Finals is pretty fun and is not nearly as gay as COD or Apex Legends or Valorant.
I also play a lot of Dyson Sphere Project and Satisfactory.
I've been playing a lot of Yugioh Master Duel, and (against my better judgement) Oldschool Runescape. I also want to play more of the Great Ace Attorney.
Despite not really playing it before, I really enjoy Trackmania streams/YT videos. Recently there was a big community challenge event based around a difficult tower map, called Deep Dip 2. While I could never dream of finishing that map, it did finally get me to jump into the game and start playing with some regularity.
Stellaris. It being on GOG has been perfect for me as it makes things so easy.
Been playing a lot of Foundry, a recently Early Accessed factory gameI'll probably start another factory game, maybe give Dyson Sphere another try.
I also took a little break from building factories to play Last Campfire, a cute little puzzle game from the No Mans Sky studio that was cheap on Steam the other day. Well worth a couple bucks if you see it on sale.
arx-libertatis
during summer when i myself and all my multiplayer friends are off, i try out some obscure stuff from my childhood that i missed.
I just started playing Wildfrost. I played a lot of Monster Train before. Other than that- Aram games in LoL, AC3, Curse of Monkey Island, Creeper World 4...
I've only been playing old school games. Retroachievements is a pretty good site that adds achievements and leader boards to retro games.
Right now they're running an event for Final Fantasy V called Four Job Fiesta. Basically you're given a job to play as when getting to each crystal. At the last crystal you should have 4 jobs total. You can't level up any other job. If you do then none of the achievements trigger and you don't get the badge for completing the event. This event is proving a challenge since my first job is Blue Mage and my second is Knight. I only have potions for healing.
The other game I'm playing is Tony Hawk's Underground 2. Because I've never beaten the game and this is part of the weekly achievement event. This game is not as bad as I thought it was. It hasn't aged well as far as character designs, but that's Neversoft for you. They don't exactly make games that age well. Which is fine because the game isn't broken. Just a bit hard to look at.
That looks sweet as
Enjoyed it quite a bit. Had a few crashes, but nothing too bad.
I picked up Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising recently and it's the most fun I've had with a fighting game in a while. It's just the right mix of mechanic complexity and executionally forgiving.
Fallout 1 with some fan mods. I've played through 2 a few times but never got to the original. 3+ aren't my style because I don't like shooters or Bethesda.
Have played both at least a dozen times each, great games! Tactics is not the best, but you might enjoy that too.
Skyrim but barely modded for once.
Just installed Legacy of the Dragonborn and a armor and weapon mod. Nothing else it's pretty good.
Dota 2 as always since 2013
But I've been playing Oxygen Not Included again and Stellaris for the first time.
I started a Shining Force playthrough last week as well, and it's amazing how much easier the games I played as a kid are now that i can read.
Oh and I got my son playing Battlefront Ii (the real one) so that as well.
Waiting room till new warcraft expac in Sept and Tarkov wipe in August.
Literally just occasional league/Tekken when solo and wow mythic+/tarkov arena when there's boys around.
I've been enjoying Nine Sols recently. Great metroidvania, though the hitboxes can be bullshit sometimes.
The Crew 2. I can't find Orlando.
