Seriously, all these women narrating their workday videos at tech companies have the same emotionless voice, accent and complete lack of humanity. Are we sure they aren't actually AIs?
We were courtesy interviewing* for a mid level webdev about a year ago and I straight up vetoed a woman with vocal fry and that annoying "up speak" nonsense.
Also every other word out of her mouth was "like".
* We already had someone via internal referal but had to go through the motions to placate HR. I've always thought it was kind of scummy to waste people's time but that's how it is.
Depending on your country there can be legal requirements to advertise jobs and go through the whole rigmaroll.
I too find it a waste of time, but what are you going to do.
Because it's difficult to parody a video of a "work day" that is already identical to a vacation at a luxury resort.
Oh, I guess she could have handsome men fall over themselves to propose to her only to get dragged to the HR googlag for re-education so they stop macroagressing mah lady.
They could do an opposite kind of a thing and have a video about how great their work is but it's like, grueling oilfield work or working overtime in a foundry or something like that.
I'll volunteer my job. Stack 60lb boxes over and over again for hours with a measly 10 minute break where they count the time it takes to walk to the break room as part of it. They can even show the agony on my face when I pull my lumbar/get hit by a box/drop a box of bowling balls on my shin/dislocate my shoulder for the 10th time this month, while the voiceover talks about the great benefits.
These people are fucking children. No. They're fucking pets, and they just lost an owner.
Imagine trying to use LinkedIn as a genuine social media site. Ugh. I'd rather hang out here with all of you than live life in that corporate swill.
Then, imagine instead of hitting up your contacts, or looking at your resume, you just cried and went to Disney Land. The absolutely stunning privilege and lack of forethought.
I try and avoid eating until 5pm or so; always funny to see people concerned about "missing breakfast" as if you have to eat food to have immediate energy.
I imagine some wake up at 3am to eat a spoonful of sugar to make sure they don't starve to death in their sleep.
It runs deep. My wife said that on an episode of the Gossip Girl remake someone remarked that "intermittent fasting is another word for eating disorder." People are SHOCKINGLY hostile to not stuffing carbs into their face hole every two hours. This will sound like a lie but a dude came within inches of doing violence to me at a bar because I said there are health benefits to fasting. Funny thing is that dumb motherfucker is a type ii diabetic (for the record he brought up the fasting). After becoming fat adapted it feels like you're living in a world of heroin addicts.
I've seen the same thing, it's so weird. My best guess is that most people realize, if only on a subconscious level, how much they are slaves to their appetite, and most people are not REALLY happy with how they eat and how they look.
Now I'm curious, is Intermittent Fasting more popular with rightwinger/libertarian types?? It's the ultimate in "your willpower controls your body." If you believe in your own individual power to improve your life, you believe you can make positive changes.
If you're a lefty who belives it's societal or environmental or out of your control, why even bother trying?
It probably is more right wing only because it is somewhat heterodox. While orthodox science backs the effectiveness and benefits of fasting the orthodox culture is absolutely hostile towards it so it should be more popular among the right who are clearly more comfortable rejecting the mainstream culture.
IF doesn't actually take much willpower. It takes some willpower to get it going but once you are fat adapted it's autopilot. Calorie counting while on a high carb modern diet takes a huge amount of willpower because you're always hungry. One meal a day once you're used to it takes no willpower because eventually you don't even get hungry until meal time, you only have to worry about preparing one meal and it's very difficult to overeat.
The "fat positive" weirdos are half right in rejecting calorie counting because while CICO can't be wrong it takes so much willpower and misery compared to just rejected the modern high carb six meals per day mentality. Where they go terribly wrong is in assuming if CICO doesn't work then nothing will.
Breakfast at 8 AM and dinner at 8 PM with nothing in between is normal for a sedentary person. You don't get hungry if you don't eat too many carbs at a meal.
I struggle with intermittent fasting but I'm getting better. For me I try to eat only between noon and 6pm. We typically have late dinners otherwise I'd do 4pm as a stop time.
The morning is easier because I'm either too busy or I can have a black coffee to curb the hunger, but it's a hard shift when working from home.
The cheats and the failure days are becoming less and less.
Are you low carb/high fat as well? If not it makes it a lot easier in my opinion. I did intermittent fasting for most of the 2010s but fell off the wagon for a couple years when I was eating too many carbs and repeatedly failed at getting it going again until I realized I needed to cut my carbs and then it was no problem.
Of course even without changing macros IF is a really good change and sticking with it will make it easier as you go, but LCHF and IF go together really well.
I am trying to recude carbs that's for sure, but I find the timing difficult. With trying to gain muscle I need to eat carbs bit to fascillitate muscle growth. So quick oats with a teaspoon of real maple syrup or honey, some fresh fruits like an apple, orange, banana etc. Rice with veg and a meat for dinner.
My "snack" is usually something like cottage cheese, sliced, salami and or some pickles.
I'm getting there, but it's tough to work full time, raise kids, workout AND maintain hobbies and necessary things like home repair, auto repair, etc. Such is life. But every time I do this and get back on track I get better and better. I think as long as I trend towards progress, then I'm doing fine.
What I've Learned (on youtube) has a bunch of well researched videos. He doesn't go into muscle building per se, but he does go into why you don't have reduced energy and will actually need less oxygen for a given amount of energy if you are in ketosis. Lack of energy is usually the reason given for not being able to put on muscle but that's not the case in practice. But 20% is already low carb, so if it's working keep doing what you're doing.
I have no fucking idea how east-asians do it. I swear they only eat one meal a day. They go to their own restaurants, buy the largest plates of food you'll ever see, not leave for an hour and a half, and I swear they don't eat anything else.
What I want to see next is her making another one of these videos from the welfare office.
"I got in line at 6am only to find the line started outside before business hours at about 430. I stood there till 11 when I was told by one woman to wait till my number is called. At 225 I asked why the vending machines weren't free and where their organic selection was. Immediately after, a man threw up in my handbag. While cleaning it in the drinking water fountain I saw that my purse had been taken out of it. At 315 I was told my number had been called an hour ago while I was making a tiktok video in the bathroom. Now I have to come back tomorrow. Stay tuned!"
And this is why google is going to fade like Radio, Movies, and Television as a technology and a medium, only faster. Android will live on like IBM and streaming services, but even those days are numbered.
So, yeah I'm terminally online but also pretty damn successful in life by most measures. With that comes being involved with business a ton. My current role is a Senior Program Manager in a global enterprise you've surely heard of. Let me break some of this shit out for everyone.
Let's start with the Tech sector lay-offs.
---Tech Layoff's---
All of the companies going through these mass layoffs (NCR, Oracle, SalesForce, Microsoft and now Google) share a few things in common.
All of them during 2020 "Overhired" for their entry - mid level IT and HR departments. Rather than use contractors to pick up the slack from 2020, they went the FTE route because they thought it would save them more money not having to pay the contracted rates. HOWEVER, the overhead on this bit them in the ass by not accounting for the rapid depreciation of their physical assets (Namely, office space lost via WFH) and the logistics issues getting parts and other supply chain related items.
Work is slowing in IT right now, from cloud providers to service hosts everything is switching to a SAAS model which means you need far less resource in Help Desk, Field Support and Business Analysis.
Along with point 2, comes the need for LESS recruiting and on-boarding staff. So Recruiters, HR specific roles and Director positions get axed as was the case for Salesforce as an entire department was no longer economically viable.
WEF/DEI pullback. At the C-Suite and Board level, investors are getting very very skiddish with their direction and commitment to their "Venture Capital" for a LOT of the smaller start-up's. This is kicking the entire IT industry while it's down.
Layoff's of low-mid level workers are going to continue until demand picks up via a major service or outage. "Cutting the fat" is paramount for most companies now and this is actually come to form from Elon gutting Twitter. (Rightfully also, shit was funny.)
They aren't letting people go for shit like in the OP. In fact, this sort of behavior is ENCOURAGED by almost everyone because it cuts out the need for candidate buy-in. Gals like this are likely on LinkedIn with a ton of followers drawing top candidate talent to these companies without the need to promote/recruit externally. She gets her 15 seconds of fame, the company gets positive PR for employee wellness. It's a win/win.
Additionally, it's best to think of these layoffs NOT as a sign of "Ah shit 2008, here we go again!" but treat it more like a stock market correction. Companies over-leveraged their budget for the fiscal year and do not have the CapEX work to make up for it.
Edit: IF you are in IT. The MOST SECURE place to be right now is in Cyber Security and Public Service (Private Energy Companies, Security Contracting, MFA/Role Based Integration..etc.)
I'd say the safest place to be is wherever has competent leadership, and where you are trusted by upper-management. With the collapse coming, I don't think anyone is truly safe, and I doubt the public sector is capable of being competent.

Very informative post. However, re: this point, this girl was just laid off for some reason
Also, something to note is that those videos are the exact same: helping themselves to food and having like a few meetings. It's always fucking meetings. It's never straightening out the fucking bird next of wires in the server room or actually checking the code to see why the CD tray opens at exactly 6:34pm on Tuesdays that fall on an even number. It's "meetings".
I think it's worse. I think there is part of this, but that these people are also corporate pets. I think that they are grooming a population of "useless eaters" that will walk into the crematoria when asked because they are quite literally cattle.
Not to mention, yes, the bureaucratic middle-managerial class is totally unsustainable when there's no real economy for them to actually engage with.
Why do these vapid women all sound the same?
Seriously, all these women narrating their workday videos at tech companies have the same emotionless voice, accent and complete lack of humanity. Are we sure they aren't actually AIs?

"It's used by rich people and teenagers who act like they don't need to give a shit."
Thoughts would take up valuable energy that is used to engorge their buttocks
Making the internet accessible to women/minorities/sub-95s made it way easier for mental pathologies to spread.
The mere fact that you sometimes had to wait minutes or hours for simple media to download pretty much weeded out all the impatient retards.
Bring back dial up
Nah, they need the remaining 10k to tell the 1k men (who do all the work) that they are evil and toxic.
Those 1K are all H1B pajeets so they probably actually are sexually harassing the deadweight office eye candy.
Because it's difficult to parody a video of a "work day" that is already identical to a vacation at a luxury resort.
Oh, I guess she could have handsome men fall over themselves to propose to her only to get dragged to the HR googlag for re-education so they stop macroagressing mah lady.
The rest could remain the same.
They could do an opposite kind of a thing and have a video about how great their work is but it's like, grueling oilfield work or working overtime in a foundry or something like that.
Turns out those guys are too busy working to spend an hour filming a skit.
Or they could take literally any of the videos like this one and use the voice-over for a toddler in daycare.
Really, it's not too hard to come up with ways to parody it.
I'll volunteer my job. Stack 60lb boxes over and over again for hours with a measly 10 minute break where they count the time it takes to walk to the break room as part of it. Sam Hyde did one recently
Ok, is this a psy op or are they really npcs? Genuinely, this is the 6th time I've seen a video like this, same tone, same format.
Sociopathic women are in high supply in woke cities. You’re not going to see many humble hr workers in LA or SF.
Almost 100% sure this is a psy op deliberately designed to piss you off.
Idk if anyone else clicked through, but she was just laid off

Man, can she eat a lot and stay slim.
I try and avoid eating until 5pm or so; always funny to see people concerned about "missing breakfast" as if you have to eat food to have immediate energy.

Seems pretty commonsensical to me.
I started figuring out that that was my problem.
I ate 2 bags of apples a week.
Hungry? Apple. Hungry? Apple. Hungry? Apple. Hungry? Apple. Hungry? Apple. Hungry? Apple.
I suppose the good news is that you can't really get fat eating vast quantities of apples. You can only get apple.
While you were eating apples, did you ever get randomly harassed by doctors?
No, not even one dentist.
I struggle with intermittent fasting but I'm getting better. For me I try to eat only between noon and 6pm. We typically have late dinners otherwise I'd do 4pm as a stop time.

This is outdated info. Even on keto you can put muscle on just as readily.
Do you have any references on hand I could look at for that? I'll look into it myself of course, but anything you could pass along I would appreciate.
I don't see complex carbs as being that much of an issue so long as you keep it down to about 20% or less of your macros.
What I've Learned (on youtube) has a bunch of well researched videos. He doesn't go into muscle building per se, but he does go into why you don't have reduced energy and will actually need less oxygen for a given amount of energy if you are in ketosis. I can't even think about food until after noon. People that stuff themselves first thing in the morning baffle me.
Look again. She's already begun to...expand her user base.

It really is something, isn't it? I'm guessing the MSG might actually be better for some people than salt.
Alot of that looks gorgeous. As in : luxury resort. Not a workplace.
I doubt anything of value was produced there.
“Let me know what you want to see next?” How about what exactly it is you do for work….. I doubt those were 2 4 hour meetings.
What I want to see next is her making another one of these videos from the welfare office.

Likely unrelated to the social media post. I'm not saying they cannot be laid off, just not for what the OP is implying.
So much of the economy is just hiring people so they have money to spend. It's practically UBI with extra sets.
Also, something to note is that those videos are the exact same: helping themselves to food and having like a few meetings. It's always fucking meetings. I did more work than that in Middle School, two meetings and answering a few emails doesn't count as a full 8 hour day.
Shit's ugly as hell.
