As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of the pre Disney Star Wars Expanded Universe books and comics. I find it interesting they wanted nothing to do with the EU and thought it was smart to alienate myself and all the other fans who faithfully bought the books and spent time in forums, but they seem to keep mining it for content and even more interesting they don’t want to turn their crappy High Republic into a tv series.
Of course we could play a drinking game for when we hear “updated for modern audiences”, “i never played KOTOR”, or showcase the diverse cast
I'm deeply frustrated that modern Western entertainment is so shit that my initial reaction is anger. More KotOR should excite me. More LotR should have excited me. More Fallout should have excited me. And so on. But I felt nothing but anger and dread in each of those cases. Because I knew what they'd do with it.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people at the top truly are so out of touch that they don't understand or realize it. They certainly don't seem to realize or care that the DEI bullshit and narrative pushing makes the content almost entirely unpalatable to anyone with any sense of taste.

My cohost and I were just discussing this the other day. We're at a point where we avoid western content because there's such a high chance of there being some sort of social political nonsense in the show. All we're doing now is watching anime.

I made a post about a month ago complaining about just that; I took a chance, watched a newish movie I'd heard positive things about...and was supremely disappointed. Fuck Michael Bay, fuck Ambulance. That was brutal. What a pointless pile of antiwhite garbage.
I will say, as far as good semi-recent Western entrainment goes, it reminded me how enjoyable both Baby Driver and Boss Level were. Recent action movies that still did it right, with no or limited bullshit. I rewatched them both after the Ambulance fiasco, and still enjoyed them.

Either they change Revan into a woman, completely ignoring all the material after where he was a man like his subsequent child with Bastila Shan and later descendants Satele Shan and her own son, Theron, from SWTOR, or they make him a man and piss off the various nutcases who want their own game pic/headcanon to be the adaptation option.
Considering modern adaptations and especially Star Wars ones you can fully expect if Revan does end up stiil being a man then he will be sidelined in his own story and any and all women in the show will take the spotlight, just like in The Witcher, Obi-Wan, and various others.
You'll be dead before the show actually airs.

It's actually impossible for these people even to recreate anything as good as KOTOR because their very essence is different from the original creators. Down to their mentors, their childhoods, their philosophies, their valuation of the original, and even their instincts. Even if they had some genuinely good intentions like the Witcher showrunner, their studying the source material is like a snake trying to imagine walking. Sad.
Another star wars title to ignore. Just like all the rest.
They should make SW:TOR into a show. Two shows, or alternating episodes.
One following the Republic where they do Jedi things like saving cats from trees, and one following the Empire where they greet each other with a force choke instead of shaking hands.

I'm fairly sure it's some kind of WoW clone, at the very least that game was made during the era when every game studio was trying to copy WoW's success except instead of making SW:TOR a singleplayer RPG they decided to make it some shitty pay to win game that's still shambling along to this day.
SWTOR is a weird beast; an MMORPG that plays like an RPG that has one of the best storylines I've ever seen in an RPG(for Sith players, if nothing else. Though the Imperial Agent storyline is chefs kiss)
It's one of the few RPGs I've ever seen that has your character go from 'poor slave desperate to survive to ruler of a galactic empire' and does it right.
It drives me insane I'll never get that in a single player game. SWTOR is weird.
LS SW is unironically one of the more interesting playthroughs in the game.

Being snarky to Baras is half the fun of the SW story, and a LS playthough means you also get to demoralise a lot of Jedi by pointing out they are the ones always picking fights with you.
One of the earlier missions while trying to track down Jaesa can be turned from a potential 2v1 to a 1v1 by playing it diplomatically and pointing out how deranged one of the two Jedi present is, eventually leading to the other one walking away in disgust at how bloodthirsty his ally is.
Don't get to romance Jaesa as LS until a very long time after that part of the game though, as she was originally the DS romance choice and Vette was the LS one since you needed to pick LS options to remove her shock collar and even have the possibility for a relationship. By the time Jaesa returns players have either reunited with Vette or probably hooked up with Lana Beniko, so Jaesa is not only playing a very late third pick but winds up against two far more developed characters, despite Vette's potential death for some players reducing her development for others since she's no longer a core companion and therefore doesn't get as much dev time from that point
It's the only MMORPG that actually let's me fucking roleplay any way I want without shoe-horning me into a specific role.
I still love the mission in the 'Rise of the Hutt Cartel' where you basically get to flirt and sass with your Imperial Minder... only she doesn't know who you are. And when you finally meet face to face, she freaks out because she's been chastising one of the most powerful people in the Sith Empire.

Some would point out that RotHC was the start of Swtor going woke, it's where the first couple of gay "romances" were before becoming more widespread.
Imp side there was the red skinned sith who could actually die if you didn't intervene to save him, while Pubs had the human female coordinator trying to help with the crisis of the planet being destroyed. The "romance" options for either, significantly diminished as they were compared to the actual romances in game, were only available for characters of the same sex.
Swtor is one of those games I would love to still play but modern Star Wars is such a shitshow no part of its franchise is safe.
On top of all the MTX shit Swtor was bloated with from the Sequels and lots of other random things, the 3.0 revamp ruined a lot of classic features about the game simply so dailies could be inserted to older content zones and more timesinks and grinds could be forced upon players. If a pre 3.0 private server existed I would be there but it's one of the few games of its type that it doesn't seem to have one.
Regarding the IA, it's a tricky story to recommend because on the one hand it's the best written so you would think telling people to play it ASAP would be good. But on the other hand there are so many cameos and Easter eggs littering the story you will miss them if you haven't already done the other 7 stories.
The old twi'lek leader from near the very start of the JK story back on Tython? Shows up at the very end of the IA story.
And the whole story is like that. If you don't know what to look for so many details get missed.
It's classic Bioware storytelling which is why it's so good, back before the dark times of the EA buyout. Best we can hope for though is that they shutter the project and people can make offline emulated servers with 1000% exp bonus or something so they don't have to grind. Either that or you just watch the cinematics from someone who's managed to get through it. Dragon Age Origins is another one that blows the mind with the story though it's really just a classic fantasy RPG they simply told the story well and it doesn't have the diversity bullshit in it we see everywhere these days.
I played the free part late. Technically the game blows, but the Empire story in the free part was great. It was like Horde vs Alliance factions from WoW but the Empire side was actually bad.
Like somebody gets in your way you can just straight up murder them and get evil bonus points for it. It was so refreshing especially today that you can play an actual bad guy.

D+ Star Wars are all the exact same DEI slop shot on the exact same sound stages with the exact same equipment.
There’s also the comic book series, which takes place a few years before KOTOR1, was actually (very) good, and has strong female characters in it already (Jarael and Chantique, mostly), plus it already has Mandalorians in it…
They should adapt that, and leave the game alone. They probably won’t, but they should.
Or the Exar Kun/Uliq Kel’Droma saga, which was slightly earlier, but they definitely won’t do that, because they already cannibalized some of it for Kylo Ren’s plot line (yes, really)…
Give the graphic novels and books a go, if you haven’t yet, folks. Many of them, especially from that era (and produced by Dark Horse!) are awesome.
I’m at the “I don’t care” stage of any of it. It doesn’t excite or anger me, just “I had good memories of it and I can watch/play the classics series.” There is no reason to even listen to these corporations talk about their abominations anymore.
True. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. There are plenty of EU books and comics I still need to read. I recently got Darth Bane but haven’t read it yet
