No. The US had no effective internal air defense system. There were no active combat patrol aircraft on station, armed and fueled, anywhere in the US. Even after 9/11. The US only keeps somewhere under 5 2-person flights available for scramble. The US doesn't have much in the way of anti-fighter air defense in the continental US, because almost all of it came from the Canadian Air Force intercepting Russian aircraft.
