TLOU2 is extra funny because players got not one but two impossible female characters: 1) a petite skinny un-muscled teenage girl who would never physically overpower a fit 200lbs man, and 2) a woman with the build of a fit 200lbs man in an apocalypse.

And that's even more funny because they knew this in the first game, and centered an entire giant chapter around how Ellie is basically powerless against just a basic bandit and has to rely on surprise to violent knife them like 8 times before they can respond. Her entire boss fight is probably one of the best "how it feels to be a woman" simulators, because you are just fighting a regular old man and its completely terrifying how much he can destroy you if he happens to notice you.
There have been many reality tv shows over the years that have had women competing against men, either "indirectly" to accomplish the same task or more directly against each other in a fight. I'm not 100% sure what show it was, might have been one of the SAS ones, but one part had a woman competitor spar with a man.
She took something like 1 hit from the guy and the match was halted, by another guy refereeing, because she was going to get wrecked otherwise. Pretty sure the guy she was fighting was still holding his punches too, more so than expected for "just a sparring match".

Gaming, it's telling that the most successful games of the past decade had a focus on interesting personality not just physical beauty. We had guys simping for the maidens out of Elder Rings to prove that. When I think of early 2000s and 'sexy women in games', at a time when graphics were NO WHERE near as good as they are now, I think most stuff was like Ashelin out of the Jak and Daxter games where you had a hot chick wearing not much but could hold her own.
Because nothing is more unappealing to a gamer, regardless or 'sexiness' than an escort mission..
And with the gaming, that is leaving out all of the Japanese made games where it runs into the same thing as anime where you are spoiled for choice. I am a huge fan of Valkyria Chronicles, and most of the women in that have the looks and personality to give any anime character a run for their money.

Ellie herself was generic, what made her standout was her personality in the first game, that was butchered in everything after the original plot. They're trying to hide how bad they f'd up with her character by doing the whole 'It's because she hasn't got big tits or ass that you're attacking her

The most overrated game of the last 10 years for sure. I mean it's not even fun. If that game hadn't been made by overrated Naughty Dog and a PS exclusive during the height of PS fanboyism no one would even remember it today.
I'm not sure what I'd say the most iconic female character of the last 10 years is, particularly if we are sticking with the context of video games. I would think it has to be something that people outside of video gaming would even recognize, but it's sure not this random chick. You could have told me that was Lara Croft from the most recent episodes of that franchise and I wouldn't have noticed enough to argue.
The first one wasn't bad. Its certainly overrated but you could have a good time with it, as shown by the fact that its multiplayer was decently popular for a time.
And I think 2B is probably the most iconic of the decade. Simply because through the power of her ass she turned Yoko Taro, a niche crazy man whose last 3 games were only played by me and 11 other guys, and turned him into a household name and a highly sought after talent across numerous titles.

But that might not be fair, since while they have had games in the last decade, not many originate in the last decade.

If you go up to a random gaming convention, any place where people care about games, even an anime convention which would have an Eastern bias, and say "name the most famous female character in video games in the last 10 years", you're probably going to get Mercy or Tracer, both due to the same song/meme.

Well that's because Mercy is the centerpiece of the "healslut" movement. Which coincided perfectly with both a massive increase in female gamers (because it was popular and they could get attention through titty streams and latching onto guy streamers) and trannies. Both of whom love to play healers, especially one who the game sucks off that hard as needing to be thanked for existing.
Overwatch never should have had a support class. Playing a healer in an FPS is dumb as shit unless it's the Assault class from the battlefield franchise where you just got to play the game too.

Not sure who they're talking about but if it's Ellie from TLoU she is literally not a character. Her only purpose is to give Joel someone to care about at the end of the world. That's why killing Joel and making Ellie the MC was such a colossal fail. Got rid of the only interesting person in the story and replaced him with a plot device. Idiots.
In any case all iconic female characters are traditionally beautiful in some way.
To stay (somewhat) in the current times with one that isn't some girl boss: Melina or Ranni, pick your waifu. Both cool characters, both play and important role and are not girl boss level or shortie assassin Ellie level here. What about Elizabeth from bioshock? Useful companion with cool powers but she basically needs you and isn't OP on her own.
You can find tons of characters that don't need to be girl bosses and be iconic, some way ahead of Ellie in terms of cultural impact.

I had no idea who that was until someone wrote her name. I'd say Wraith is more iconic, she's been on cans of Monster energy and is in a game (Apex Legends) with 500k+ active players at any given moment. There is no way TLoU has the reach of a free to play game with like 30+ million players.
