You have a boat going on a long journey. When the hull gets a hole, you patch the hole. Then the rudder breaks and you replace that. Then the mast, etc. By the time you get back home, you have replaced every individual component. Given that none of the parts are the same as when you left, is it still the same boat?

But think of all the money they'll save without employees and a distribution center!

This is highly concerning to me. I REALLY wish he or Vivek had stayed in until Haley gave up. As it stands now, with it just being Trump and Haley, I'm afraid that there will be a sudden increase in court pressure to get Trump declared unable to run and the RNC may start saying "Oh, well, Trump's disqualified and everyone else dropped out so I guess Haley is the candidate!"

ailurus 7 points ago +7 / -0

Sure, but

a) most people do not need to regularly use a boat in their lives

and

b) I haven't heard of any governments passing laws declaring that all but one type of boat needs to get phased out over the next 10 years.

In some dark recesses? I got an e-mail from HR yesterday about how they're monitoring increases in covid cases in the local area and while they're not bringing back mask mandates yet they're encouraging self-testing and offering free test kits to anyone who wants them.

Thrawn trilogy means it's time for the obligatory shout out to a guy on Youtube called Darth Angelus who has, over the past 4+ years, been creating an animated fan version of Heir to the Empire. I think he's got 2-3 chapters left, and has said in the past he would try to do books 2 and 3 in the trilogy too.

95% of people here will condemn it, and at least several will join you in saying that they will not support the ticket.

I'll say that right now. Haley in office will be almost as bad as Biden IMO. if Haley is the VP then I'm convinced Trump will get impeached and convicted by a mix of dems and neocons in the first month or two in office so that Haley can move into the oval office. And a month or so after that, we'll be formally at war with Iran, and probably other places (assuming Biden doesn't start that before the 2024 election).

So, if it is Trump/Haley I'm not voting for it.

Electric busses have been causing hard-ons for lefties for years, as it combines their green virtue signaling with their adoration of public transit. Back in 2022, for example, Michigan spent $54 million on a bunch of electric school busses, for $400k a piece.

It's only going to get worse and worse, both the desire for them, and the fallout. Just two days ago, a bus company in the UK pulled a bunch of electric busses from service after one caught fire.

I agree that would be disastrously stupid if Trump does it. Got to think it's unlikely though. Even with his bad personnel choices, Trump has to realize (especially after the fallout with Pence) that if he picks Haley as his VP he'll be lucky to be in office a month if he wins. All the D's will automatically vote to impeach him on anything and everything, and swaying enough R's to vote to convict will be a lot easier if there's a Neocon warmonger in the VP slot.

Heck, Don Jr said as much a few weeks ago, including saying "I wouldn't have her and I would go to great lengths to make sure that that doesn't happen". Sure, people can change their mind and/or Trump could just ignore that advice, but I think (or at least hope) Haley is a longshot at best for VP.

the Channel deaths "must be a wake up call to take decisive action"

I agree fully with him up to here.

including the provision of safe route for those fleeing war-torn countries.

And now disagree. The decisive action should be closing the borders, loudly and repeatedly announcing that the borders are closed, arresting the people in NGOs who are encouraging this activity and immediately deporting anyone who shows up illegally.

Dude, what are you smoking? I'll freely admit that Trump wasn't and isn't perfect but to put Haley and Trump in the same camp is absolutely insane - there is virtually no overlap in their supporter bases at all. If someone is even considering voting for Haley in the primary, then it is a virtual guarantee that person would vote for anyone else in the primary over Trump. The overwhelming majority of Christie's supporters almost certainly switched to Haley after he dropped out. And while some DeSantis people might swing to Trump if (or rather when) DeSantis drops out, my money is that if DeSantis manages to outlast Haley then well over 90% of her supporters will switch to DeSantis.

11
ailurus 11 points ago +12 / -1

And this is surprising how? Broadly speaking, the primary has 2 camps.

Camp 1 is GoP establishment, who are all in on either Haley or Desantis. Camp 2 is (for lack of a better word) MAGA and if Camp 2 does not go Trump they will go Vivek.

So, with the Iowa Caucuses less than 48 hours out Trump is trying to ensure his win is as big as possible. The odds of him snagging someone from Camp 1 is (at this point) virtually nil so his only option is to try to draw people from Camp 2 which means going after people who might vote Vivek.

Maybe I've got muscle memory from similar games where it is alt-1. Maybe I find alt-1 more comfortable to press than ctrl-1. Maybe I really love my keyboard overall but my left control key is a bit temperamental/sticky and hitting right control + 1 is super awkward. Maybe I'm just OCD or contrarian. Or probably a bunch more reasons.

The same question though, also applies: Why did the dev pick ctrl-1 instead of alt-1? Maybe the dev is the autistic weirdo?

it doesn't make sense for them to be changed at all

Why does it not make sense at all if I want to change, say, ctrl-1 to alt-1 or shift-1?

'You cannot post the images yourself because you have to remember, in Canada, we have a presumption of innocence,'

Unless, of course, you want to protest against Castro Jr's covid policies in which case it's perfectly acceptable to have your name slandered, your face plastered all over news media while the media calls you abject evil, and your bank accounts frozen.

  1. Do not ever vote for a continuing resolution

  2. Do not ever vote for a spending bill that is in the red

I really don't get why that's so hard.

Epps and his lawyers along with the government and Judge Boasberg all agreed Ray Epps was the victim of "widespread conspiracy theories."

And, even if it is entirely bunk conspiracy theories, you've just ensured that every single person who reads this or hears about it will firmly believe those conspiracy theories for as long as he can breathe.

Eh, mixed feelings on this.

Yes, it is garbage that the console manufacturers are banning access to games for media you uploaded (rather than just cutting off access to the media sharing features), and it is also garbage that MS apparently put three strikes on obviously related videos released back-to-back rather than just a single strike.

That said, though, when a guy records obviously 17+ content from a 17+ game and then (apparently) puts those clips online where anyone can access them, you should expect some type of strike.

I don't know about all of them (haven't looked into it that much), but I do know that the Mohawks at a minimum practiced at least some cannibalism. And if one part of the Iroquois Confederacy is doing it, it's logical to assume that the other tribes were at least OK with it if not actively doing it themselves.

It's not hard sci-fi, but I'll add the 2002-2007 webcomic Miracle of Science to the list. Short description is a Mad Scientist hunting cop gets teamed up with a psychiatrist from Mars (which, in the setting, is populated by humans who figured out how to connect human minds in a group consciousness) to track down a mad scientist trying to turn the entire solar system into a robot-run society.

Yeah, I gotta lean this way. Starfield is at mixed overall and mostly negative for recent reviews. Plus, even if it was done well it's the same formula as the last 5+ Bethesda game releases, so what's so innovative about it?

lol. Now that's something I'd pay to see. Imp flies to the moon, breaths a sigh of relief at having finally escaped the menace and steps out of the ship only to see that crew of chicks at 1:06 lined up ready to throw stuff at him.
