Considering how many of us I have seen, there may be cloning shenanigans afoot.
Yep. I still remember them as my first enemy while growing up, and I only made allies with them because they were more likely to go my way than the SJW's who were far more likely to destroy the things I love. But those right wingers never changed, and I took plenty of chances to dunk on the likes of Matt Walsh and his ilk when it was outside of the handful of times he actually said something worthwhile.
It was always going to go back to this. But I think that they arent going to win any more than the SJW's did. Hell, part of the reason I and a lot of my friends ended up liking Trump and the MAGA types is because a lot of them cared about the culture, but didnt want to ruin our games and movies like the TradCons did.
Also, there is a certain point where if you think you are smart, you will make a lot of stupid mistakes thinking you are smarter than the people coming after you. It has been the doom of a ton of "smart" killers in history.
I thought the first season of Korra was actually pretty good, mostly because I thought the whole "Benders vs. Non-Benders" made for an interesting conflict, Amon was a good villain with some interesting powers (since he could steal peoples Bending), and even more so because of the changing nature of the world with the machines that were being invented.
Of course, that all went out the window after the first season.
While true, the Paris Commune was also an anomaly that only controlled...well, Paris. Meanwhile, the government that would become the 3rd Republic controlled the rest of the country, and were the ones actually negotiating with the Prussians after Napoleon III was captured at Verdun and forced to abdicate. And they were the ones that got put into power after Paris was brought to heel with help from the Prussians, and ruled until Nazi occupation.
I am definitely not denying that the Communist pine for the Commune, but ironically it is a fairly large scale case model that shows just how unpopular their ideals actually are to real people, even at a time when they were at their strongest in terms of power.
Just in the interest of nailing it down for posterity and future knowledge, looking it up it is:
1st Republic (aka: Revolutionary France): 1792-1804, Starts with the overthrow of King Louis XVI, ends with the defeat of Napoleon and the forced reintroduction of the Bourbon monarchy.
2nd Republic: 1848-1852, starts with the overthrow of the Bourbon monarchy, and ends with Napoleon III taking power and forming the 2nd French Empire.
3rd Republic: 1870-1940, starts with the collapse of the 2nd French Empire in the Franco-Prussian War, ends with the Nazi invasion and occupation of France.
4th Republic: 1946-1958, starts from the continuation of the French Provisional Government (established in the aftermath of Frances liberation in WW2), was dissolved by a popular referendum and the passage of a new constitution (that mostly empowered the President) after being marked by extreme instability for the duration of its existence (there were 21 different administrations in 12 years).
5th Republic: 1958-Present, starts with the popular referendum of a new constitution, ends with Macron being a power mad tyrant in hock to the Globalist order.
What I want to know is what the hell he was even doing in her chat in the first place. Considering his well established hatred of Vtubers.
Niji ex-tubers are also bound by NDA's, that hasnt stopped them from venting their frustrations and saying how toxic it was with innuendoes. Hell, the former Livers I have seen have used their innuendo powers to actually say they werent mad, just that they didnt agree with the direction.
That is a world of difference from "Almost drove multiple of their employees to suicide" Nijisanji.
I am not ready to say that Cover is at that point yet. There are warning lights flashing, yes. But considering that no one who has left Hololive has yet to raise any negatives about it tells me that we are not yet totally in the danger zone.
It is also worth mentioning that Yagoo still has the controlling share of the stocks, so it is not like investors can force him to go all the way, even if he is fighting the board in the process.
As much as FC5 is my favorite one gameplay wise, I have personally felt that Seed is extremely weak as a Far Cry villain (no matter how much Eden's music slaps).
Compared to the likes of my personal favorite villains in FC2 The Jackal ("I may be a ruthless gun runner, but I am not the one making these people kill each other. And besides, I am rescuing civilians on the side with the plan to leave and let these people murder each other in peace") or FC4 Pagan Min ("I may be a sadistic dictator, but have you seen the possible replacements for me?! I am actually the less evil option here."), I was not really a fan of the fact that Joseph butchered civilians, ruined the entire area, did it all in the name of "I am saving them so they can meet god", and then the game just asspulls that he was right at the end out of nowhere.
Also, fellow M14 enjoyer. I may like the M16/M4 too, but give me my "American AK" any day of the week, to the point I want to eventually get one IRL (the M1A).
For the main point of the thread:
Not on sale, but Sea Power is a pretty fun game if you are into more intense and "realistic" strategy simulators. It is built around late Cold War naval battles, from submarines to the often overlooked surface fleets, with many scenarios where you can play as anyone from the US to the Soviets to the Iranians and other smaller factions. They are also going to add a dynamic campaign down the line that will simulate a WW3 scenario to play over the long term, and there is a Workshop to allow people to make their own scenarios.
For one that is on sale, Jagged Alliance 3 is great and stays true to the older games (which are also on sale). It absolutely does not try to make the game more for a "modern" audience, brings back some of the fan favorite characters that would absolutely be considered "problematic", and just plays with a plot like you would expect from an old 80's action movie, just like it should.
There are honestly a lot of Rock/Metal bands that are starting to become more open about being on the MAGA side, or at least the anti-woke side. And I dont see that changing any time soon, especially as more celebrities are starting to be open about backing Trump and America.
I have long been insisting that the last 4 years were the "History Rhymes" version of the 1970's, and that we would likely get into a new 80's in the near future. You are living in it. And much like back then, Hollywood and other media groups will probably start pumping out patriotic fair because that is some of the only stuff that has made money and they are desperate for money (much like the 1970's Hollywood was after all of their arthouse movies of the time).
Not sure if actually malicious or lazy to the point it is indistinguishable from malice.
Either way, in a fair world, this woman would have her license revoked and be lucky to be working a dead-end job instead of something important. Unfortunately, New York City is not a fair world, even if parts of it are trying to fight back to that place (Staten Island and large parts of Long Island voted Trump, and have been leading the cause against the NYC government).
Don't forget, he already had a border with a NATO country before all of this. It's called Poland. No UN Peacekeeping force needed. Especially when Belorussia exists.
Putins own actions also caused new NATO borders to be created due to Finland joining. So if his goal was to rage against NATO he did a poor job of it (much like how people ignore all of those Eastern European nations would have a very good reason to join NATO). A NATO patrolled DMZ would also be just as good at keeping UKRAINE from doing anything just as much as it keeps Russia from doing anything, and now their lack of NATO membership isnt really a big deal. Honestly, Trumps proposed peace deal with probably the best outcome for Ukraine while allowing Russia to save what little face they have left, even if it pisses off both the NAFO types and the Vatniks.
And on a wide note, it is part of why I do actually like Hegseth for SecDef. It was obvious to me from some of the interviews I watched that he understands the true nature of war that a lot of people forgot (or told themselves to forget) because it is brutal and they dont like it: Peace is rarely achieved in war through documents and negotiations. Peace is achieved through crushing your enemies, seeing them driven before you, and hearing the lamentations of their women. And we in the collective West have allowed ourselves to become deluded into believing that we can diplomacy our way out of all things, and is why we have allowed our militaries to become social experiments instead of lethal weapons. Hegseth understands all of that, and is ready and willing to take a hatchet to the entire DOD to turn it into a weapon again, and do it quick because he knows the threat from China is paramount and he has until 2027 to get it done (at least according to Xi's sabre rattling).
Hopefully, he starts with the Navy and the Marines. They would be the two most important in a potential war with China, and while the Air Force would also be important there they have less issues in their warfighting arm compared to the other two.
I am aware of Wu's true nature, but I am simply running with what is used in most reporting for the sake of consistency.
I started watching it the other day and was planning on finishing it at work.
From about 10 minutes in, here are some noteworthy things:
-
Wu points out how the Democrats are and the Left as a movement is completely out of touch with the podcast scene, pointing out that the Triggernometry guys have had plenty of major (and many actually in office) Right wing politicians come on their show, but not a single prominent Left wing one. She also places the first sign she knew Kamala was going to lose as when she refused to go on Rogan.
-
In relation to the above, she says it is because the Left is scared of having their ideals challenged and need going to start into the spaces where people actually are. Konstantin points out that this is because many of the prominent Left wing individuals are not being honest about what they believe and come off as inauthentic, which makes the podcast scene impossible for them to survive in.
-
She starts to talk about the Trans Movement and that the movement as a whole is largely delusional about the American people and their disinterest in actually changing. Specifically, that they dont seem to understand that the American people are extremely upset at the movement, and that their refusal to acknowledge the inappropriate books in schools and the attempts to trans the kids were only ever going to result in rage and condemnation.
However, I also watched her episode from when she was on Triggernometry the first time, and I will say this: She had a lot of "I am upset it is effecting me now" in terms of what she is complaining about the Progressive movement, and there is also a lot of "I hope you dont remember the things I did in Gamergate." She also still thinks that Gamergate was in the wrong from that video, by the by. You know, in case you thought she actually realized her principles were wrong.
MEME!
MAGIC!
IS!
REAL!
I was unaware he had changed later on, so I take back what I said then.
Haley is completely understandable. Pompeo was a pretty staunch Trump ally even after Jan 6 went down, so that he kind of surprising he went hard "no" on him. But it could just be he didnt have any ideas of where to put him.
After the UK threatened to extradite US citizens for their comments on the riots over there, a lot of even the most Pro-NATO people I know are completely on board with the US asserting its dominance and making the EU their bitch. If for no other reason than to remind them who actually has the power.
then have his name and face removed from every single record in the military; as we do with Benedict Arnold.
I actually wrote my senior thesis on Benedict Arnold in college (on how he is considered the unique American traitor because he was considered a war hero before his treason), and there are some even funnier ones than that. My personal favorite being that at the memorial for the Battle of Bemis Heights during the overall Saratoga campaign (where Arnold was shot and had his leg permanently crippled), there is a monument. It is a statue of a leg, with nothing else, and the dedication is to "A heroic American general who's name has been lost to time."
And that is still better than Miley deserves.
What are you talking about? The 5th Gen fighter (that uses the same engines as their 4th Gen fighter) is totally stealthy (it has the same RCS as an F-18 Hornet...fully loaded) and is of supreme build quality (it has exposed wood screws). Fear the glorious Su-57....all 9 of them.
This is why I was saying pretty early on to just ignore Russia, respond to their nuclear threats with "You wont, no balls" and let Ukraine off the leash. That time was about a year or two ago, and now the best outcome for everyone is Donbas is lost, Ukraine enters some sort of military protection from the US to make sure this doesnt happen again, and Russia gets to go back home with what is left of its dignity.
Honestly, a lot of the big name Vtubers have fairly good relationships with their families. It is part of why I have argued they are a better representation of normal people than a lot of streamers, as ironic as that is due to their virtual nature.
And this is why I am insisting that this wont be like last time where woke stuff exploded in the first Trump term. The Popular Vote win breaks so many of the narratives the woke used to convince companies of their DEI bullshit, where they argued that "We have the mandate, not him". Well, it has been definitively proven now, after 8 years, not only do they have no mandate but it may have made the situation they were claiming to correct worse.
The activist will still keep pushing, and there will absolutely be companies that will ride that bomb all the way to the ground like it is the end of Dr. Strangelove. But far more companies are going to say "We are done here, get lost" and try to do whatever they can to salvage some of their reputation back. It will still require vigilance, but I think we can start to say we are turning the corner.
And I suppose this is where a difference in principle happens, since Utensil is kind of strange in his (probably due to the whole "unironic monarchist" thing). On paper, I agree with him. I care about gameplay and story, I think that games that have to rely on fan service are cringe (although having fan service in itself isnt an issue, just if it is a crutch), and my taste are so backward compared to your typical coomer that I typically find looks like this to be infinitely sexier than looks like this.
But I would never, in a million years, demand the latter be banned or censored. Because that is always, always, what those who seek to control you do to get their foot in the door and start driving that wedge in to eventually micromanage your entire life. And so even if it is not my taste or something I care about, I will absolutely defend it in full. And if the likes of Melonie and Utensil have an issue with that, then they can take a number and get back in the enemy line where they probably would have been in 2000.
