That's the problem with accepting emotional rationale for your ethics--somebody can always claim a greater emotional cause. It generates a moral arms race that shifts the ideology further and further to the fringe. Most left thinkers don't have a concrete set of moral stances--just "Suffering is bad, and we should prevent suffering wherever we can". Well, suffering is unfortunately not objective and thus the goalposts move themselves.

I'm not so sure that the issue is left vs right. Once you cut past the identity politics, which undoubtedly exist on both sides, the truth is that we have more in common than not. From what I've observed the non idpol, anti-establishment left and new right all see many of the same problems in society and ultimately want a lot of the same things, just radically differ on the solutions.
The identity politics we see today were instituted during OWS because people were starting to become united across the political spectrum against the corrupt elites.

Marxists dont recognize individuals they recognize groups. Its a collectivist ideology. If there is a disagreement between a white and a black, the black will always be right in their eyes in addition the white will be seen as racist for disagreeing in the first place. Minority voices are more oppressed on the victim scale so their voices are more valuable no matter the topic. Thats why you always see people list their race first in Twitter comments, "As a black man I feel.." Etc, it adds value to their opinion.

Identity politics are great when they come from the other direction.
