If you don't want people to eat as much meat, make great dishes with vegetables like they do in India. I got NO problem not eating as much meat if I get that kind of cooking.

But that isn't the issue, it's just step one to trying to desensitise people so instead of eating stuff grown and in tune with nature, we drink our grey goo and bug juice in our vr pods than experience reality.

This. Vegetables can be great, but I’ve no interest in vegetables pretending to be meat. Just like I don’t bother with men pretending to be women. Somehow, I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

No startup is going to get VC money by selling beans, lentils, rice, vegetables, ghee, and seasonings.

Just like on the right you're starting to see things like Zero Acre Farms that are making industrially processed cooking oils which aren't seed-based and mimic the nutrition profile of animal fats. Why not just try to figure out how to raise healthier livestock at lower costs so their animal fats are healthier, and then sell healthier meat and animal fat at lower cost than the competition? Because no startup is going to get VC money doing that.

It's sad when you discover that the answer to most questions concerning why human nutrition in the West is so fucked is some variation of "because no one can make any money on you when you're healthy".

I would say I have 2-3 vegetarian (some are vegan) days a week (1 fish, others include meat).

As you said Indian food (biryani, aloo gobi, ...) can be vegetarian. A greek salad with kritharaki & beans. A simple pasta with a vegetarian pesto. Just some vegs (with oil & herbs) in the oven and serve some dips (tzatziki, yoghurt & mint based stuff, ...).

I do try those meat alternatives occasionally (maybe 1-2 times a year). They are always shit and texture & taste is nowhere near real meat. And I often throw it away, because it's just disgusting.

Meatless Mondays are good enough for me. Beer, peanuts, and a can of Franco-American spaghetti for supper.

I mean ... beef, pork and chicken are all plant-based. Damnit, does that mean I'm vegan now?

I like the "why call it ____? Because I can and I want to" response.

Funny how that doesn't work for trans people though, or black people...or really anyone with super thin skin.

But suddenly it is totally alright if the far left does it elsewhere. Same tactics, different target.

Eat our over processed “meat” full of more chemicals, phytohormones, and preservatives than actual meat! How any “vegan or vegetarian” can pretend their diet is healthy when they consume this shit is beyond me. Eat as little processed food as possible, eat as little pesticide covered food as possible, and eat natural meat.

I have a query: If vegetarians and vegans are so adamantly against eating meat or other animal products for moral reasons, why are they constantly trying to get their non-meat products to more closely imitate real meat and animal products? Why not just eat your stupid tofu and salads and be happy with it?

It's like being extremely anti-2A, but then playing CoD all the time, and using paintball and Airsoft guns on the weekends with friends. It's just more echoes of faggoty double-standards from Leftists.

Why take a moral stand and deny yourself something when you can technically follow your morals while still indulging?

Or how to have your gluten free, animal product free, fair trade, eco friendly, non-GMO ingredient cake and eat it too.

They can name it fake meat and I'll be ok with it.

I've never seen a cook reviewing beyond meat that didn't have to control themselves from throwing up upon smelling it.

A few years back Impossible did a huge media push. They'd sponsor tech youtubers and Bill Gates would be in some of the videos. Basically every reaction was "delicious. can't even tell it isn't real meat." Food youtubers seeing this did videos giving their opinions. Not sponsored; had to buy soyslop out of their own pocket. Basically every food tuber reaction was "this shit is nasty and doesn't taste like meat."

A lack of meat in your diet makes you weak.

It's that simple.

Because it's a shitty substitute. Your product is three times more expensive and full of salt. Make a steak that meat eaters can eat every day, and you wouldn't get that kind of pushback.

Imagine going up to a vegetarian and showing them your new invention. A salad made of meat, but disguised to look like a real salad, to get them to eat meat. It's fucking weird and an insult to the intelligence of all involved.

These plant burgers are just insinuations that people are too dumb to not eat meat and have to be tricked. Which if you think about it... is kinda like the you know whats not telling their partners the truth before getting down... Interesting that people are ok with this underhanded mindset.

I want to try vegan meat. Not eating all that healthy meat and eating only processed shit should make them super tender.

I'll admit to having tried TVP in dishes where meat isn't the main draw. Main example- a meat/bean/cheese dip for nachos. The meat was more a texture and content filler than anything, so I tried TVP instead. Wasn't bad, the TVP is actually cheap unlike those "totally meat but not meat" bullshit. Biggest issue will be flavor- if your dish doesn't have a strong flavor, be prepared to spice it up a lot; the stuff smells like wood.
