As it happens, recent reporting on the actors striking discussed concerns about supposedly-related businesses being harmed. It'd be shocking if they implied the sake of the overall economy relies on our partaking in the circus.
If it does (which it never will), there would be much rejoicing.
And as to why it never will -- too many entrenched interests own and operate it. It's literally the biggest propaganda machine around. The government will never allow it to collapse if the have any choice.
They won't have a choice though. 95% of anyone with actual standing in Hollywood went out of their way to demean, insult, and call for the arrest or killing of way too many common people in the country. They are causing their own demise through both their behavior and their lack of talent. You don't get to bail them out after something like that. If that's not a taxpayer red line between peace and civil war, I don't know what is.
They don't need the common man. Very clear that the financial system is fake. They can print up money and rescue Hollywood at a convenient time. If people rise up and revolt in response to that, they can print up money and feed it to military for crowd control
It probably won't happen, but a comeuppance like this is a long time coming. They'll likely ask for a bailout, and probably get it. But if they don't, lots of people are going to be out of work, and a lot of people are going to move away from LA.
The shockwave of it will have unintended side effects. It'll take out feeder jobs that were built up in Hollywood. Everything from production companies, to special effects companies, right down to the bottom feeders who make their living on gossip, buying paparazzi's photos, and 'power couple' rumor and speculation.
Will never happen. It's not like the actors can be "Well, then I go to Hollywood2 and work there!".
Without Hollywood they are regular people with no skills. Sure their name will help them for a few years, but that will run out eventually.
