She is the director of "Afghanistan Unveiled", a documentary about the suffering of girls and women under the Taliban, all because of their gender.
In that documentary, she does not "unveil" the pervasive child rape practice of Bacha Bazi, young boys routinely turned into sex slaves by local chieftains. Because, fuck them, they are the wrong gender.

How does this make her a good candidate to direct a Star Wars movie? Don’t plan on watching it but it still irks me that they said they got rid of EU because they wanted a clean slate which is their right but then proceed to cherry pick and bastardize stories like this Rey movie taking Luke’s story as well as the Ahsoka show. Very dumb to say you have no source material after not using what Lucas gave you and not using the EU as a template for a movie

And I would wager that the Rey movie will blend elements of NJO and Jedi Academy. And the Ahsoka show looks like Heir to the Empire with Ahsoka playing Luke’s role. All Disney had to do was not crap all over Luke’s character.

Who's gonna watch this. Seriously? Rey was a 100% awful character (not just because of Ridley but tbh if you want a character to be a believable low level scavenger. Might not want to hire an english posh girl with perfect horse teeth) . I only went to the last ones because my brother and his kids wanted me to at Christmas. My bro leaned over and said 'This is the last star wars film I'm doing at Christmas.'
