The comments suspect speaking out against illegals is what brought the heat down on his head.

It's genius really: make embezzlement of government funds the norm. It enriches the ++good stooges, and provides a legitimate excuse to destroy the dissidents.

I mean, they didn't come up with it (they are not that good at strategy), this is a well-known strategy used by autocrats.

The mere fact that anyone knows that he can be destroyed at will is a strong will to obey those who can destroy you.

That is exactly correct.

The elites engage and proliferate in pedophilla for the same reason. They know it's true, and then if someone steps out of line, they use it as a weapon to destroy one of their own former allies. No one will question it. That's why P Diddy is probably a dead man walking.

Tyrants need degenerate underlings because it ensures loyalty.

It enriches the ++good stooges

and in so doing, entrenches the good stooges, giving them the funds and ability to hold their positions.

The first hit is always free for a reason...

I agree with the notion that this is retribution for speaking out against the illegals, after all, as you say, this really is the SOP for government and every single one of those bastards are doing this, and worse.

That's literally why every politician and other Elite seems to be involved in Child Sex (or gay shit) in some regard.

Its the norm at literally all of their gatherings, so they think its fine. And then when they get too uppity or a liability it "suddenly" comes to light.

I have a hard time believing they'd go after one of their own for that "luxury" stuff if he had toed the line.

That said, the article is kind of weird. It goes on and on about a relatively small amount of luxury gifts that sound inflated. Then they casually mention "oh yea he also allegedly stole $10M in public funds" without ever elaborating.

The guy is a scumbag for other reasons but calling this a crime is ridiculous. Real "they can get you six ways to sunday" material, unless there is some evidence he did something in return for the gifts. I have no idea why Turkey cares so much about the mayor of New York anyway.

"Free meal and transportation during Istanbul layover." Shit better throw the book at him.

Lol he knows he is fucked if he resorted to drawing a similarity to Republicans just to have an excuse for this.

Do you really pay $6000 for a business class upgrade on a return ticket from New York to Hungary?

These prices look grossly inflated.

Looking at Expedia right now, one round trip ticket from NYC to Istanbul runs about $900-1000 for economy class and $4000 for business class, so the numbers actually might be plausible.

That's a good deal higher than you pay for similar distances in Europe. I guess Americans are not as poor as Europoors so the airlines rob you more.

it always amuses me when i read "europoor" knowing that you guys pay $2000 rent a month even in normal cities over there

Yes, but apartments and houses in NA are twice the size of yours. Except in New York.

Electricity is stupidly expensive in many European countries. In Germany 30+ cents per kWh is the norm. More than half of that are various taxes.

Suburban houses in NA are really great, even 'poor people' have great homes. But are the apartments really that big?

From my personal experience, a similar apartment to mine costs 3 times as much in a not-NYC US city. God knows how they manage it, housing is a disaster where I live. So I think it's just "they can pay more so let's charge them more", like with the tickets.

I'm not being chauvinistic when I say that I'd rather live here than there, at least if these were the only considerations.

It varies wildly based on location, but you can get really large apartments with 10 foot ceilings for reasonable rent in America. My last place in the city had a massive balcony too. In the suburbs they'll often have attached garages for a little extra rent.

Well, they also pay more for business class tickets, it seems - or even normal tickets. So that in part makes up purchasing power for poverty.

Also, I'm European and I don't like them much. But they're in charge of the green paper production mills, so they have a lot more money on paper.

Hizzoner — who is the first sitting New York City mayor to be indicted — was scheduled to make an initial appearance at the Manhattan federal courthouse at noon on charges he took bribes and illegal campaign contributions from foreign nationals in exchange for favors

Is this some Ebonics shit?

He wasn't a DEI. He was the pro-police candidate running against actual Defund the Police people. He also criticized the Biden regime for allowing an invasion to proceed, which is probably why they targeted him.

And they say: these things go back way before he was elected. And yet you only arrested him now. Doubleplus unsuspicious.

The man is an overt racist, and he's clearly a stupid Marxist. The only reason he's in office is because he's black.

Reminder that only a year or two ago Adams told a room full of black city officials how proud he is that brown people are in charge of the city.
