The people that cry out about "media literacy" can't distinguish fiction from reality?
"Media literacy" is just them interpreting art through marxist lenses. It's a trick to feign authority: they first interpret works from prog authors, they explain the symbols and narratives. Once they garnered enough credibility to the public, they interpret works from other philosophical currents in the same way, this time they purposely misinterpret the symbols and devices.
That's why they say everything is political, that's why they say everything has always been woke and everything has always been problematic at the same time.
Frieren confuses them because it's about the existence of evil, they can't spin it as muh right wingers because it's about actions, not ideology, and they feel identified
their loss, been reading it most of the day since somebody brought it up, legitimately good story.
Because they constantly live in a world that has no rules besides what npc programming they get, and so reality is completely fluid for them. They're generally not even self aware to acknowledge it either.

Most lefties just have part of their brain wired up backwards. The heat graph shows it.
What's happening here is they like the demons because they're evil. The lower parts of their brain (that are wired backwards from normal) give them this signal, then their higher brain confabulates a reason as to why that should be true. It's all just gish gallop. They like demons because demons are evil and they want to be evil.
The new guy comic is another great example - the author self insert is a complete piece of shit and they don't even realize it. They will willingly align with evil when given the chance and only avoid it to disguise themselves.
They just say the words that they think will get the result. They are the demons from frieren.
It's also why leftists cannot write villains that we can hate well. I've yet to see them do it correctly, more often than not I root for the bad guys.

To be honest, most people go through a phase where they like the villains/evil characters way too much. Its more evidence of the "Leftists/Women are still stuck as teenagers" idea, because that's when most of us go through it.
And sometimes its hard to blame them because the bad guys are way cooler and more interesting in a lot of series.
The problem with Lefties is they can't admit X thing is awesome while also saying they are bad and disagreeing with their point of view. Those two things must be synchronized. Its why they cannot fathom Righties liking things that parody them.
I mean, it IS ok to have that as a story premise. Because it's a story. No one is getting hurt. No real people are being targeted to be wiped out. It's not us associating fictional races with real life ones.

Leftists are mad about Frieren’s treatment of demons for the same reason that right wingers love it: we recognize that demons in Frieren are highly analogous to real life leftists. Using human language purely as transactional passwords to get what you want? Weaponizing human empathy to deceive and ultimately destroy humans? Leftists feel personally attacked by these ideas precisely because they resemble the behaviors of real world leftists.
The only people who are lost in all of this are the denialists who claim that Frieren’s demons bear no resemblance to real world leftists. There are several such people in these comments. Frieren being chill and based will always be funny to me. Only in anime could you have a character like that. No other medium comes close.

Leftists take the demon allegory in Frieren personally, because the demons' sociopathic usage of language as passwords and emotional magic spells describes them a little too well.
Simple really Frieren is currently popular with the anime/manga fans and have materials they perceived is pandering to people they dont like. Thus like locust they swarm and grift the IP to be used as another platform to virtue signal.
Its because Frieren brings it up a lot and talks about it directly to their face. The evil things aren't just there, it actually acknowledges they are irredeemably evil and regularly mocks people for saying "they are just misunderstood" or "they can be civilized" with brutal horrific deaths.
The Lefties can feel how directed it is at their beliefs and reject it for that reason, whereas most "evil creatures" are often vague enough for plausible deniability.

Frieren is refreshing in how it just outright says "no, demons are evil and that isn't going to ever change" but it also belabors the point so long it almost makes it difficult to take seriously.
The entire El Dorado arc is just them saying that over and over and over and over, and it takes up like 1/3rd of the series currently. It keeps teasing that "ooo it might not be true!" and then it is again, every time.
That's a personal gripe not a political one, because clearly it being said that many times triggers people who need to be told it that many times +1.
