It's a gaslighting phrase Leftists came up with years ago to pretend that them getting their way is the natural state of things. To describe reality as it is (or should be) is always Left wing, Liberal, or similar. It means "stop fighting the natural order, I am perpetually, inevitably, correct."
That would probably be a fairly accurate representation of my world view when I was 14, if I had ever actually bothered to think about it that deeply. Really I was just internalizing what the TV and my teachers told me as though they were perfectly trustworthy authority figures. "If I'm simply repeating what someone who is correct says, then that must obviously make me correct" is the way it's conceptualized as the conscious level.
Thank god I eventually grew out of it.

First person I remember saying that was Stephen Colbert circa 2008.
Yep. It was common at the time for people to notice that the media had a "liberal" bias. Colbert made a joke out of it, basically saying that those who blamed the media for the bias were out of touch with reality.
Yeah, that was my first time hearing it, too. At the time Colbert, playing a parody of “conservative” commentator Bill O’Reilly on Fox News, meant it as a sardonic joke. Basically the schtick was Colbert was playing a conservative guy that thought he was smart, saying things that sounded smart, but really nonsensical. (Colbert would then later go on to prove he really was that kind of person!)
The leftists, of course, ran with it as a rallying cry.
I mean, it makes sense when you think about the nature of leftists, and that after their long march through the institutions, the filter or "lens" that normies perceive reality through actually does (and previously did to a much greater extent) have a "left-wing bias."
It's not the dunk they think it is, though. It just means the locusts controlled everything, and lefties and normies are retarded sheep with no critical thinking skills.
As an example, the majority of "peer-reviewed scientific studies" are left wing, and all the studies that the mainstream is told about through legacy media are left wing. They misconstrue that to be reality, though.
A more accurate statement would be "left-wing bias has a left-wing bias, and I did have breakfast."

That phrase is inextricably tied to the arrogant moral righteousness all progressives have. Furthermore, because progressives have captured all the institutions, their world view is the "default" in current US culture.
Reality contradicts much of standard progressive thought, but because of the information bubble progressives live in, this contradiction doesn't intrude to disrupt progressive thought. This is why they react so strongly to information that disrupts their bubble, like the reality that humans are a dimorphic species, with only two sexes (and a whole host of abnormal sexes.)
In addition to all the other helpful explanations I will add this is a squarely millennial phrase that was popular approx 2000-2015. Why? Because back then the left took control of a (mostly) functioning country, destroyed everything, and got to say, "hey, it's all still working! We're right!" because none of the consequences had arrived yet.
Fast forward to today and you still have a few cockroaches who think Jon Stewart is a wizard of political commentary. To be honest, though, I miss those days sometimes. Because things were working.
They got away with shit like that because things were working. Now the bread is unaffordable, the circuses are gay, and you'll get stabbed on the way there.

Lying
It's a recent phrase that indicates that Leftist policies are based on rationality, logic, and intelligent analysis; but right-wing polies are built on vibes, superstition, and appeals to authority/tradition based off of no evidence.
That sentiment is actually much older than just a few decades. Leftism stole the concept of the Enlightenment and declared that their reasoning was perfect, and by definition purely logical. Additionally, their material analysis of history was based purely on facts, so therefore Leftism had a complete and total monopoly on facts and logic.
This was, of course, complete nonsense. A materialist analysis is philosophically willfully ignorant; and historically illiterate because few things in history are decided exclusively along material lines. Reasoning is fine and good, but logical validity is completely seperate to truth, so something being logically sound has nothing to do with that thing being true. Reasoning alone is a poor mechanism of understanding the world, especially when you don't (or can't) use physical evidence.
And once Leftist narratives were challenged on those lines, and quickly debunked... in the 1870's... they became mere articles of faith by people who claimed to be intellectuals and faithless.
Positivism is a Leftist philosophical concept that has long since been discredited and abandoned because it's nonsense. It summizes that all aspects of reality are exclusively material. That no metaphysics even exists. This makes no sense when you think about it because thinking about stuff involves categorizing and abstracting reality in thought. Positivism basically couldn't even address basic questions of definition because of massive internal contradictions, but it shows how the Left asserted that they always had a monopoly on things that were true, smart, or good. This is the same reason they call themselves Progressive, and why they call some of their political science "Political Rationalism". In fact, it's why they came up with the term "Political Science" in the first place. Politics is inherently metaphysical, and hardly rational, yet they thought they could apply Scientism and force it into material measurements and structures.
Along these lines, it is why basically every iteration of Communism/Socialism since 1914 has been increasingly convoluted and insane ways of denying the fact that Marx was wrong and his theories were proven wrong in overwhelming numbers.
Because according to Marx, when World War 1 began breaking out, the workers of the world would recognized their shared solidarity and overthrow their bourgeois and monarchist masters. Instead, they signed up by the millions to go kill each other for king and country, and the only one to fall to Marxist ideals was the ultra-conservative, backward nation of peasants (instead of the industrial titans Marx promised).
And since then, the Socialist who didnt suffer an existential crisis from this have been trying in increasingly more desperate ways to prove they arent wrong, from arguing people's comforts were brainwashing them, to saying they were too stupid to understand and must be lead by the nose by their enlightened betters, to just accepting Nationalism was a fact and how do we work from there.
I guess they think that nature runs in communal perfection without evil white men to fuck it up. It's all bullshit. Or that a child born without evil traditions would make progressive decisions

Back in the 2000s the right was making tons of shit up (thank to neocon inc et all) so a lot of millennial libs became truth and reality advocates.
That all died the second Obama was elected. I remember watching in real time as all my liberal friends lost interest in the truth and started calling me a traitor for questioning The Holy One.
They are trying to say, "I'm correct about everything and you should die," because that is what they are always trying to say.
But there's a kernel of truth in the statement if you use very broad definitions.
Right = Conservative = Keeping things the way they are.
Left = "Progress" = Changing things.
The right builds and maintains institutions. This is hard, it takes effort to assemble things in an orderly way. As opposed to the chaos of submitting to base desires and spending all your time obsessed with drugs and sex. If you want to wax philosophical about it, the left-wing is the omnipresent threat of the heat death of civilization. All things that can be built will eventually decay, so it is true that reality has a left-wing bias: entropy.
Or if you want to be less pessimistic about it, they're braindead enough to think "conservative" means a complete lack of change. So any shift in anything is left-wing. Every way your life is different now than it was 5 years ago is "left-wing." Though I suppose there's an argument to be made that novelty-seeking is a more left-wing trait.

Currently, it's a case of.. everything that has ever been bad is because of conservative/right wing, but everything that has changed and that is good is liberal/left wing.

They want to censor and inject political corrections into everything, then inject acting like what was said or done is awful so they can assert dominance and control. This is a false equivalency. Conservatives were guilty of promoting an ancient but proven value system with millennia of documented success behind it.
