I know there are more, let’s make the list
Right after Bush's "they will hear from all of us soon" speech on the smoking rubble of the Twin Towers, he did another national address to make sure we all knew that "Islam is a religion of peace."
Meanwhile, conservative Jewish commentators are calling for the obliteration of every man, woman, and child in Gaza, and some other conservatives are joining them. To a certain extent this is the culmination of a decade of weariness with the post-Iraq wave of Muslim terrorism, beginning with the Eagles of Death Metal massacre. On the other hand, well, Jews and their privilege.
True while we were being told "Islam is a religion of peace" and "We have to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here"...we were bombing them over there and then importing them here.
As for the extermination rhetoric from "conservatives" I think it's a simple matter of either (for non-Jewish Americans) surrogate Nationalism where American Nationalism is forbidden or (for Jewish and dual-citizen Americans) revealed preference of where they truly consider their homeland to be. Especially when you consider the rhetoric from many of these same quarters toward 9/11 was a far more dispassionate analysis of all the ways America invited the attacks.
