Can only work properly in a high trust society as a LOT will be lost due to 'people' not returning them, damaged and broken because 'people' don't care enough to not thrash them around.

And 'people' will try to scam it to avoid paying for everything.

Aldi has to put deposits on regular shopping carts because of blacks. I can't see this working anywhere lol.

This isn't even a new idea. I don't know why they think this time will be different, just because it's using cameras and scales instead of barcodes.

I mean Walmart proved it a long time ago, only physically locking up the shit they steal actually works. Physical barriers.

Aldi has put deposits on regular shopping carts, cause that's how Aldi has been doing it in Germany for decades.

The wheels blocking when you want to leave the supermarket's grounds though - that is something only US carts have.

That's only in relatively melanated and urban parts of the US too, in parts where the demographics are still in line with the founding stock and enough distance from cities you can still find unmanned farm stands.

More than that, considering you won't be expected to go through a line (unless there's some thing where door people check your cart or something) what's to stop untrustworthy people from walking out with cart and food?!

The less you involve people, the even more shameless certain people will be.

If we had a Supreme White nation we could have got rid of cashiers a long time ago. White people tell you to take a carton of eggs and just leave the money in the box.

But we don't have a Whites Only nation. All White nations were infested with lying anti-Christ synagogue of satan racist subversive inbred goblin faced k!ke jews. And once you let k!kes in, they implemented the kalergi plan and brought in millions of shitskins to destroy your once great White civilization and turn your children into homeless slaves in the land their forefathers conquered.

One time I went through the self checkout at the grocery store, paid for everything and got to my car, as I was loading up I realized I forgot to ring up a package of bacon, was I tempted to just keep loading up the car and leave? Hell yes. Did I? Nope. I walked right back into the store and paid for it. If someone can't do the same thing in that situation then I don't want to share a society with them.

Cheaper just to put up a WHITES ONLY sign on the business window

But then k!kes had to pass the civil rights act, making it illegal for Whites to have a civilization of their own. White men were stripped of their civil rights and became servants to low IQ shitskin invaders. Lyndon Johnson was a faggot.

I would imagine most Japanese buy groceries more like Europeans than Americans (smaller orders more frequently) because they are limited what they can buy at one time because they have to be able to carry it home on foot/by transit.

in Romania we have something like this, it's just not built into the shopping cart, it's a little handheld thing you carry around instead. at the self-checkout you skip having to unload the cart and can just instantly scan things in, pay, drop the little device off and wheel the stuff to your car.

none of the devices have been stolen yet so i guess that makes Romania high-trust, ha

These k!ke loving Americans took the wrong side in WWII and left Romania to the mercy of jew bolshevik communists.

Imagine losing half the continent of Europe to a bunch of lying anti-Christ jew bolshevik revolutionaries, importing millions of jews who supposedly died but didn't into America, having America rapidly become a degenerate k!ke infested satanic culture dominated by jewry, having every White American child brainwashed with endless holohoax propaganda, and still pretending you are patriotic and taking the national anthem seriously and pretending you won WWII. Americans are brainwashed fools.

Existing measures don't stop trolleys being stolen, the bells and whistles these ones have just up the incentive to take them and strip for parts.

barely worth anything.

Yes I'm sure that will stop people from stealing them, simply because they have been told how worthless said stolen items are.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– userman631 1 point 218 days ago +1 / -0

Lack of value does stop theft if there are enough items of equal or greater value to steal first, only so many things can be carried at a given time and prioritization has to be made. Beyond that if you've already stolen five of one item that you have no use for and can't find a buyer for then why even bother grabbing a sixth when it will just end up taking up space?

Losses from theft and property damage are factored into costs of doing business and it's not like these scanners are the only thing that can be stolen and they would be among the lowest priority once the appeal of being the shiny new thing wore off.

So we've had self scanning here in Sweden for like 25 years and cashiers are still a thing.

This was introduced way before self checkout, which is more common in medium sized stores where people just do their daily shopping and not their big weekly hauls.

It works by just using your membership card and you would get a scanning gun that you would return on exit. It's mostly found at big supermarkets.

Nowadays though you can just use an app to scan the barcodes and tap to pay on exit. Saves them on equipment costs and people stealing or forgetting to return the scanning guns.

Walmart specifically seems to have ruined the self checkout system. It used to work great, but then they limited the machines. Lines reappeared and we couldn't dodge the slow people. Then WM put in special lines for people who pay $13 a month.

Aldi's and Publix are closer, so WalMart is no longer a major stop.

Self checkout works best when its the "I didn't even need a cart to carry what I've got" option for people just moving quick and getting out.

Once it became the default it was always going to go to shit, no matter what they tried because it now relied on the intelligence and speed of a common idiot to function. Which is why one of the first things they had to bring back was having a full time employee just there to troubleshoot the things.

In a way I agree. I see the women with giant carts and know they're going to take forever. However, I could have used a different line or machine. Walmart restricted that.

Same. I bag my own groceries. I'm just not going to drill down through tard-menus to select that I bought a white vs yellow onion. I'd rather do something than poke at a screen. I'm just buying an onion ffs

cart full of groceries

dunno where you shop but where I am the self-checkout provides a tiny shelf which is extremely awkward to work with if you're buying more than a handful of items at a time.

Also, about two in five times I use self checkout something breaks. One of my kids bricked a store's system recently. Fucked up the entire store's computer system.

I saw contractors converting shopping carts to lock up with an invisible fence not that long ago at a local grocer.

The shopping cart locking wheel systems are so fucking retarded. Half the time the cart freezes while still on their parking lot property halfway to my vehicle, forcing me to handbomb everything and leave the cart in the middle of the roadway in place.

Not going to replace checkouts because this is neither convenient or low-effort. Also, there will be random checks where you're 'randomly' (AI surveillance based on risk classifications and 'suspicious behaviors' e.g. taking your smartphone out of your pocket can be construed as theft) picked out of a line and all your 'scanned goods' are verified.

If the customer is asked to do the work on behalf of cashiers, then the concept is doomed to fail.

This has been a long time coming, but it was always the plan.
