Leftists are mad about Frieren’s treatment of demons for the same reason that right wingers love it: we recognize that demons in Frieren are highly analogous to real life leftists. Using human language purely as transactional passwords to get what you want? Weaponizing human empathy to deceive and ultimately destroy humans? Leftists feel personally attacked by these ideas precisely because they resemble the behaviors of real world leftists.

The only people who are lost in all of this are the denialists who claim that Frieren’s demons bear no resemblance to real world leftists. There are several such people in these comments. You dissemble with the assertions that it’s “just fiction” and “isn’t connected to reality”. You should be asking yourself why leftists self identify with the demons in almost every media.
