If the devs relent for real, they'll probably go full cuck like Dead By Daylight idiots, and killing a rainbow flagger will be a hatecrime or some shit.

One game refusing to add rainbow flags is a tiny win compared to hundreds of thousands of players gunning down anyone in a rainbow cape. The meltdown would be fucking amazing. Especially because friendly fire is a big part of the existing gameplay experience. They would never be able to prove it was intentional, and they wouldn’t be able to prevent it without fundamentally altering the game for the worse. Seeing a massive success sabotaged by the rainbow mafia in real time would be a gigantic win.
That would be ideal. Millions of people losing a game they love because the rainbow mafia sabotaged it? You can’t buy that kind of press.

We’ve had small wins before. We’ve never had anything like what would happen if they put gay capes in HD2. It’s almost a shame that the devs appear to know better.
If they did relent, this is precisely what would happen. I believe there was something similar happening in Overwatch, where players getting killed playing as one of the rainbow freak characters repeatedly would claim they were being targeted for harassment. It creates a whole new can of worms where the devs then have to treat the alphabet mafia as a protected class in the game.
As much as it would be funny to see anyone with a rainbow cape getting gunned down mercilessly by teammates, anyone who has seen how this usually plays out knows that once the knee bends an inch they have to go all the way down, and that typically means banning players and putting in restrictions to protect faggotry at all costs. And yes, they will likely end up having to break their game to protect faggots, the way Neil Druckmann did with TLOU2, disabling the player's ability to shoot any of the Tiny Hat Commission's paraphernalia in the game.

Unfortunately for the funny option of number two, last I heard they went with option 3:
Ban EVERYONE trying to bring politics into the game, want an LGBT flag = ban. Want to complain about those wanting an LGBT flag = Ban
So it's really a non issue now. The bigger issue is how they seem to be bringing pilotable mechs into the game and it's reopening the old wounds on Titanfall veterans who remember their game getting abandoned.
What's funny is that this game has been popping up all over YouTube, as a bunch of people are playing it, and now I'm seeing a lot of (former?) Halo players complaining that 343 dropped the ball big time, as Helldivers 2 represents a lot of what Halo should have become.

None of them are hating on Helldivers 2, in fact they love the game but they're lamenting on how the franchises they used to love fell into ruin through poor management.
So Helldivers 2 is scooping up a ton of players from these dissatisfied fans of fallen franchises. Hell, if they add a relatively hot alien race we can 'civilise into democracy' they'll get all the Mass Effect fans to join too lol

What makes it really bad is because Helldivers 2 has zero innovations as far as gameplay mechanics are concerned, it's just a really solid package that works. Zero wokeness, and a pretty decent gameplay loop made on a modest budget.
It basically makes the other AAA studios look even more like clowns than they already do.
Another notch in its favor is its extreme attention to detail. There are a lot of little things this game has in it that you might not notice unless you scrutinize it closely. Such as various reload animations (such as guns having a 1 handed reload for when you have a shield and a proper partial reload for the revolver), a full first person ADS for all weapons including reload animations for that view point, the rocket launcher have back-blast (though that ones more obvious), and full on terrain deformation to name just a few things.

The reload animations also stood out big time. I noticed how they clear the chamber and dump the magazine away from them. St. John from Days Gone reloads the same way, and I absolutely adored the game for that. You can tell the developers actually cared about making the game feel grounded in terms of equipment and combat realities despite its over-the-top satirical nature. It's what really helps make you feel connected to the battles and the tactical nature of how they play out.
The Fleakazoid review on the game and comparing it to this generation's Left4Dead made me raise a few eyebrows and almost makes me tempted to try it out.
Tempted, but not quite there. I'll let it cook for a bit longer before pulling that trigger.

Titanfall 2 was some of the best times I've ever had in online multiplayer. Gutting one of the very few promising new IPs for another soulless Battle Royale game is one of the great modern tragedies of the industry.
