After checking the girl's Twitter profile which has pronouns "she/they" listed, it is clear she only became an engineer because of affirmative action policies.
Well, why waste someone with reproductive value on a one way mission that will be to pave the way for actual colonists and will have 0% long term survival chances.
Send the canary first, then when the air doesn't kill it, move in.
Edit: That is to say, I don't think fertile people fucking mid trip would be a benefit, apart from nutrition calculations going out the window, I don't think we have the tech to land a pregnant person safely, and people born in orbit... probably wouldn't ideal at this stage of our tech development.
Not to mention how babies so soon after landing would affect performance.
And said colony could potentially generate trillions in profit from mining operations, or as a jumping off point to the Asteroid Belt where there are even more resources. And that's not even getting into the potential profit generated from providing services and goods to miners.
Of course that would require infrastructure to ferry materials and people back and forth, which would require a lot of upfront investment but would certainly pay off within a few years.
Point is it's doable and will almost certainly be profitable, but the tech and infrastructure aren't funded enough to do it yet.
We are connected on Linkedin. Though for people like that I doubt he even remembers saying that to me so many years ago. It stuck with me so long because I used it as a challenge to push myself to do the absolute best I could do.
This guy is living rent free in her head.
Some of the replies are gems:
6 year old, looking at an IBM 360, I asked "How does it work?", my mother answered " You won't understand that!", now I'm a circuit designer, didn't go for digital, went straight to analog! Yeah, I won't understand that...
He was probably the captain of the baseball team in high school or something and he gave her a real solid dicking one time and then never spoke to her again.
The vast majority of the world still doesn’t understand computer science. Ask any average person how their android works and they just look at you dumb.
My high school chemistry teacher told the class girls should not go into science because they're too stupid to be scientists. I became a chemist.
My favorite "that happened" from down the thread, that the OP herself responded to.
Because as we know, high school teachers are always so comfortable and evil they just outright directly call all women stupid to their face. Not just one girl, all the girls in class.
Either the context was that she was extremely bad at chemistry, or the boy never told her that.
I'm trying to figure out a scenario where a boy would say that to a girl, even though boys do not easily talk to girls at that age, the only explanation I could think is that the girl was bragging about going to Nasa while she sucked at science, the boy still thought that merit trumps vagina but o boy was he wrong.
Could also be a natural response to a kid wanting to be a rocket scientist. Just like someone wanting to be a professional baseball player, race car driver, etc. Doesn't have to be 'sexism', but she's clearly a cunt either way, so who cares.
If it's real, there's clearly some missed context. I can understand wanting to prove someone wrong and all, don't even think it bad to use as motivation. Still, someone who is a pronounist and a lesbo who has to make sure it's a boy, yeah just another dose of leftist politics.
Oh, and it was an internship at NASA, I'm not even sure that counts.
Someone down below said she was a solid 7/10. This goaded me to click the link to see what she looked like.
I would say more a 6/10.
But I always have this prevailing theory that decently attractive, personable women who claim to be part of the Rainbow Reich won't be there for long once the right guy swoops in.
Sure enough, I decided to check her Instagram to see if she was living up to her very public profile broadcasts of being "LGBTQ+" and the third picture on her Instagram is with her boyfriend who she's been dating for a year...lol

It almost never fails.
A lot of time that whole Rainbow Reich nonsense in the profiles is just a cry for attention. If the woman is attractive you can bet that she'll be hitched (or dating) a guy before or by 30. If she's not attractive (or straight evil)? Well, she can fulfill her destiny of trying to live up to her alphabet soup dreams.
Her profile gets more and more insufferable if you even scroll down a month or two.
Constant selfies self-congratulating how "hot she looks". Ugly ass shoulder tattoo. Complaining that people are being mean to her just because she got intern opportunities even though "her grades were shittier". Gloating about Title IX investigations and being a survivor. Claiming she left engineering lectures crying daily for a year just a year ago, yet she's somehow the newest aerospace prodigy.
No surprise there. Even the fire department lowered their standards to have woomen. Must suck to be a hefty wheelchair cripple on the 5th floor of a skyscraper on fire and wooman shows up to carry you to safety.
The thing about posting a bunch of hate about this is that it just feeds her ego further. Because whether a diversity hire or not, she "won" and people can be just written off as bitter detractors.
The best thing to do is just an emotionless "oh, good for you" because it shows that nobody gives a shit about her accomplishment and she's patting herself on the back for nothing. If you think about it, it's super pathetic, because she's held on to that for 20+ years.
So literally, Riri Williams/Ironheart from Marvel comics? At least this real life version didn't break into NASA and steal parts to build her own rocket.
So she's saying that that boy literally helped her find a decent position where she can leach off of taxpayer dollars for the rest of her life while not producing anything of value
Did she tell him you're welcome? i understand though, you have a dream, someone tells you know and that helps motivate you. Happens all the time with good men too, though it's never the only factor. It's nice to tell someone "suck it" I guess, down the line, if you're into that sort of revenge. But when you use it to virtue signal it does seem pathetic, like you only did it to spite men or something. Have fun in one of the many fields men engineered and are doing better than you in. Please don't get in the way of them working.

Which is why SpaceX is going to Mars, and NASA is still unable to put someone in orbit.

At this point, NASA is just as effective as the FTC and the FEC. A Melvin voice saying "Please don't do that. It might be bad."
didn't I hear something not too long ago about another country offering space for launch facilities for SpaceX?
Didn't the FAA pull some of Elon Musk's permits
as political revenge"for safety reasons"?That will happen about a month before space X buys their own Caribbean island to launch from.
Elon is beyond giving a shit and corporations are far beyond the ability to reign in that simply.
Pretty much. I say within most people's lifetimes you'll see a corporation basically own a small island nation.
Hey, strictly speaking the USA is a very large peninsula, not an island!
Oh, you meant corporations owning OTHER countries...
Give it a decade or two and a trillion dollars will be a reasonable amount of money for someone to have, buying-power-wise.
Which we could afford if we didn't have a welfare state annually dumping billions down a hole.

I’m thinking she realizes that she is a diversity hire deep down, otherwise she wouldn’t be trying to make herself seem like an underdog.
You mean some cunt, who flapped her eyelashes at a nerd in hiring, was hired even though she wasn't the best available candidate? Truly shocked.
This guy is living rent free in her head.
Some of the replies are gems:
Fixed that for you.
6 yearolds don't understand computer science, lady. You're mom wasn't wrong.
The vast majority of the world still doesn’t understand computer science. Ask any average person how their android works and they just look at you dumb.

Because as we know, high school teachers are always so comfortable and evil they just outright directly call all women stupid to their face. Not just one girl, all the girls in class.
Not even our resident women enthusiast, TheImpossible1 would do that.
Girl: "I want to be an engineer"
Impossible1: "You just want to be an engineer to rig machines to explode when men touch them."
Girl: "No?"
Impossible1: "I'M FUCKING ON TO YOU"
Considering his hate for the idea of "trad" the notion that women would be better off not going into STEM would be just as offensive.
Jokes on you, TheImpossible1 is actually Chris Brown. These Hoes Ain’t Loyal.
And then he told us to get back in the kitchen!
If he said that he might have been one the high school teacher to ever teach teen girls something useful.
And everybody clapped. It was awesome.
I had a teacher yell "get back into the kitchen!" at me...
But it WAS a full-day cooking class, and our lunch break just ended.

She's literally just an intern
Who is only there because she has a vagina.
AWFL?
Affluent White Female Liberal
Also known as the main source of affirmative action hires/students.

Is she sure it wasn't just a case of a bully just using something he'd know would get under her skin? Bullies gonna bully
I've shown that man that wouldn't remember who I was if I jumped in front of him and started screaming my name in his face!
I know this song.
No, literally: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgzl1Sai4Y0
This might have happened in 1954, but it didn't happen in 2004.
If anything, the boy probably tried to call you stupid, not womanly.
shit that never happened

Lydia seething that this chick is way prettier and smarter than her. Shut up and push the buttons.
Bruh. Lydia looks a like a kobold.
A silver miner with cobalt poisoning, and therefore distorted facial features and a blue tint to the skin.
Or the mythological creature derived from the condition.
Probably the latter.
