We were courtesy interviewing* for a mid level webdev about a year ago and I straight up vetoed a woman with vocal fry and that annoying "up speak" nonsense.
Also every other word out of her mouth was "like".
* We already had someone via internal referal but had to go through the motions to placate HR. I've always thought it was kind of scummy to waste people's time but that's how it is.
Depending on your country there can be legal requirements to advertise jobs and go through the whole rigmaroll.
I too find it a waste of time, but what are you going to do.
