I ended up getting a response that being gay isn't genetic. Honest question, is this really a position they're abandoning? I told them I dont care whether or not they claim it is or not, but that abandoning the inherent generic nature of it would cause problems for their other narratives.
Is that person just an outlier or is the mainstream NPC position no longer that being gay is inherent?
It could also be younger millennials and gen z are just too stupid to realize that changing the basis of their argument for legalization to now push another argument for an even smaller fringe in their fringe group will wipe out the whole groups standing on any issue

It's something to make it easier to help define what is normal and stable without having to start from scratch and raise wild animals to act human. Under ideal circumstances, it helps kids accept who they are and what to expect from others around them. We need this for same-sexed couples and it is going to take generations for society to adapt to it.
