I don't really pay attention to AAA games but I can't help but notice the number of intentionally ugly women - black women in particular - that are being used in marketing these days.
What is that expression supposed to convey?
Who is this supposed to appeal to?
Of female gamers I would guess that the group that plays games the least would be black women. Yes there are black women who play games but I would think they play the least of the groups. Same with reading sci-fi/fantasy.
I have yet to even see a black woman be into games, let alone any fantasy genre. It's the one they try to push the most because they want them in those spaces. Same as with women going into tech: they don't want to, stop trying to social engineer shit no one was asking for.

Reading an EU Star Wars book currently and it reminded me of a black female coworker I had back in 06 who was big into Star Wars EU too so we would swap books to read. So that was one example but I stand by my previous statement. Like I said earlier I have seen some anime fans.
The only black women I know who play video games are gigantic weebs playing Anime games and the occasional Nintendo "comfy" games like Pokemon and Animal Crossing.
And never are their player characters anywhere close to black caricatures like these.

Well the premise seems interesting in the sense of vampire hunters vs vampire gods, but the second I read "scientist created vampires trying to save his daughter and became their god", I knew it would be shit.
It would be good if it were just Borderlands or Dead Island with vampires, that's a pretty low bar too, but they insisted on making it more grounded and over-explaining everything in the summary articles.
They've gone all in on the diversity myth and seem to think that pushing woke is a substitute for quality. This is the same mindset Hollywood has adopted.
They're not going to stop until everything on a TV screen in any media format is complete garbage.
It's actually kind of funny -- back in the early '00s, the best way predict if a game was derivative, unimaginative garbage was if its cover featured a jacked (generally white) guy with a crew cut.

Most of the games featured fit white guys with short hair because 1) white males were the target audience and 2) short hair was easier to render. The good games and the bad games had similar protagonists.

The game has some fuckin lesbian butch for a priest. I immediately alt-F4d my way out of that mess when I realized what I was looking at.
I was barely able to slog thru the trash in the first place, but as a sucker for open worlds with good atmosphere I was trying my best. I finally realized the tone of the entire game when I met the freak.
Have you tried Generation Zero? It's essentially what Redfall tried to be, but in a Terminator-esque apocalyptic-Sweden set in the 1980s.

I played it a bit because it's included in Game Pass. I haven't experienced any of the glitches the reviewers are talking about, but I don't see how this is a AAA title.
The graphics are basically PS3-era quality, and there really isn't much depth to either the story or gameplay. It really does feel like a last-gen game overall. The most infuriating aspect is that when you play as a group, only the host's story advances. When you go back to single player your levels and equipment carry over, but none of the missions you played on the host's game are completed. It's like they grafted multiplayer onto a game that was meant to be single player.
Regarding the publicity art, they're clearly trying to push the ESG agenda. The four PCs are: white guy, Indian guy, Hispanic girl, black girl. It seems like they wanted to tick the "diversity" boxes, but threw in a white dude to appease the bulk of gamers. It's not surprise that the black chick gets pride of place in the marketing.
Black women's involvement in any media conveys that compromises have been made with the empire ideology.
Either through ideological capture - in which case we know the quality will have suffered immensely through a mix of diversity hires and regressive tropes, and that the product will be nothing but propaganda.
Or through opportunism - in which case we know that the product is going to be soul-less, bland, and uninteresting in every way.
Conclusion: you should be glad they're featured, it lets you know immediately what to avoid.

There isn't one masculine male to play in the game.
Everyone's been intentionally uggified too, as is the style today. Even the off-white characters look like they had at least one appearance slider set to Randomize. One guy has giant lips, the other one has giant ears. Don't get me started on the other woman.

From a distance I always thought the priest was an effeminate man, but it turns out to be a complete bull-dyke woman. And they made her look absolutely horrible.
The sniper guy is White and he’s literally the only normal looking character I’ve seen in the whole game, everyone else else looks like some weird woodcut.

Dunkey just released a video on it and it's funny. Way more entertaining than the game itself for sure.
His 'Forspoken' video was hilarious. The entire time, he was playing Spiderman 2 (the PS2 game) and right at the end, he says Forspoken sucks lol.
Are the graphics in Dunkey's video representative of the game? If so, yeesh. It looks absolutely terrible, to say nothing of all of the bugs and gameplay issues.
From what I can tell the diversity seems almost like a smokescreen designed to hide that the game is quite mediocre and can't decide what it wants to be, meaning it fails at every thing it tries to do.
Which means, much like Lawbreakers and Saints Row, that there is nobody who likes it remotely enough to do the "all the haters is racist!" routine to protect it.
I only saw worthabuy play it and it looks absolutely dreadful. Why anyone would want to play this is beyond me, not to even coujt the technical issues.
