The only thing that really affects monopolies is when the government steps in and breaks them apart, and they only do that when they want to gain greater influence in that area. The government is a monopoly on deadly force after all.

A skilled employees best option if they aren’t happy with their pay or working condition is to bring it up with management, and if nothing is done do the difficult task of finding new employment.
