AMBER alerts are the first thing you turn off on a new phone because it's always some cunt ex-wife calling the police on the father for "kidnapping" for being late to the hand-off by two hours.

No I turn them off because they are annoying. I don't care if the reason is legitimate. Not my kids - I don't give a shit.

I'm also never in a position where I'd be able to do anything about it if I wanted. If I get them when I'm at home or at work, I'm not going to be able to notice the described vehicle. And if I get it when I'm driving, I'm not going to take my eyes off the road to look at my damn phone to read the alert.

The entire phone system is pure barbarism. Arguably the worst invention of the 20th century. The idea that someone in a remote location can disturb the peace of your home at any time and you're actually obligated to react immediately is completely insane. I've had my phone on silent for more than a decade now and never regretted it a day. The number of uninterrupted sleeps I've had as a result has probably added years onto my life.

Preach it, brother!

Alexander Graham Bell was a meddling son-of-a-bitch who should have been shot by some public spirited citizen before he perfected the telephone.

Same goes for his other competitors.

What about the mobile phone. And the smart phone.

Bring back switchboard operators.

I turn them off because they send out alerts for the entire state and Texas is too big for that. What is someone in Texarkana supposed to do about a kidnapping in El Paso? Texarkana is about as far from El Paso as Chattanooga is from New York City.

Well considering blacks tend to abandon their children instead of kidnapping them, you won't have to worry much about this situation.

Sometimes black dad just wants to take his kid to McDonald's without feeding the baby momma's other kids.

being late to the hand-off by two hours.

I see you're being extra generous today by going as high as hours with these situations.

Based on the recent lootings and riots by "youths" it's a good idea to warn the general public when there's a black child on the loose.

I saw the shitpost before I saw the real story, so I was excited when I thought that the government was going to notify us of major Chimpouts.

TBH, it sounds more useful than the bullshit they actually passed.

Makes no sense. It cracks me up how they get angry about how if a black woman disappears the news doesn’t care. Since most crime is between the same race then if a black woman goes missing most likely a black guy has something to do with it so the media won’t report on that. Also it does seem if the missing woman regardless of race is attractive the case gets more attention. An overweight middle aged white woman who goes missing will most likely not get endless coverage

It also ignores the basic correlation.

Missing black women is usually due to drugs, prostitution or both. Both of which are "disposable" people that nobody really cares to look for or risk themselves trying to help. Its the same across any other category. No one gives a shit when missing white hookers hopped on meth don't come home either, and that's probably a huge percentage of those too.

The attractiveness helps, but its really more of a case of there are more white people who aren't ultra poor ruining their life, so there are more cases of them missing while not being precluded from people's empathy.

That's the big joke they are missing.

Its like the "black owned business!" labels they tried. It just makes it easier for people to know what to avoid and will be used more for that reason than any positive.

I think we just found the solution to all the rioting and looting. Let loose a bunch of small black children in shirts that say "I love daddy!" and they'll all clear off in an instant.

The Black and Missing Foundation also also found that Amber alerts are inexplicably less effective when Black children are missing than for white children.

It actually is rather explicable. The vast majority of crime is intra-racial so the perps of these missing black children are going to be black themselves. And the black community tends to STFU and not talk to the police even if they see something suspicious.

The Black and Missing Foundation also also found that Amber alerts are inexplicably less effective when Black children are missing than for white children.

So now rather than ignore Amber Alerts that state the missing child is black, the entire Ebony Alert will be ignored because it forewarns people.

Also, fuck you article for capitalising Black.

Wonder how the Hispanics, who are the vast majority in California now, feel about this? You know, the ones that chase the negros out of their neighborhoods.

There’s no provable moral difference between bad police and evil policy.

It's a core part of leftism. They justify their actions around the moral impetus behind it. I've seen leftists react to failed policy with "at least they tried". And every time a school shooting happens, leftists will justify gun bans with "we have to do something". It's also the reasoning behind the leftist phrase "no bad tactics, only bad targets".

This is a good insight. And most of the time it's not even the result of a sincere, well-meaning but misguided urge to act - rather, they're acting entirely for the purpose of feeling important and superior, or to signal their purity to others.

Change and progress aren't always bad, but a huge amount of the world's problems come from 'doing something' for the sake of doing something, without caring about the consequences.

The COVID jab causes heart problems, especially in young people - not to mention all the suicide and drug deaths from the restrictions. That was something. Was it better than nothing?

Nuclear annihilation of 80% of the world population is something. Would they argue that is better than nothing too?

I fucking hate the idea that it's "better than nothing". Because there's many many instances of that "something" being actively harmful. And what's worse is that this idea that "something is better than nothing" is so pervasive among the midwits out there that it's not even an uncommon idea.

In the broadest sense he isn't wrong. You shouldn't wait for a perfect solution to try and do something.

The problem is this isn't really a solution, its just political smokescreening.
